Blood Orange Ale (Apocalypse Series No. 8).
Down, down, down Maelstrom will go, pulling the hapless beer enthusiast in with a beguiling blend of blood orange, Northwest hops and sweet orange peel. Stray too close and you may not escape the currents of this tender trap. Blood orange provides tartness and the blush of a brazen sea, Citra and Amarillo hops from the Yakima Valley offer bite and aroma, and orange peel suggests a little something else on the wind.
Maelstrom is brewed with pale, Munich and Dextri-pils malts, bittered with German Northern Brewer and finished and dry-hopped with Citra and Amarillo.

No bottle date. I think this should be listed as an APA rather than a Fruit beer, as it's identified by the brewer as a Pale.
Turbid orange with loosely associated soapy whites around the rim and an etched surface. Nose is way hoppier than I had anticipated: dank, grapefruit, resin, some orange if I beg for it, but not particularly evident. If they didn't say there was fruit, I wouldn't guess it. Flavor is bitter, with some fruity character (mostly bitter grapefruit), not much more than resin and some biscuity undertones of malt. More like an IPA for me. Medium bodied with reserved carbonation and a semi dry finish. This is drinkable, but more like a sub par PNW IPA rather than a specially concocted fruit infused pale ale.

Poured this fruit beer from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Poured a cloudy orange color, produces a thick cream colored head - good retention and a nice amount of lacing left behind. The aroma consisted of pale malt, citrus, and blood orange. Light in body, crisp, refreshing- nice amount of pale malt- sweet citrus flavor- excellent dose of oranges. Overall, if your looking for a light flavorful summer beer, try this offering. Would make an excellent session beer.

First had: on tap at City Tap House, Philly, PA
Poured an orange-amber color, massively cloudy to the point of opacity, with a small white, bubbly head that sank to a thin layer and left a bit of lacing on the glass. As promised, lots of citrus in the nose, with a bit of pale malt sweetness in the background. Huge blast of orange pith in the taste, fairly juicy, but mostly bitter, distant pale malts once again pushed into the background, as the citrus was clearly in command. Light-medium body, crisp and flavorful, but very pithy...good if that's your thing, bad if it's not. I enjoyed it.
