Black as night with no light penetration. There's a fingernail of creamy brown on top. The aroma is full of pumpkin, cinnamon, and dark chocolate. I'm tasting dark malt, pumpkin, and a light amount of chocolate. The mouth is lightly chewy and sticky.

22oz bottle from notes
10/20/15 – Stone IRS snifter

Pours dark as night can be with a smallish layer of espresso whipped foam. Some minimal amount of dotted stick decorates the glass.
Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, light roast coffee, earthy with cinnamon accents and some accompanying pumpkin pie spice aromas. Not getting much actual gourd here but all in all it comes together nicely. The flavor blooms with initial cocoa powder and modest earthy charred coffee. The holiday spices assert with an emphasis on some Saigon cinnamon stick, then the lightly roasted pumpkin, and some more earthy roast flavors at the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate and overall a nice creamy feel. A tad on the thinner side. I would love to see a more Imperialized version of this with a bit more robusto in the body but the flavors are still nice.

This stout was way more chocolate-y than I imagined. The pumpkin flavor is there but it's overpowered by the chocolate notes. I also taste a bunch of the cinnamon too. Overall, quite an enjoyable stout to drink but don't expect a bunch of pumpkin.

22 oz bottle with a packaging date of 14 Sept. 2016 served in goblet. Pours essentially black with a modest size tan head that soon reduces to a ring. Near minimal lacing.

Delicious, bready aroma with cinnamon and faint signs of other spices. The flavor follows but does not have quite as much cinnamon as the aroma suggests. The flavor contains notes of cinnamon, brown bread, nutmeg, allspice, baked pumpkin, and brown sugar, with faint coffee and chocolate. Lightly sweet but neutral by the aftertaste.

Feel: full and creamy smooth body with excellent, soft medium+ carbonation.

Overall: a pleasant surprise, one of the best pumpkin beers I've had. Notably similar to the Buffalo's Black Pumpkin I had 2 nights ago, but more spicing and less bitterness.

Look: It pours black with a dark brown head that is quite frothy.

Smell: The initial aroma is sugary sweet. It has strong aromas of cinnamon, pumpkin, and roast.

Taste: It has a smoky, roast cinnamon and pumpkin tastes that are prominent. There are hints of fruity esters, a wee bit of chocolate, and slight spice.

Feel: It has a moderately-heavy body with a smooth creaminess to it. The finish is somewhat bittersweet with the roasted flavors being forward.

Overall, this is a roasted stout with enough that it gives the impression of smoke that highlights the cinnamon and pumpkin.
