Very Good
Boysenberry Tart AleBoysenberry Tart Ale
Notes: Our Tart & Fruit Series is the perfect place to showcase boysenberries, a strange and wonderful hybrid of blackberries and raspberries. The jammy juiciness of 12 pounds per barrel of real boysenberries is balanced with a bit of pucker thanks to a first-stage fermentation with lactobacillus. Coriander gives off hints of wildflowers, and a pinch of salt amplifies the refreshing sweet-tart berry goodness.

Can’t say there is a distinct boysenberry flavor - maybe a general berry fruitiness but even that is faint, more lacto sour than crisp & tart, some vinegar notes floating around in the back but not too heavy thankfully. Alright

A: It is a beautiful looking purplish hue. Neat thin head compacted slowly into edge laced annular disk.

S: Has a nose of funkiness and a hint of seweriness. Typical to style. Has a slight light berry note on nose.

T: Reminds me of a Gose a little bit, not as salty. If you swish it around a bit on palate, the saltiness rises and the tang reminds of a homebrew twang almost.

M: Thin at first, slightly creamy on swish. Not heavy at all in any way, it is spritely.

O: Refreshing and very pleasant to say the least, I could see having a few of these while doing outdoor activities.

A - Light strawberry pink/red colored pour with dense white lacing and light carbonation.

S - Light aroma that's tart, a little salty, a little juicy, and boysenberry aroma.

T - Boysenberry and salt from start to finish with some tartness. Fruit and a little salty with home lingering cereal grain and tartness on the back end.

M - Medium body with soft carbonation, wet finish.

O - Refreshing but not my gig.

Nice and light but also packs a lot of tartness. It’s a good start to summer beer. Very drinkable

12oz can into a pint glass. Best by 6/19/19, so plenty fresh.

Deep reddish pink body. Large bubbly pinkish white head, which diminishes to 1/4 inch covering. Some lacy.

Tart fruity aroma.

Mild tart berry flavor, though no idea what boysenberry tastes like. A little watery.

A tad below medium on the mouth, tart berry on the finish.

Overall, reminds me of yards pink. A okay beer, but nothing special.

A tart, refreshing wheat-y ale with nice berry flavor. It is surprisingly bitter or astringent and the mouthfeel is on the harsh side, not soft or creamy at all. Could be a lot better with a couple of tweaks.

A - As expected a very dark ruby purple color with a 1/2 inch of froth that fizzes out rather slowly leaving a good ring.
S - Brewed like a gose it has plenty of tart berry some sea salt and mild corandier spice.
T - Wow that is weird the coriander really doesn't work well the the boysenberry at all. Taste is not very sour or salty either. Ugh what the hell?
M - Well it drinks rather right and is easy to put away but the flavor combination...

Overall I guess I either expected a rather tart beer or a rather sweet beer and got nether. As stated the spices don't really work. Pretty much on Par with Flamingo Fruit Fight which is another terrible combination of passion fruit and lime...
