Monks had fasting figured out. No food? No problem. Just drink a Double Bock. Thick and chewy with intense notes of caramel, chocolate and dried stone fruit, ‘Nator (as we call him) serves as a tribute to this liquid bread style.

Pours a decent beige head that quickly fades to a thin remnant. Brew is a brilliant copper-caramel color, dark but very clear.

Tons of toffee and caramel in the aroma, plus dark fruits: figs and grapes.

Flavor follows the nose: sweet raisins and grapes, chewy bready malts, tons of caramel and brown sugar. A bit of rum raisin meets fruitcake.

Long, long sticky finish from a light but creamy body. Extremely easy drinking, with no hint of the high ABV, and little sting.

Very tasty dopplebock.

Right out of the can since there was an aphid napping in my tulip. Strong, sweet, and malty. Just a skip away from Jack n' Coke in a can. A welcome break from the usual springtime carousel of IPAs and lagers.

pros- Available all year
Drinking a pack of this high octane ale, will put most under the table. Drinking one will make most legally buzzed
Tastes as a heavy ale should →strong

cons- Expensive, (Yes I know it's a very strong, ETOH heavy ale)
Has Isopropyl Alcohol like notes,(Again what does one expect from an ETOH content of 8.2%?)
Not recommended for drinking at a public watering hole, this isn't yer average reasonably priced beer, PLUS, got a
ride home?

This is my favorite beer, and I LOVE that it is available year-round! Not everybody wants to settle for a blonde or a light pilsner in the summertime.

Pours a beautiful clear dark mahogany/ruby brown with a large but short-lived tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma is fairly faint. Caramel malt, dark bread and stone fruit. Flavor follows the nose with much more boldness than the aroma. Feel is rather thin with low carbonation. Overall, a fantastic beer.

Beautiful, clear deep garnet to mahogany color, low off white head that left very little lace behind.
Sweet aroma of caramelized malt and brown sugar with rich fruit notes of cherries and watermelon.
Flavor of brown bread grain and more ale fruit - cherries and berries in a candy sugar sauce.
Body is a bit lighter than expected from the big flavor profile but solidly medium in heft.
The finish is clean and lager-ly - hints of pepper and hop spice linger on the tongue.
Almost boarders on a Belgian Double in character but lighter and cleaner.
Highly drinkable.

Looks like a dopple bock should pours rich. Maybe a little thin. Smell is great and so is the taste. Troegs does not disappoint

I think this was the best beer I tried when I was there. Strong without being too strong. Good flavor, all around good beer.
