An interesting offering...I have seen chili flavored beers before, but never a porter. English style porter, dark brown in color. Interesting smell. If you were not told about the peppers you might not immediately identify the scent. It is brewed with poblano peppers, not hot or too spicy, but they have a zesty flavor to them.
I give this place a lot of credit for trying something unique. It is hard to say what this would match up well with, aside from Tex-Mex style dishes and maybe a burger. So, I tried a pint after my meal.
Limited to no lacing on the glass.
As I sipped away and the beer warmed a bit, the deeper flavors really came out. The Earthy, organic-like flavor of the peppers started to gain further strength, coming to the forefront. The peppers never grew overpowering, yet their was no mistaking their presence.
I am glad I tried it, but I don't think I would have enjoyed a second round. An A+ for trying something different. Drinable to a degree, but not for everyone.
