I am a lucky person. I realize that without being haughty. The pizza joint two blocks from my house always has this on tap.
It pours a light amber with a puffy head head that leaves a ton of lace. Nice carbonation.
It smells like orange rind and grapefruit with just a hint of biscuity malt. It tastes just like it smells without the sweet malt. It is quite bitter. It's interesting that it's regularly served at a pizza place cause it's quite the palate killer. Too many of these and there's no flavor to the Caesar salad and you need lots of spices on the pizza.
It's very drinkable. While I noted that this review is from a tap, I've had this out of the bottle many times. I especially liked the speciality case Elysian had a couple of summers ago --- it was a 9-pack that came in a box with a baseball score card on one of the flaps. Very cool. A beer per inning.

A: This brew poured a copper orange color with a very nice looking 1-2 inch head that lingered for most of the beers life. It left moderate lacing along side my plastic cup at Qwest Field.
S: There is a dominant citrus hop note with a pretty solid sweetish malt balance. Very refreshing in the nose.
T: Big at the first taste with a hop kick that has a nutty character to follow. Very clean and refreshing and tasted excellent. I think this could almost pass as an IPA.
M: Very smooth, crisp, medium-bodied with some dryness throughout.
D: This brew is a good session beer. Taste great, good bitter hop. Wasn't too filling at all. I am a big Manny's Pale Ale fan and this was the closest thing to Manny's as I have ever had.
I will for sure drink this again. Great beer!

Copper-colored, slightly hazed, and with a pitted white head, Elysian's pale yields a breezy floral aroma and (oddly) more overall hop flavor than the Immortal IPA. The flavor tilts towards a thready, citric hoppiness that some might find perhaps too assertive for the pale ale style. But I really can't complain. The hops maintain a soft white head and the plump mouthfeel enhances drinkability.

On tap at the Elk Public House in Spokane. Served in a pint glass.
Pours a deep copper color is slightly hazy. A rich foamy off-white head, with a yellow tinge caps the beer ad is remarkably resilient. Rings of lace line the empty glass all the way to the bottom.
The smell is a fruity citrus aroma, with a little malt backbone along side.
The taste if a sour citrus flavor, with some evergreen notes, and a little caramel flavor. A bitter aftertaste lingers after the swallow. A very rich full flavored pale ale. It is reminiscent of an IPA .
Mouthfeel is full-bodied, but clean and crisp as well.
A very drinkable and robust pale ale. If you want a full flavored pale, with a lot of hoppy fruitiness this is a good one. I would have this again.
NOTE: According to the Elysian web site the ABV is 4.8%.

A good northwestern pale ale in that the hops do not dominate. The ale pours a clear amber with a medium head that forms and lingers. The aroma is filled with deep roasted and toasted malt aromas and distant hop spiciness. Very smooth. The taste is again filled with flavorful caramel and toasted malt sweetness all balanced with a generous hop bitterness. The body is medium, making this beer an easy-to-drink session beer when one is a bit tired of hophead beers.

Presentation - served cold in a standard pint glass
A - Slightly hazed copper w/ white head that leaves rings of sticky lace.
S - Pine coney hop and other bitter aromas w/ a subtle malt back.
M - Medium bodied, highly bitter at first, fades into a nice crisp maltiness.
T - Plenty of alpha acids - pine and citrus. Not too bitter, but enough to get your attention. the Malt supports the hop acidity well.
D - A nice bitter, smooth, quaffable, and balanced ale.

Appearance: clear amber / orange color with a 1" head that fell quickly to a surface foam. Some moderate lacing developed.
Smell: floral hops and some mild orange citrus.
Taste: nice malt backbone here, with some mild floral bitterness and mild citrus tones. The caramel sweetness is upfront while the bitterness helps balance it out. Very fresh too.
Mouthfeel: crisp at the start, slightly dry at the finish. The flavor elements linger briefly into the aftertaste. Medium bodied.
Drinkability: solid session pale ale here. A worthy selection at the brewpub.

I had this on tap at Shuckers which is a very nice pub attached to the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Seattle. The beer was served in a faceted English style pub mug. It was a nice bronze with a good off-white head.
The aroma was very nice. Lots of citrus hop aroma and a bit of fresh biscuit thrown in.
The taste was solid. Slightly bitter as expected. Juicy hop flavors (pine and citrus again) that are complimented by some slightly toasted sweet malts.
The beer had slightly elevated carbonation, but still remained chewy and somewhat thick. Extreemly easy drinker. I had four with my dinner and it went great with the oysters, salad, soup, etc. Well done session beer!

Appearance This one is a solid orange in color and clear. It sports a gorgeous head that showed good retention and even left a bit of lacing on the inside of my Ruination glass.
Smell This nose is balanced towards hops with some good citrus and a lot of leafy-type of hop notes. Theres a sweetish malt balance here as well.
Taste This is bigger at the taste. The nut character is huge and almost overpowers the rest of the beer. Its much more balanced at the taste.
Mouthfeel Id call this ale just barely medium-bodied with some dryness throughout.
Drinkability This ale has the body to go session but the flavors are a bit too sharp. It went down really well though.

Served on tap at the brewery, a transparent golden color, with a small white head. Smell and taste is that of hops with a little sweetness. The taste added a nutty quality to the mix.
It's a bit thin and the flavor of alcohol isnt as well masked as i'd like, and I felt it was a bit bland. Quite drinkable though.
