Bottle from Total Wine. Pale golden, light cloudy, fine thick head. Aroma brings grains and wheat. Taste adds an edge of sweetness, light, effervesccent. lemons, citrus, full.

Nice fruity Belgian Wit, certainly looks the part with a foamy whit head sitting on top of a hazy yellow body. Nice witbier funk on the nose and taste, along with orange peel and coriander. Really like this.

Love whitbeer. This is a pretty bold & fruity wheat with a pleasant spice finish. Pours like a typical wheat beer - thick & foggy. From Japan so was intrigued to try it. Definitely give it a go !

L: Straw yellow and hazy. Tiny bit of carbonation. Bottle has a wheat sediment at the bottom. Shaking the bottle suspends the particles in the solution, like looking at stars in the night sky.

S: Pouring this bottle fills the whole room with a pepper and orange smell.

T: The spices and orange peel come first, followed by a pale malt. My bottle is maybe 5 months old, and it's mellowed down alot from a fresh version. It's still a great drinking experience.

F: Has a prickly, fizzy, fresh and refreshing orange flavor on the front palate. The pepper and spice go down with the malt to please your back palate.

O: Plenty of sophistication. It's excellent. The high price tag is a thing, but you gotta figure it's coming off of a boat from Japan and being shipped to central Ohio... There's like 2 Japanese restaurants in my county that carry this, tops, and me of course.

Cloudy and hazy, with a pale yellow coloration. Very thin head which was quickly faded. Aroma is very floral, citrusy, and bright. Taste follows, with a hoppy, sweet taste underscored by the taste of orange. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, with high carbonation giving the brew a light and refreshing character. First Japanese beer I've had and I'm not disappointed.

Look: Cloudy pale orange. One finger of thick white head with good retention.

Smell: Orange peel and lemon mixed with a mild hop scent.

Taste: Very mild wheat malt with a little orange peel.

Mouthfeel: Average body with very high carbonation.

Overall: A mild, easy drinker with no challenge to the palate.

I dig the colorful label artwork. There is a label on date on the back of the bottle. There is small amount of sediment floating around the pint glass. The aroma is quite muted for the style. The taste is a little juicy from the orange juice, slight hit of spices, some tap water, not bad at all. It's a decent wheat ale that's a little overrated. Cheers! B

Pleasantly surprised by this beer. Pours orange hazy with a 1 Finger white hade that fades into lacing.
Smell is that of some sort of festive spice with some orange, and then maybe some Belgian yeast. Flavor is orangish with those same spices coming thru. Carbonation is perfect: enough there, but yet soft. This beer went very well with my maki rolls and thai food.

12 oz bottle, served at Sushi By Boū in New York, NY.

Poured from the bottle into a glass by the waiter, it had a light amber color with a creamy white head. Very cloudy in appearance. Complex mixed fruit and spice aroma. Orange, lemon, and coriander stand out in both the aroma and flavor. Wheat malt comes out upon tasting. Very fruity, slightly tart and refreshing. I didn't pick up any of the nutmeg that's listed in the ingredients. Medium-light bodied. I sipped this slowly to make sure it would last the duration of my meal, but could have drunk it much faster. The price tag is on the hefty side for what it is but I had to try this classic beer at least once! In all honesty, you could go with Allagash White at a fraction of the price.

An excellent accompaniment to an omakase sushi lunch, as it was versatile enough to pair with the various types of fish.

On tap at Kyatchi MPLS... it pours a slight hazed bright yellow color. Smell and taste was herbal and spicy with banana, orange, clove and citrus. Mouth feel was medium with fruity light bitterness, very enjoyable.

L-Pours a straw gold beer with about a one fingered head. The head is frothy and lively. The beer is cloudy in nature. Looks very nice. Some floaters are present–could be an older beer.
S- Nice spice smell, with a slight phenolic upbringing. Maybe some ginger? Definitely some orange.
T- Taste follows the nose. Some ginger, some orange, some other spices I can imagine like clove. Nice phenolic taste. Very Belgian. Very good. Very smooth.
F- Crisp carbonation. It fits okay with this beer.
O- My first beer from Japan. Impressed with it to be honest. They know what they're doing and their mind is clearly in the right direction. Would certainly try this beer again, and would love to try a fresher beer.

Bottle from M&S. Really excited to try this one...

