This strong alluring ale is two beers in one. Cracking open a fresh bottle unleashes hops and heat with more than 100 IBUs emanating from three hop varieties and sweet burn of 9.3% ABV. Cellaring the Flying Mouflan in a cool dark place at 50 degrees for a minimum of four months will mellow out the hops and wash away the heat. If you can resist temptation you will be rewarded with two memorable beers in a single bottle.

Drank from pilsner glass at 50F.

Color is dark swamp water mahogany. Head is brown and sticky.

Nose is toasty, brown sugar, molasses, malt, and dark sesame seeds.

Taste like it smells. Flavor has distinctive Troegs gusto and is clearly unashamed to have a heavy grain bill. Carries the alcohol with pride. No hiding behinds adjunct sugars. Warming and welcoming without a boozy back of the rogue sting.

Body is a bit heavy, so you won't likely be swirling more than 24-48 oz down at a sitting.

First barleywine, not sure what to expect. It lands somewhere between an IPa and a sour. Great amber color, heavy barley and gras smell, very fresh. Somewhat carbonated

The appearance was a nice golden amber to brown tobacco color with a decent half finger foamy white head that once it starts to die, there is a decent amount of adequate stringy lacing sticking finely to the sides of the glass. The smell was definitely of the English persuasion of sorts of a Barleywine as the typical "tobacco" smell and maltiness came out here. The taste was caramel malts with a nice coating of the tobacco coming through as well. On the palate, it sat about a medium to heavy with a decent boozy edge to it. The alcohol is well noted and I know that was not from the tryptophan from the turkey we had that night. Overall, pretty nice English barleywine worthy of coming back to.
