Clear reddish amber brew with a modest foam in the Kasteel chalice. Strong ginger aroma. Tingly mouthfeel with plenty of carbonation and more than a touch of acidity.

Rather sweet with a malty body. This has an IPA type of bitterness that doesn't exactly complement the other flavors. There is a slight fruity note, like grape jelly. The hops fight it out with the ginger the rest of the way. Hot and bitter with that fruity, spicy delirium.

One tiny sip at a time, this is a most interesting experience. Powerful ginger, so be forewarned. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Malt & Vine in Redmond.

22oz bottle at 41 F poured into a pair of large snifters.

Pours moderately cloudy (I got the second glass), small, almost no head. Light brownish. Smell is strong ginger. Recognizing that this is a fruit/vegetable beer and it says ginger right in the title, I'm considering that for the beer, not against it. But, I don't get any other aroma, which would be nice.

Taste is strong ginger (unsurprisingly, based on the aroma), some vague bitterness -- not sure in combination with the ginger whether its a hoppy bitterness or a property of the ginger berry itself, which may or may not be bitter in itself. Some slight sweetness which helps accentuate the bitterness more than balance it.

Mouthfeel is thinnish and flat. Overall, it's interesting, but not great.