L3.5 Light and inviting but with little head
S4 Burnt orange and spices
T3 matches the smell but without much else. Some sweetness or something is needed. Maybe I’m just addicted to hops.
F3.75 good carbonation, clean, lacking depth
O3.5 disappointing. Would legitimately rather have a blue moon!!

Pale, cloudy. You're in Belgium. You're in an owl's nest in an orange tree, surrounded by herb bushes. The spices surge just as the beer's flavor starts to fade. What's left is a shimmering throatfeel that conjures bananas in crates on pirate ships. Or better yet: a monastic way of life in a Medieval Europe. Or even better: the slowness of fermentation in fast-paced Tokyo. Slow enough for a beer, or a prayer, or a deep breath, or a fermentation process done just right. Slow enough for a deep gaze at the moon.

L- Pale gold with some cloudiness. Pours with 5mm white head that reduces quite quickly to lacing.
S- I get some hoppy notes, plus a touch of citrus akin to mandarin orange.
T- A little spicing, coriander, and I believe white pepper (at first I thought 'Oh no, sourness, but it's not it's the zing of pepper without the taste of it, hence white pepper i/o black).
M- Clean, refreshing, good carbonation in the mouth.
O- The Hitachino Nest beers are very interesting and worth looking out for. They're not cheap in Japan, so don't be surprised at the cost when imported into the UK. Worth it as an occasional treat! Bought from Whole-Foods, London W8. BB 08/19.

Poured into a Pint Defiance tulip. The body is a hazy golden yellow, with a finger white head. Aromas consist of orange, coriander, cinnamon, wheat, and tangerine. It smells similar to a spiced fruit pie. Flavors are the same. The feel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Very smooth and refreshing.

Pours a hazy straw orange like color with a thumb length bubbly white head. However, the head retention is not particularly long as per style as it soon dissipates completely.
Aromas of coriander, orange peel and light hints of banana.
The taste has a round wheat flavor, as well as a touch of caramel malt, that emits sweetness. Fruity esters evoke flavors of banana. As per style, there is the taste of orange peel as well as lemon. The middle palate is spicy and peppery, the coriander, in particular, balances the sweetness.
Medium bodied, a bit more on the smooth side than crisp.
Good example of the style.

Pours a cloudy light orange-ish color with some yeast chunks and a whisp of fizzy white had that drops to nothing. Fruity wheat flavors/aromas with a hint of banana, soap and minerals. Fairly drinkable, nothing too remarkable.

I poured in into a glass and I must say DAMN I really enjoyed this beer, very smooth and did not leave any after taste , i am definitely going back to get some more .

Hazy yellow golden poor with lively carbonation but short lived white head. Had a grassy, sweet citrus aroma - a bit floral. Taste is bubbly sweet orange, spice - clove/nutmeg - bit of bubblegum and perhaps bit of melon. Crisply carbonated with lively mouthfeel - delicious and full - perfect on a warm spring day.

Clear yet full of flavor. Classified as a Witbier but leans more towards an Ale, as stated by other reviewers. Doesn't have an overly yeasty/bread bouquet instead it gives off lovely and light hints of earthy mushroom and citrus. Some might judge it harsh comparatively to there more established European counterparts. This is a fantastic complement to seafood, preferably crab, scallops and white fish.

Is this Japanese beer worth the premium price? As compared with Belgian craft? No, I think not, but it's interesting and worth 1 try.

Hitachino White is unlike most WIT beer, more of a pale ale.
a) Pours 1 finger of white head supported by a hazed pale orange body, plenty of sediment Decent lasting and lace.
s) Sports a woody, earthy, floral nose, woody, with citrus and belgian like coriander and spice.
t) Follows the smell. Starts with a citrusy bite, followed by a gentle floral hop that lands nicely with earth, flowers, spice, and cleansing tang. Great with sushi.
f) Light and clean, mid weight, nice finish.

Poured from a 12 oz glass into a tulip

L: Semi-opaque light golden pour. 2 fingers of foamy white head. Modest rim of lacing.

S: Delicious... juicy and citrus. Loads of lemon and orange. Light grains.

T/F: Crackery grains... follows the nose with lots of citrus. Lemon, orange, and citrus rind. Grassy... earthy with mild spice (nutmeg, coriander). Light in body... zesty carbonation. Finish is sweet lemongrass.

O: A pretty pleasing witbier. Great citrus flavor... easy drinking... very well made.
