This strong, golden colored ale is brewed with pilsner malt and noble hops, but it is the traditional Belgian strain of yeast that provides the complex aromas of fruit and spice. With a dry finish and a relatively light body, you will find our Belgian Tripel very drinkable for a beer this potent.

Appearance: pours an orange color with a yellow tint. Short head dissipates quickly.

Smell: yeast and bread tones are all you can detect.

Taste: yeast and breadiness are up front, with some lemon zest and orange citrus in the background. Alcohol is warming and quite noticeable here.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Light crispness to start, smoother at the finish. Short lasting aftertaste as the yeast is longest lasting flavor here.

Overall: a decent triple, but too yeast forward for me. I like a bit more balance with the citrus tones in a triple. Nice to see a triple in cans for those beach trips.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Slightly cloudy golden pour with massive fluffy white head. Great lacing.

S: Bread and yeast... sweet and spice.

T.F: Sweet and spicy up front. Grains and yeast. Strong clove and coriander. Pepper, honey, and fruit. Some bitterness mid-swig to go with the sweet. Medium bodied... prickly carbonation and a little boozy. That 9% is definitely in there.

O: A decent take on a Tripel... not elite but very drinkable and with good flavor. One I'd certainly have again.

Poured from a 12oz can into a Trillium pub glass.

Look is a hazy orange golden with a thin white head.

Aroma is a like a crisp white wine.

Taste is very heavy sweet syrup. None of that crispness comes through.

Good, spicy, herbal Belgian ale. Well rounded flavor profile to balance yeast, malt, herbs, and hops. Tasty and savored to the last sip.

Poured from undated can into tulip glass. It pours a cloudy honey color with a thin milk-white cap and a thin sheen of lacing. The nose features sweet malt, candied fruit, brown sugar, clove, and coriander. It opens with abundant sweet malt and brown sugar, along with banana, fruity esters, clove, coriander, and candied fruits. The spices persist through the taste. It finishes with minimal bitterness. This ale is medium-bodied with lively carbonation, and the 9% ABV gives it a lot of substance. Overall, this is a nice rendition of the style. It's not at the level of, say, Fin du Monde or some of the Belgian-brewed Tripels but it would pair well with a light meal and is fine for casual drinking.

12 oz. can poured into a tulip/snifter glass.

L---Bright golden color. Hazy, but not opaque to light. Nice head faded quickly to a cap. Left very good lacing.

S---Tropical fruits. Spices, pepper & clove typical of tripels. Malts & yeast are noticeable.

T---Sweet, honey & maybe candy sugars. Spicy (light coriander) & fruity. As in the smell, pepper & cloves. Strong malt backbone. Maybe a touch too sweet, could be a little drier.

F---Lighter than expected for ABV. Very well carbonated. That may account for some of the light feeling. Feels smooth & drinkable.

O---A nice example of a tripel. Wifey didn't like it at all, and she likes Weyerbacher's (Merry Monks) & Victory's (Golden Monkey) examples of tripels, as well as actual Belgian ones. I'd definitely get this one again.

I bought a 4-pack of cans. I generally like Belgian ales. I wanted to like this - since I live in the Philadelphia area only about 15 miles or so from Manayunk. Sadly, this ale didn't work for me.

To be fair, it is possible that it was skunked. I don't know how prevalent that is with beer in cans... but that's how it tasted to me. The fragrance was rather chemical and unpleasant. The flavor was... unpleasantly spicy and, as noted, kind of skunky. It almost hurt the back of my throat. It didn't taste like any real Belgian ale I've had - and I've had quite a few from different breweries.

I *hate* wasting a good, high ABV beer. But I ended up pouring half down the drain. I'll give the remaining 3 cans to my son, and tell him that it's excellent! See what happens.

I know. I'm a horrible dad. But maybe it's just me - and he'll actually like it.

12 oz can , poured into my trusty old St. Bernardus goblet. No noticeable carbonation. Opaque gold hue with a quickly departing head that left some faint lacing clinging to the goblet walls to the (not actually that bitter ) end. Typical aroma of malt and spicy floral combinations that is identically reflected in the taste , and a distinct alcohol bite on the back of the tongue .A pilsner like citrus after taste , and medium mouthfeel , and just a small touch of bitterness . All in all , a very pleasing Belgian style Tripel ! Although there are other tripels I prefer, this is really good, so,If you like this style , definitely give it a shot, you'll be rewarded. Kudos Manayunk !

Monk from the Yunk ( Manayunk ) is a superbly balanced, complex Tripel with a host of flavors. Spices, sweetness and a variety of fruits are delivered to the palate in a perfectly carbonated mouthfeel. At 9% ABV, it commands respect, but since the temps are dropping again and I’m cozy at home, I’m having another. If you’re a Belgian Tripel fan, grab some. You will not be disappointed. Nice work, Manayunk!

Really pleased with the taste and ABV! Being I’m close to Philly is great also. Lighter in color than most triples and very drinkable; no sipping beer here. Character may be special, but drinking beer is about taste for me.

This was poured into a chalice. The appearance was a semi-hazy glossy orange color with less than a finger’s worth of white foaminess. Lacing concaves nicely along the sides. The smell starts off with an iced apple to sweet citrus. Light mango, pineapple opens up once it warms. Belgian spices show their presence nicely. The taste is well balanced between the spice and the sweet and also leads into the aftertaste nicely. The finish is semi-sweet but barely there. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation seems slightly under, but the spices seem to take care of the slight lack. Belgian sweet stickiness rolls over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Tripel that I would have again.
