I purchased this beer because I have had and enjoyed Elysian, in the past, and was drawn in by the awesome title.
Pours an amber orange color, not much head and a thin ringlike lace. Smells sweet with lots of caramel malts in the nose; also some biscuity malts. Initially the taste is sweet on the tongue, the caramel malts mirror the aroma. Soon enough though, the hops really come through. The bitterness is medium to low but has a bite to it. The hops flavor is floral and lemony. There is a bitterness in the finish and aftertaste that is a bit too much at times. The mouthfeel is medium. The carbonation is generally soft but has a crispness to it when cold. Pretty easy to drink.
Overall I'm glad I got this. It has some minor flaws in the aftertaste but is generally tasty.

2 of my all time favorite things, delicious craft brew & Sub Pop records. Ahhhh, I remember getting those lousy 7" records from the local record shop, throwing them on my old crappy turn table & having many beers with friends. Back when Red Hook was actually made in Seattle. Mudhoney(1 of my all time faves, who are still rockin today) grace the bottle label in awesome circa 89 fashion.

Loser Pale Ale. Brewed to celebrate 20 years of Sub Pop Records. What losers. I seeked this brew out via a trade after hearing about it. Unsure if Jack Endino was involved in the engineering of this brew. This brew was a limited release on marbled vinyl.

I threw on my old flannel, LOSER t shirt, ripped jeans, my AFGAN WHIG, docs & beanie, and found some SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE for this tasting. Let's go. Come on down to GREEN RIVER, let's BOTTLE UP AND GO.

Pours a nice caramel color with frothy 1 finger head. Oh, SWEET OBLIVION does it look nice. I cant wait to GET INTO YOURS.

Big sweet malt aroma with a faint citrus hop presence that is HUNTED DOWN as well. Just a TAD though. I'm guessing that's no MALFUNKSHUN by the brewer.

Nice hop bite in the front before a tidal wave of sweet maltiness SPANKS THRU like a MURDER CITY DEVIL. Lingering hop bitterness that is DRY AS A BONE.

THE FLUID feels smooth, creamy, and more medium bodied than Chris Cornell's sexy hair.

Line em up BIG CHIEF. I could drink these all night long. Until I have a nice LOVE BUZZ. Or maybe until I THOWN UPS, or maybe until I'm DOUBLED OVER AGAIN, or RUNNING LOADED, or FLAT OUT FUCKED. All I know is that WHEN TOMORROW HITS, it will be a bummer.

I'd give my right MARK ARM for a couple more bottles of this stuff. Even Steve Turner and his Bad Ideas couldn't keep me from having more. This beer is HARDLY ART. MINUS 5 for not being available in Northern California, it's an UGLY SUNDAY for me.

Sorry for all that.

APA is my favorite style. This one is original, and worth trying.

A: Pours a deep amber color, with a midsized off-white head that fades normally and leaves only a little lace.

S: The aroma is too faint. Some grassy hops, caramel malts and citrus. Grassy.

T: The taste follows the smell but is much more interesting, starts out honey sweet with a nice arc of sweet citrus, fresh flowers, and bitter piney hops.

F: The finish is lightly hoppy and slightly sweet, sticky.

O: Easy beer to enjoy, wish I had another.

I like the grapefruity hops kick up front and middle, with the middle fading to the back with a mild wood sweetness. The smell is subtle with a balance of both...this is how a beer should smell! Best smell I've smelt in a long time. Feel is mostly watery with a slight thickness. The flavors linger on the tongue for a long while. I think my first 12oz was skunked cuz it tasted a bit stale and king of like keg rot(overly metallica). The second one I'm having is way more enjoyable.

Had this at Elysian. This was pretty smooth, good for its style, but for me I like more bite.

A: The beer beer pour a lightly hazy, deep gold with small particulate floaters. The off-white settles to a thin cap on top after a minute.

S: The is moderate hops aroma that is a spicy and flowery with a bit of lemon. The malt is almost no existent and there is a slight fruit ester.

T: The flavor is a good balance between a medium lemony hop flavor and a medium malt with a light bready character. There is a moderately high hops bitterness that carries through the dry finish.

M: It has a medium-light body and moderate carbonation. There is slight hint of alcohol warmth.

O: An enjoyable better than average pale ale. They've done a good job keeping the sorachi ace restrained but it's not a hop flavor I enjoy on it's own.

I loved the color. A pretty amber orange very similar to a Hop Valley Alphadelic but less turbid. Nice mild citrus flavor, not extremely butter or overly hoppy but tasty. Can't wait to have another tomorrow.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery sent to be before the buyout.

Good looking froth on this one, hazy amber color. Citrus, leafy, earthy push of hops in the nose with some bread undertones and ripe pear. Juicy hop palate with a fresh grainy base. Suggestions of pineapple skin, blood orange rind, birch sap, & bready dough in the middle. Mild toasted malt character followed by a hint of caramel lead the way to help balance this brew out. Hint of alcohol and fruitiness in the finish, lingering bitterness as well.

A very well balanced Pale Ale even though the bitterness is a bit pushy in the end, excellent use of the Sorachi Ace hops.

Growlers being filled in Ardsley, NY @ DeCiccio's market. Pours lighter amber, light khaki head and then the emergence of world class sheeting and lace on the glass. Tiny bubble and fully developed, slowly sliding down the sides of the glass then staying in place. Nose here is underwhelming, just a hint of some piney hops and dull maltyness. Quite tasty ale, on the hoppy side. Light mintyness, a touch of pine, light bran infused malt. Enjoyable sessioner. I have not seen bottles of this one, so a nice treat to have a growler pour option available. Well worth a try.

22oz bomber poured in a snifter.

Pours a golden color with a small head that stays around for quite a while. On the nose is some amazing potato chip aromas. Not sure if they wanted this, but it really smells like putting your nose into a bag of Lays potato chips. I really thought it was cool.

It tastes a little salty with some solid maltiness and a bit of sweetness. Overall it's a really cool beer and I'd have it again!

picked up a growler of this at the orchard park consumers. fridge temp poured into a bulb style glass.

pours a cloudy reddish amber with a huge billowy, slightly off white head. great retention with a little lace.

in the aroma, lots of biscuit and a little caramel balanced by tropical fruity hops and a light dry citrus.

the taste follows the aroma almost identically. a really unique deelicious biscuit flavor from the malt while still having a nice hop presence.

a little dry on the palate in the finish, slightly heavier side of medium bodied.

overall: a solid pale ale, almost an IPA. i really enjoyed the flavors from the malt, and as a homebrewer, its nice to see the use of some ingredients new to the market, crystal, sorachi ace hops, and carahell malts. id drink this again.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of off white head that settles into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: An earthy and juicy aroma with a scent of citrus and grass. Earthy hop scent of wet grass. Citrus hints of orange, grapefruit, and lemon. Malt hints of caramel, grains, and cracker with yeast. A solid balanced aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, an earthy and juicy taste with notes of citrus and grass. Citrus hop notes of orange, grapefruit, pineapple, and lemon. Earthy hop notes of grass. Malt notes of caramel, grains, and cracker along with some yeast. A solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, drying, and smooth.

Overall: A solid take on a Pale Ale. Nice balance of hops and caramel malt.
