This beer is actually a 6.4% abv not 5.4% - Just sayin. Overall this is a great pale ale. It has very little aroma. I have a bad sense of smell as it is but I am confident that this beer has very little late hop additions or dry hopping in their process. Regardless, this is a great pale ale. It has a nice middle hop bitterness. The Elysian website says they use Cascade and Northern brewer for bittering and Cita + Amarillo for finishing - which makes for a great citrusy west pale ale. There is some type of orange flavoring added to this brew because on the finish there is a very noticeable orange tang. It is not overbearing - just noticeable which is the way it should be. I find this beer gets better as it warms a little. I would buy this again for sure. Cheers

Not a bad beer, I bought it mostly due to the label to be honest. I haven't had a blood orange beer WOW me, and this one didn't either. However it was good and drinkable and certainly not bad, just more along the lines of average.

This is an easy sipping ale. Sort of not far off a Radler in terms of mouthfeel and fruit profile. Muted hops. Very decent but nothing to write home about.

Too light. This beer suffers in comparison to Elysians own Space Dust, a fine IPA, and what I just had my go to IPA Deschuttes Fresh Squeezed IPA. I swear: I don't work for Deschuttes, never been to the brewery. and having lived in Seattle I would want to love a Seattle based craft beer. This stuff to my taste: too much coriander. Not enough piney hops. I am not tasting the blood orange that much either. This stuff tastes a lot like Avery's White Rascal. If you like White Rascal you will like this. Nothing particularly distinctive and I would not turn this down. It is okay, but I would never buy it.

Pretty, deep yellow orange. Hazy - unfiltered.

Smell of apricots. Reminiscent of Dogfish Head 90 minute. I suppose there's some orange, too, but that's not the dominant taste.

Taste is /bitter/. Peach pits and hops. Orange rind.

Feel is moderate, slightly rich.

Good integrity. Al this comes together nicely.

Clear amber colored head with just a wisp of white head, unremarkable.

Smells of oranges and malt. Fainter scents of wood and grass.

Starts off Mild pale ale with an orange after taste. Grassy and woody. Slightly sweet. Very slight bitterness.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall OK, but Boring.

I really enjoyed this. I'm surprised this isn't getting stronger reviews.

Sure in the general citrus "PA" arena I'd prefer Sculpin (and just bought both). And maybe the folks looking for intense hoppy bitterness might not get the same kick as an IPA. However it's an APA and it's really solid and honestly it's pretty original. Very drinkable and balanced. It's clearly presents citrus (it i not a creamscicle - ignore that review unless your creamsicles have pine needles in them) It's nice and floral/citrus/grapefruity in terms of aroma and taste. I'll buy this again.

Pours a very hazy dark golden orange color with banana yellow edges and a two finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Nice retention, taking longer to settle than expected and leaving large streaks of soapy lacing behind. A little darker and cloudier than I prefer but this beer has nice head retention and lacing.

Slightly earthy floral hop aroma with grassy pine and dank resins countered by pale malt and sweet, zesty citrus. The blood orange stands out with zest and fleshy citrus fruit. A little bit of bread/biscuit from the malts but they don't hinder the hops or citrus.

Fuller bodied than expected with a crisp hop bite and some zesty citrus fruit sweetness. Dank and earthy with some grassy pine and bitter resins countered by a strong citrus/blood orange character. Orange peel, ruby red grapefruit, mango and pineapple sweetness but the blood orange is very prominent. Again, the malt presence is light with some bread and caramel providing nice balance without hindering the hop and citrus flavors. Well balanced and easy to drink.

On tap at Bruski’s Burgers in Scripps Ranch, CA
Full pint – noted 06/04/2015

A: The Superfuzz arrives a warm peach colored body with a hazy glow in appearance. Almost looks to be fuzzy as it sits in the glass. A smallish layer of vanilla cream comes ot rest over top. Stays true for a few minutes bvefore sliding back down into the glass. There a good smattering of sticky lace along the glass walls.

S: This one opens up all orange juice. Pulp, zest, flesh and all. A very nice whole fruit forward approach. Underneath lies some earthy hops and grassy hops and somewhere in between they meet up with a little toasted grains and pale malts. Very fresh fruit forward which is nice.

T: Tons of orange in the flavor as well along with some cream. More orange juice and pulp here and the pale malts offer up a nice creamy sweetness. Actually this is near spot on to one of those 50/50 orange creamsicle ice cream bars. I get a light earthy bitterness and a touch of herbal noted in the finish. Well balanced and refreshing to drink.

M: Moderately filling with a seemingly low carb makes for a creamy smooth feel across the palate. Touch of bitter constricting mid to back end. Lightly drying and fairly clean overall. The finish ends up a touch on the wetter side I would say.

D: Great orange fruit flavor and aroma. Nicely balanced and refreshingly quaffable. Been wanting to give this one a try so nice to find on tap here. Another solid little brew from Elysian.

Normal pale ale aromas and taste, citrus from blood oranges softens the hop bitterness, but still has a dry finish. Overall good looking beer, medium creamy head and decent lacing. Hazy pale golden body, with some fruit and malt in the aroma, mild sweet flavor. Nice summertime brew.
