Inspired by the highly hopped beers from the west coast, our double IPA is truly a hophead's delight. Five varieties of American hops added throughout the boil create a wide range of flavors including pine and citrus, while generous dryhopping in the fermentor provides the distinct aroma of fresh hops. We guarantee that this is one of the freshest double IPA's available, giving you a great reason to drink local. 85 IBUs.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a nice looking semi-hazy burnt yellow color with a slim finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds. Light speckled lacing weaves its way around the glass in a messy sort of way. The smell has a nice blend of sweet pineapple, light mango, a little bit of orange and a slight bitter pine hops. The taste was mainly bitter with a semi-sweet dry citrus effect roaming across my tongue. There’s no aftertaste but has a quick dry citrus finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation comes across fairly well as a DIPA. Biter citrus rind hits my tongue decently. Overall, as a DIPA it works. It’s a little more dry than some other DIPA’s I’ve had. Still good for the most part.

Finger’s worth of bleached white foam formed from tiny bubbles which dimple as the head quickly evaporates, in turn the lacing comes in thick streaks but it doesn’t stick very well. While transparent there is a mild haze to the gold to light orange rust colored liquid, here the bubbles are larger and spread widely rather than beaded. Given the bracing grassiness and graininess in the nose there is also ample mango, papaya to pineapple fruit scents, some pine sap and pepper as well, angular nostril feel and it never fully settles in. Full-bodied, even as it starts to push into the palate its arch dryness numbs so you can’t feel all the weight. The carbonation lends a steady prickle which reminds you something is in your mouth. Very hoppy and herbaceous, all unprocessed grains and again with the pepperiness. Very quiet caramel and malted milk balls and here the fruit stays more in the peach to apricot range without achieving tropical tang. It is so dry through the finish that it almost burns. You better like your DIPA on the bitter side because you will have “bitter beer face.” As you’d expect, the finish is on the short side.

Poured into a 13 oz Weyerbacher tulip glass not sure when it was canned, but knowing it came from @jzeilinger I trust it is fresh. Pours a rusty red with a solid one inch creamy white head that leaves behind rings of lace.
Smell is apricot, tangerine, biscuit, toffee, pine, and grapefruit rind.
Taste follows apricot, tangerine, and toffee upfront with pine and grapefruit in slightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is a pretty hefty medium, moderate carbonation, not dry, and very drinkable for 8.5% ABV.
Overall this is good, very balanced. Not West Coast or East Coast, but a nice beer just the same. Thanks JZ.

A - Hazy dark copper amber color with a frothy white head, very sticky lacing.
S - Citrus nose, mango, oranges.
T - Light juicy resiny citrus: oranges, red juicy grapefruit, papaya and lingering peppery fruit rind and pine bitterness. Has the resiny spicy goodness of a West Coast IPA, more balanced at first but as I get 2/3 through the hops gain momentum and builds to a fruity resin.
M - Medium body and gentle carbonation.
O - Didn't like this beer at first but it's growing on me.

Out of a 4-pack, only 1 can was good, the others were infected/defective--sour, off flavors and instead of the orange of the 1 good can, they were as brown as coca-cola. Gross. Avoid.
