Served On-Tap

A — Pours a clear and vivid pale pale yellow into the glass. There is no semblance of a head, and there is minimal lace left behind.

S — Smell is pungent and aggressive, with notes of bitter powdered ginger and cinnamon, lightly sweet Pilsner malt base lies underneath, but its dominated by ginger and cinnamon.

T — Much like the nose, there is a light pilsner sweetness initially, but it is overpowered and dominated by cheap ground ginger and cinnamon flavors, bitter and fairly off-putting.

M — Light in body, though there is an odd lingering aftertaste of sweet malts.

O — Not great overall, pretty much dominated by cheap powdered ginger and cinnamon, not a favorite.

Poured from a bomber into a conic pint glass in high elevation Kalispell, Mont. Reviewed live.

A- One-finger white head that recedes quickly. Hazy goldenrod color.

S- Strong ginger aroma. I hate ginger. Pumpkin flavor is here too. Crisp pils smells sneak in at the end, but they are beaten down by the other aromas. Not a fan.

T- Ginger ginger ginger. I dislike this intensely. Once you get beyond the ginger, the pilsner notes come out.

M- Slightly vinous feel and light body.

O- I really don't like ginger. That kinda ruins the whole beer for me. Sorry Elysian.

Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white head. In the aroma, a small dryness, but not much there. In the taste, A small spice and small dryness, which hides the basic pils tastes. A spice like bite and a watery and lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry spice in the aftertaste. Thin, watery, and a bit strange, not a fan of this one.

From 10/17/13 notes. Had on tap at Ginger Man in NYC, served in a tulip.

a - Pours a hazy golden orange color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of spices, ginger, veggies, light pumkins, yams, and pepper. Not a fan of the nose at all...all spices and ginger to me.

t - Tastes of ginger, light pumkin, bread, spice, pepper, toasted malts, vegetables. Little more pumpkin here and little less spice, better than the nose, though still not great.

m - Medium body and low carbonation.

o - Overall I wasn't a big fan of this one at all. The ginger and spices dominate, and there isn't much else to it. Wouldn't seek it out again.
