APA is my favorite style. This one is original, and worth trying.

A: Pours a deep amber color, with a midsized off-white head that fades normally and leaves only a little lace.

S: The aroma is too faint. Some grassy hops, caramel malts and citrus. Grassy.

T: The taste follows the smell but is much more interesting, starts out honey sweet with a nice arc of sweet citrus, fresh flowers, and bitter piney hops.

F: The finish is lightly hoppy and slightly sweet, sticky.

O: Easy beer to enjoy, wish I had another.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark copper color. The head is a finger high, with a white shade. Retention is pretty bad, unfortunately. However, a bit of lacing is left on the glass. Not a very pretty beer. (2.5)

Smell: This is a pretty typical pale ale. I'm not getting many tropical fruit notes - rather, the hop profile seems floral and nectary. In addition, it's fairly malty. I'm picking up a lot of caramel and sugar cookie in particular. Not mold breaking by any means, but decent enough for what it is. (3)

Taste: No surprises here. Floral hops hit the palate immediately, only to fade before they can bitterly linger on the palate. A healthy, caramel-laden malt backbone ends up being the dominating note. Despite all the flowery hop flavors, it isn't very bitter at all. This one slightly grows on me after a while - the hop/malt interplay is pleasant, if slightly erring towards maltiness too much. (3.25)

Mouthfeel: Unusually creamy for a pale ale - I'm surprised how full-bodied it is. There is some dryness to the finish as well. The drinkability is moderate, overall, but the carbonation does will it down more easily. (3.25)

Overall: This is a pale ale for those who like them rich and malty. Those looking for big tropical notes, look elsewhere. Those looking for a palpable malt backbone and hops only to balance, this is your pale ale. (3)

3.11/5: Nice hops, but the maltiness is a bit much for me
