Tröegs Troegenator Double Bock | Tröegs Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, the head's two fingers thick and light brown, with webbed lacing, and a clear deep brown body.

I smell caramelized malts and the stone fruits mentioned on the labeling.

Tastes like not very much of the chocolate it mentions, but a boozy fruit and caramelized malt flavor that was more than welcome in the -30 F weather that occurred roughly a month ago when I scribbled this review down in my handy dandy notebook.

Slightly heavier than medium mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

Tröegs Troegenator Double Bock | Tröegs Brewing Company merits an overall 4.5. Yet another enjoyable spicebomb alternative during the frigid months.

This beer pours a dark red/brown color with a light head that does go away fast. Its not heavily carbonated but thats proper for the style. It smells of malt, chocolate, a little caramel maybe? Defintely sweet which is right for the style. This beer is delicious and anyone that appreciates a good double-bock will love this. Its got that chewy, sweet mouthfeel with just a little hint of hops towards the end. Make no mistake though - this beer is a double-bock so its sweet and very much like dessert in a glass. I LOVE this style and other than the world-class Sam Adams double-bock, this is the next best thing. It is not balanced and it not supposed to be. Its for hardcore double-bock drinkers that love maltiness/sweetness in their beer. Highly Recommended.

Fairly sweet, dark fruit early: currants with a hint of molasses; smooth malt, slight alcohol burn. —Reviewed 30 Dec 2016

Pours a dark brown, ruby. Medium carbonation. Some dark fruit and candy on the nose and taste is much the same with some malt and sweetness. Not too cloying but definately sweet with a candy thing going on, maybe some smoke or roast in the background. Enjoyable but the classic examples of the style keep the crown.

Look: A rich black body with an off white head that quickly dissipated.

Smell: An overwhelming sense of alcohol and I enjoyed this smell. But as soon as the beer first touched my taste buds I could also smell notes of cherries with the initial copious amount of alcohol.

Taste: I detected primarily cherries up front and then it ended with a smokey after taste.

Feeling: A smooth drink that went down quickly without a kick of the alcohol percents.

Overall: Very enjoyable beer that I bumped into by chance.
