From bottle, pours a dark brown with heaps of white floaties, it has a good light brown head that disapates to a small layer. Aroma coffee, chocolate, cocoa. Taste follows the nose, this is very nicely done. Very beautiful.

330ml bottle into 350ml beer glass.

Poured a very dark brown/black with a descent light brown head which stuck around for a bit and left a film. Some lacing.

Nose is interesting with lots of coffee and a slight woody aroma. A little chocolate.

Palate is nice bit not overly complex - espresso dominates with a woody flavour coming through. A little chocolate.

Mouth is nice. Quite full.

I enjoyed this beer. Not overly complex and a strange woody thing going on that i"m undecided on but it's enjoyable.

Recommended.

Appearance: Black body with a super dense head that’s dark tan, creamy and would make an awesome pillow to sleep on. The lacing is just a thick.
Smell: cocoa nibs, coffee, brown sugar, caramel and mild butter.
Taste: Roasted coffee beans, cocoa butter, slightly bitter and just damned good to drink.
Mouthfeel: Dry, medium bodied and smooth.
Overall: This is one awesome espresso stout, one of the best I’ve tried so far, if you see it don’t pass it up.

another awesome beer from these guys, this one on tap at choice city in fort collins. it has a lot going for it, and a lot of beers that use the "espresso" moniker end up just using coffee, or it tastes like coffee, this tastes like espresso, really and truly, and it tastes like a lot of it was blended in. lets start with the base beer, rich and black, not the least bit sweet, nitro looking chocolate brown head, soft and creamy, excellent retention. smells like black roasted barley, high proportion as its bone dry and ashy, the deepest past malted notes here. some dark chocolate in the flavor, but this is heavy on the dark side without a lot of caramels or pales balancing it out with any sweetness. i think thats a cool base for the espresso, which exudes some of the same dry bitter heavily roasted properties. almost tastes like a half and half blend, its that espresso driven. some acidity here too, it doesnt feel thin, but the java definitely cuts the would be body pretty significantly. insanely dry for a stout like this, and i kind of like the sharpness the proper espresso adds. if you like real bitter espresso, check this one out. everything these guys make is unique, and this is another creative and delicious brew from them. yum!

11.2oz bottle, stamped ES.15.12 (Dec 15?), 7% ABV. Pours black with a large sized khaki head; no lacing. Smells of mostly rich cocoa and coffee with some earthy hops and roasted malt; great smell but could be more intense. The taste follows exactly with more coffee, cocoa, hops, and roasted malt; again great, but could be more intense. Better as it warms to cellar temperature. Fairly earthy with some subtle sweetness and bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel and thinner body; drinkable for an IS. Overall, this is straightforward and tasty stout. Good presence of cocoa and coffee, but also fairly earthy.

This beer pours fairly thick into the glass, with a bit of a brown head.
The nose is minimal. A sight coffee hint.
The taste is interesting. I get a hint of coffee first. Then a bit of sweetness. Then a slight bitterness in the end.

A - Black, with brown hints, opaque, with a tan head about a finger high, fading away to a thin ring and lacing.

S - Roast malts, coffee hints, and a very strong hit of alcohol.

T - Big roast malt, strong coffee and chocolate hit, a hint of soy, a middle full of molasses and toasted bread, and a mildly bitter close.

M - Slick and full, very big for its middle of the road ABV. A bit of dryness in the close.

O - An interesting, pleasant take on the imperial stout. The nose is full of booze, but the taste is moderate. The coffee is not terribly forward, but is present and underpins the molasses and roasted malts.

The colour is black, the two finger head is brown and compact. It sinks slowly leaving some lacing.

The smell is semi-sweet with distinct notes of espresso coffee. Quite a lot of caramel, hints of bitter hops and coffee.

The taste is semi-sweet with lots and lots of coffee and chocolate. Cream and roasted malt, red berries and passing bitterness. Medium body. The aftertaste got even more coffee and some dark chocolate, smooth bitterness and growing clean sweetness. Hints of red berries, cocoa, coconuts and liquorice.

The carbonation is strong, the many small bubbles are fresh and long-lived. The liquid is smooth.

A very smooth beer with elegant coffee and chocolate.
