Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a snifter.

Appearance: Black as night with about a finger of coffee ice cream colored head. Very attractive looking pour.

Smell: At first it's roasted malts and dark coffee, but then the pumpkin and cinnamon make an appearance. They work together quite well.

Taste: Roasted malts and bittersweet chocolate emerge followed by some cinnamon and other spices. The pumpkin shows up at the end of the sip and is subdued and adds a little earthiness to the sip. Very enjoyable tasting beer.

Mouthfeel: Not as thick as other stouts, but a rather full mouthfeel. It's fairly silky and smooth.

Overall: I really enjoyed this beer...an interesting take on the pumpkin beer. The roastiness of the stout melds very well with the traditional pumpkin ale spices.

Pours a deep chocolate brown with a creamy dark beige head that left one full ring of dark lace as it settled into a frothy mass.Wow cinnamon and chocolate really jump out at ya in the nose, the cinnamon is spicy and goes well with the chocolate and roasted notes.A nice creamy feel to the beer adds to it's richness and pairs well with the flavors.Mild roast and chocolate that runs into a big dose of spicy sweet cinnamon in the finish. One of the best...if not the best pumpkin beer of any style I have had,Elysian can throw down with some pumpkin beers.

Bomber courtesy of 5000, thanks Andre!

Poured a deep black with a small, short lived tan head. The aroma was overwhelming chocolate and heavy malts. The taste is pretty good. The initial taste is sweet and consists of cinammon. This changes to a deep chocolate and heavy malt taste. Carbonation was medium and the beer laced the entire glass. A very good adaptation to the pumpkin beers that I am used to.

Poured from bomber into pint glass.
Dark. Very dark. Coffee brown head with nice retention and lace.
Lives up to description well. Chocolate, coffee, pumpkin, cinnamon notes throughout. Slight tangyness in the mouthfeel reflective of the alcohol.
All in all, a game changer for me. Didn't think much of pumpkin beers until I tried this one.

Pours opaque, dark brown in color with 1/2 inch head. Taste is clove, cinnamon, cocoa, and brown sugar. Very very good beer. This may be my favorite pumpkin beer I have tried this season. Excellent roastiness and balance.

Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle. Reviewed from notes.

The beer pours a very dark brown to black color with a large tan head. The aroma has a ton of cinnamon in it, as well as some pumpkin, nutmeg and allspice. The flavor also has a lot of spices in it. I get some cinnamon, clove, allspice and nutmeg, as well as some pumpkin and quite a bit of roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Black as night with no light penetration. There's a fingernail of creamy brown on top. The aroma is full of pumpkin, cinnamon, and dark chocolate. I'm tasting dark malt, pumpkin, and a light amount of chocolate. The mouth is lightly chewy and sticky.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours midnight black with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of tan head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A roasty and spicy aroma with a scent of pumpkin spice and chocolate. Big upfront scent of pumpkin spices with some cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and allspice. Good hints of pumpkin. Roasted malt with hints of chocolate, coffee, toast, biscuit, and nuts with yeast. Subtle hints of earthy hops. A pretty nice aroma.

Taste: Like the smell hints at, a roasty and spicy taste with notes of pumpkin spice and chocolate. Upfront mix of pumpkin spice with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and clove. Some nice notes of pumpkin. Roasted malt with notes of chocolate, coffee, toast, biscuit, and nuts along with some yeast. Light earthy hop bitterness. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy and smooth.

Overall: A very good Pumpkin Stout. Nice mix of pumpkin spices and roasty malt.

22 oz bottle with a packaging date of 14 Sept. 2016 served in goblet. Pours essentially black with a modest size tan head that soon reduces to a ring. Near minimal lacing.

Delicious, bready aroma with cinnamon and faint signs of other spices. The flavor follows but does not have quite as much cinnamon as the aroma suggests. The flavor contains notes of cinnamon, brown bread, nutmeg, allspice, baked pumpkin, and brown sugar, with faint coffee and chocolate. Lightly sweet but neutral by the aftertaste.

Feel: full and creamy smooth body with excellent, soft medium+ carbonation.

Overall: a pleasant surprise, one of the best pumpkin beers I've had. Notably similar to the Buffalo's Black Pumpkin I had 2 nights ago, but more spicing and less bitterness.

I really enjoyed this beer, but not for the reasons that I thought I would. Yes, it was a thick stout, with a creamy chocolate flavour and smooth malty finish. But what really jumped out at me was the pumpkin flavour: this wasn't some tame or demure pumpkin pie overtone, this was a smash of fresh pumpkin with a sprinkling of vibrant cinnamon! I'm rarely impressed by pumpkin flavour, I tend to judge the pumpkin beers more harshly than others. I'm pretty picky when it comes down to the balance of spices, and the texture of the pumpkin. The reason this one stood out to me was the freshness; the flavour seemed to jump out of the glass, as if it had just been brewed this morning. And I don't mean it was raw or harsh, it was still smooth and creamy but with a liveliness that was new to me. I will definitely be going back for another bottle of this for Halloween night.
