Rich, Complex, Full-bodied.

Style: Imperial Oatmeal Stout.
Tasting Notes: Pours a deep, midnight black with a light tan head. Smells of coffee and dark chocolate and the mouthfeel is velvety smooth with flavors of roasted malts, oatmeal and warm bread. Dragonstooth is a very drinkable stout-satisfying but not heavy.

Malts: Pale, Munich, C-77, Chocolate, Roasted Barley and Rolled Oats.
Hops: Bittered with Magnum, finished with Cascade and Centennial.
Body: Substantial.
IBU: 56

Pours black with a brown head that has nice lasting power.

Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruits, brown sugar

Taste is dark chocolate, cocoa, burnt brown sugar, chocolate milkshake, coffee and roasted malts

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and cleansing.

Overall, a decent brew. Worth a try.

22oz bottle, experience by 05Jun22. Served in a curved glass. Brown tinged edges around black with a pleasant mocha brown head. Potent aroma suggests unsweetened coffee and sour mash. Flavor doesn't convey nearly as much in the way of a roasted barley flavor, and while there is a hint of that brewed coffee flavor, the focus here is on bitterness and spicy alcohol rather than dark malts. There is a creamy mouthfeel in the finish, but it's degraded by overly fizzy carbonation. I love an imperial stout but this is not my kind.

Appearance: Black. Nice hockey puck of dark tan foam. Lacing all the way down.

Smell: Nothing but pure roasted malt and iron. Beautiful considering how many stouts are bombed with all sorts of flavorings today.

Taste: Coffee, iron, bread. Subtly sweet. Ashy/charcoal aftertaste reminiscent of Guinness Extra Stout.

Feel: Medium bodied. Kinda thin in my opinion. Carbonation is refreshing but not as smooth as I like. Refreshing in the most dangerous way.

Overall: Very good. True to style. Well done.

Poured out of a six-pack, Elysian is a nearby Brewer to me. I have had the pleasure of trying many of their beers. I have had Dragonstooth on tap, but never reviewed until now. It is a classic darkest black. A good and frothy tan mousse head floats atop. I could hear the carbonation on the pour. I get heavy chocolate and biscuit on the nose. A warmed chocolate croissant with dark roast coffee. There are minor hops, as malt take priority here. On the palate, the forefront is an even deeper, toastier biscuit that gives way to more chocolate. Initially there is a hop presence, but very short and weak. The oats are detectable in both flavor, and silkiness of the mouthfeel. Dragonstooth is delectably smooth not bitter whatsoever. At 8.1abv, it does not drink like an imperial, more a dry stout.
Overall, I am quite pleased with this brew. It is quaffable, yet attracts those interested in a richer and more savory experience without the heavy burden. Expect earthy, creamy, chocolate notes.

Tastes of dark malt and a dark chocolate finish with a mild lingering bitterness. There is some char mixed in and has a medium mouthfeel. Nice, well done oatmeal stout.

22oz bottle with an Enjoy By date of 4/5/21 poured into a Teku on 12/12/20.

1" light tan head. Black and opaque. Nice lacing.

Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, and dried cherry.

Taste follows the nose, with a lingering bitterness on the finish.

Mouthfeel is smooth with a light carbonation. Medium-bodied, and not overly thick.

A very good Imperial Stout with a nice hop bitterness.
