A cloudy, dark amber color, very similar to Pioneer's Whitetail Cream Ale, but with a fluffier head. Smells fruity and sweet, kind of like apple juice. Taste is creamy, appley, and buttery. Just a little bit of a pleasant, bitter finish to remind you that you're not having a cream soda. Exactly what it advertises itself as, "smooth & refreshing." The only odd thing is the the Hooker logo, which features six hop buds; kind of incongruous, given this particular beer. This is better than Spotted Cow.

Thanks to MuddyFeet for the opportunity to try this.

Appearance: Bright gold, ever so slightly couldy. Above average head which quickly dissipates.

Smell: Grainy and tart, with a hint of hops.

Taste: Light, wheaty taste with a tart finish that is slightly bitter. It's hard to discren lemon from hops from yeast in the taste. Overall it is a nice taste that I feel is appropriate for the style. It is refreshing and full-flavored at the same time.

Mouthfeel: It is fizzy and a bit sweet feeling in the mouth. But at the same time, it dry from the tart and hops flavors.

Drinkability: This is very drinkable. It is mild and well balanced enough to appeal to a large audience, but also deep enough for the selective.

I have had this and the IPA from Hooker, and living in CT, I'm glad to have found something local that I can really get behind. I'm going to go get one of each of the others that these guys make, because I expect them to be very high quality.

12 oz bottle to a pint glass
This beer pours a pale gold to straw color with a pure white head which laces a bit. The smell is light malts with a hint of wheat and light floral hoppiness from the saaz hops. The taste is light hops with a touch light malty base. The beer is nearly as smooth as a lager but retains just enough malty character to make it taste like a true ale. Carbonation is high but right for the style. Drinkability is good this beer is nothing special but provides a good alternative to macro lagers.

I've had this before at the brewery in CT. Reviewing htis in bottle.

A - Decent pour. Looks like a generic pale ale.

S - A smell of fruit, and a slight earthy smell as well. Not particularly strong.

T - Its a nice beer. Again a taste of fruit, with maybe some spice.

M - Very smooth, not heavy, and leaves a generally sweet finish.

D - Very drinkable. I enjoyed this on a hot day. This certianly qualifies as a "session beer".

I like the Thomas Hooker brand and these guys do a nice job. This blonde ale is fairly generic, but enjoyable none the less.

A slightly haze on the dark yellow beer. Has a small (now you see it now you don't) white head. The is a light sweet grassy aroma with a nice hint of lemon. There is a light sting of bitterness and some citrus at the start of the flavor. That moves to a smooth malty character. Then to a gentle hop on the finish.

Served in a Chicago Bears shaker pint glass.

Thanks to jlindros for this bottle!

Hm, it's usually blonde hooker, not Hooker Blonde. (Honestly, that one made me laugh pretty decently when I thought of it...) It pours a bright gold with an intimation of haze (maybe more of a rumor) and topped by about a finger of white foam. The nose comprises bright corn syrup, wheat, and a very light dash of coriander. The taste ramps up the coriander, adding some lemon zest and cardamom, while maintaining the slight wheatiness and keeping the corn syrup to a necessary minimum. The body is decidedly light, with a light moderate carbonation and a fairly refreshing feel. Overall, a nice bit o' summery goodness.

I try to pick up a six pack of some type of Thomas Hooker every time I go up to CT. Purchased the blonde ale this time.

Golden, but almost a tad bit cloudy in color. Not an overly enticing smell, but a good crisp bite in the flavor. No real head to the beer once poured into a glass.

Somewhat hoppy, but not too much. It went down smooth. Overall, a good beer. Nothing overly unique, but tasty and pleasant.

The Blonde Hooker is a cream ale. Surely someone must see the irony in this ;-) It is a very tasty beer, and certainly a simple easy drinker.

Appearance: Pours an attractive light golden peach color. It has a resemblance of the syrup around canned pears with splash more apricot to the hue. Small white head fades relatively quickly.

Smell: Fruity doughy malt aroma of wet bread yeast and a hint of citrus hops.

Taste: Sweet pale malts dough and yeast follow the nose. It is a cross between Pete's Wicked Rally Cap and Anderson Valley Summer Solstice. It is a straight forward cream ale with hints of melon spritzed with lemon flavor. A hint of dull hops in the finish.

Mouthfeel: The feature a cream ale seems to be the exceptionally smooth silky texture. This is no exception.

Drinkability: This beer is approachable and highly drinkable. In PA it is not easy to find but I wouldn't go too far out of my way to get it. I I lived in Connecticut though ... it might serve as a decent transition beer for guests in my home.

Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

12 oz brown bottle poured into standard pint glass.
Poured a straw colored yellow with a thick white head that left a little lace but faded pretty quickly.
Citrus was the strongest aroma.
The taste was citrusy or lemony as well.
The mouthfeel was sort of a bubbly and carbonated but it went down pretty easy.
I do not generally grab a blond ale but I enjoyed this one as it was very refreshing on a hot summer night.

Appearance: clear, gold, small head, big carbonation

Smell: yeast, grass, and florals

Taste: sweet malt, earth, and barley

Mouthfeel: bitter start with a sweet/smooth finish

Drinkability: I think this would be an excellent, sessionable, lawn mower beer...A refined Budweiser that is more tasty--I also think I am drinking a lager...I like more complex beers, but this is good for the style

Thomas Hooker cream ale is a pleasant brew. It pours from the bottle an ever so slightly hazy golden color. The head does not last long, but this is no major loss. The smell is malty and perhaps also a bit yeasty. The taste is malty sweetness. While there are images of hops on the bottle lable, noticable hops bittering is absent (and thankfully so). Mouthfeel is smooth and pleasant. A nice beer to enjoy, with a very high drinkability. Goes very well with a spicy pepperoni pizza!

Pours a slightly fogged gold. Nose is a very faint fruit tone with a faint odd metallic edge. Flavor is kind of sweet with a metallic tone that hits on the back of the mouth. Feels good on the mouth and it's a nice drinker too. I could just do without the whole metallic side of it.

12 oz bottle, "Born on 9/6/16" etched onto the lable.

Pour lightly hazed quite light yellowy/golden. with a minimal eggshell head, leaving decent looking strands of lacing

Faint sniff of bread.

Light and easy drinking little brew, bready, moderate level of on the crisper side hops.....decent sumery kinda brew or would be a nice compliment to some peppery salad greens and goat cheese/crackers...I used a bottle of this to boil u some brats, before putting them on the grill to crisp up...so this is a pretty versatile kinda brew...worth havoing some around for various purposes

12 oz bottle served chilled in a pint glass.

Appearance: Clear yellow (slight tinge of orange) topped by a small white head. Little head retention, no lacing.

Smell: Light fruity notes of peach mixed with a hint of something a bit like butter.

Taste: Lightly sweet malts with hints of apples, berries, and butter. The latter is not heavy or in any way nasty. Grainy malt and grassy hop finish.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with little aftertastes. Finishes clean.

Drinkability: Sessiony, uncomplicated. A decent example of a lighter style of beer.

Thomas Hooker Blonde Ale is listed as a cream ale? Interesting... anywho, it's a little bland and boring. It's very drinkable and all but just lacks on the taste, mostly due to the style here. I wouldn't mind having it again at all but just seems a bit too forgettable.
