Enjoyed on-tap @ the Beer Shoppe in Yakima, WA for $4. Tapped from the Elysian Wasteland Tap Handle into a 16oz Beer Shoppe Pint Glass.

Aroma- Very pleasant and appropriate for the style. Light coriander and a good amount of spice.

Appearance- Received with a .5 finger head that dies immediately. Has an orange, semi hazy body but leaves no lacing behind.

Flavor- A huge orange flavor starts this one out and then has the coriander note found in the aroma. No spices found and has a light bitterness level.

Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied, Light-Medium Carbonation, Effervescent, and prickles with citrus on the finish.

Overall Impression- A very drinkable Saison but didn't have the greatest appearance... Wouldn't have guessed it was a beer in this style from it! Otherwise, good citrus/coriander taste and very close to the style in every category.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours an odd coppery golden amber, with a nice one finger white head that dissipates slowly to a ring around the glass and islands of foam. Aroma of sweet malt with saison yeast, pleasantly floral. Flavor follows aroma with distinct saison yeast, coriander and sweet malt, with interesting fruit and floral esters, slightly astringent and dry finish. A bit more malt body than expected for a saison, but works quite well. Too sweet and floral for a true saison, but I really liked this and thought that it worked really well. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. So far all the the apocalypse ales have pushed the envelope and are unusual for their styles, but I have really enjoyed all of them. I'm impressed that Elysian has been able to pull this off each month with enjoyable experimental ales. The end of the world, if and when it comes, is well served by this series.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a semi-hazy golden amber color with just the thinnest ring of off-white head that had no retention and lacing.

The aroma had a typical Saison yeast spice scent upfront, with a solid grainy base as a foundation. A hint of floral and/or fruity notes were faint at the back end. The flavors, while somewhat atypical, were pretty good. The expected earthiness was there, along with yeast and spice, what was different was the fruitiness of the Elderflowers. I'm not totally sure they were a positive addition, but they weren't terrible either.

The body was solidly good, nicely medium and dry. Drinkability was very good, you could have several easily (but I think that way about most Saisons). Overall, a pretty good brew that's worth trying if you see it. You might want to ignore the style guidelines when trying this and just enjoy it for what it is.

A- Dark for a Saison. Looks more like an IPA. Copper colored.

S- Right away, this shows off floral aromatics along with some sweeter herbal scents. Pleasant to sniff, but a bit muddled too.

T- This tastes a bit soapy as it enters, but quickly picks up some melon and lemon verbena. This persists through the mid palate with a good interplay of crisp and herbal flavors.

M- This falls flat here. Average carbonation, but no depth or weight behind the flavors in the mouth. It just disappaited in the mouth and had a drying component rather than offering any texture or complexity.

O- I like Elysian in general, but this series has been disappointing overall. The beers aren't bad, but this one is emblematic as it is simply average and forgettable.

#6 of 12 beers of the Apocalyse - June
Label is interesting with a naked dude walking in a crater with what appear to be serpent sperm. I feel like the name and artwork infer somebody is infertile...

Hazy toasted gold with a sheet of fine white bubbles. The yeast comes up front in the nose, sweet grain and coriander with some clay like notes. The elderflowers are in here and initially are subdued and difficult to find through the yeast, but once the beer warms and opens up, it's there and it makes me miss mamouche. Flavor - too much yeast! Wowza, very yeasty and creamy with sweetness and yeast. The elderflowers are more prevalent in the flavor, but the yeast is just soo overpowering it's difficult to enjoy the elderflower flavor. Medium on heavy body with low carb and a thick creamy finish - not the way I like the body here. I really wanted to like this beer, but my mouth was overburdened here. Shitty because I really love elderflowers. Le sigh.

#6 beer in the "12 Beers of the Apocalypse" series... Picked up tonight at the COOP for about $7.

Poured into my slip tulip a short lasting one finger head arises leaving little lacing... the brew is hazed orange.

The nose is pretty astringent... I guess is what is the Elderflowers.. almost tea-like.... Lightly phenolic and only bits of something that I associate with pear and ripe apple.

Again, the flavor is a bit abrasive... the floral notes are a touch harsh.. more fruity esters than the nose... but still a decent lingering phenolic note that seems about right.

Body may be a touch thick.. carbonation is also a little light for the style.

I see the bones of something "saison", but spices do not make it a whole lot better.

This is however probably the only one of the Apocalypse series that I see lasting through December.
