Review from notes. Enjoyed while on vacation in the UK. Served cool into a pint glass at the Crutched Friar in London, near the Tower of London.

Appearance - A clear and rich dark golden color. A finger of white head is poured and pretty much keeps it shape for the entire duration of the pint.

Smell - Some sweetness that is malty, hints of apple and then some citrus with orange peel shining most prominently. Very subtly the aromatics are great.

Taste - Assertively bitter. Slightly grainy with delicate fruitiness in between sips. Citrus, namely grapefruit and orange peel and rind are the stars in a cloistered manner.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, lower than average carbonation (but perfect for the temperature and the fact it was on draught) and a drying finish.

Overall - Probably the best English IPA I've ever had bar none. Liked it so much I picked up a couple more bottles at the supermarket to compare. They were just as good. Crafting an English IPA properly... I trust no one else.

Poured from the bottle into a wine glass.

Pale orange amber body color. Faint off white head, simple collar, and a clear and pleasant appearance.

Excellent aroma. Cream malt, hop soft herbs and tea. Borders on juicy, even touches of soft vanilla, marmalde also, great stuff.

Palate is a joy. Soft malt mild caramel in mid palate. Hop angle gives excellent herbal tea, touches of soft orange, and jelly. Marmalade finish, touches of soft honey and soft hop bitterness. Cream and hop herbs just rolls off.

Excellent IPA

500ml bottle poured into an English pint glass.

Poured a surprisingly light copper colour with a massive fluffy head which stuck around and left loads of lacing.

Nice complex aromas of lemon, grapefruit and pine along with some biscuity malt - lovely.

Palate is good - crisp and hoppy. Body is light but good mouth. Very nice clean finish.

This isn't really my kind of beer - slightly too hoppy for my taste but it's very well made. Clean, crisp and refreshing. It's an American/English style IPA, made with English and American hops. Done very well - just not my thing. Highly recommended though. It's very well made, well balanced and has complexity.

Color looked great, golden and very, very clear... close to a lager; so clear I could read a sign 100 yards away (albeit upside down.)
Its smell is undistinguished for an IPA, piney and citrusy. Same for its taste.
Mouth feel was interesting until the hops clearly won and stuck on my tongue for about an hour afterwards.
Glad I Had Proper Job, but never again.

My review is probably biased, this is the best beer local to me; has a fairly transatlantic mixture of hops, so it has some citrus American characters, but it doesn't end up overwhelming as it's balanced out by earthier British flavors.
