Poured into snifter. Not a ton of head, but nice color, though. Smell is raisiny, musty, fairly earthy. The taste is not bad, just not anything overly spectacular. The mouthfeel is pretty appealing, feels fairly substantial. Overall, this is a nice beer, but not at the top of this great style category. I would have again, but I would maybe look for other d-bocks first. Still, a pretty good brewery.

Lately for whatever reason I've decided that Thursdays are good days for trying new brews, and today is no different. And in this case I'm trying an unfamiliar style. Let's see how it goes.

Poured this into a Sierra Nevada balloon glass - nice looking clear brown with plenty of carbonation and a quarter inch of fizzy head.

Very strong malt aroma, similar to a marzen. Nice flavor..malt at the forefront but I also detected a "buttery caramel" taste at the finish with mild bitterness. Perhaps a hint of toffee as well. I expected a heavier feel to it but not the case here - medium-bodied, smooth. The 8.2% abv is fairly well hidden here.

Delicious. I need to explore this style more. Need a break from IPAs.
