Hazy orange amber with sunny edges with a thin tan frothy head with okay retention and poor lacing. Sweet citrus aroma. Bright grapefruit with light citrus and a heavy malt backbone and a light alcohol finish. Moderate bitter linger. Even carbonated mouthfeel.

A fair amount heavier in the malt than the regular IPA. Surprisingly balanced and easy to drink which also unfortunately makes it a bit ... boring. I really hesitate to say this because it is still a nice beer, just a bit of a departure from the regular IPA and somewhat surprising considering the heavily hopped flavor of their single IPA. Certainly not a bad offering by any stretch of the imagination.

I had this beer fresh, and on tap at Boundary Bay in Bellingham, WA/ It poured dark amber and hazy. No head. Strong aroma of citrus and toffee. Big grapefruit profile in the nose. You can smell the alcohol. Taste is grapefruit up front, some toffee and sherry. Lots of heat. Slick mouth feel. This reminds me a little of Devil Dancer from Founders. This is a better beer with superior mouth feel, and a decent drinkability, but it is still a bit muddled like Devil Dancer. I prefer my IIPAs to have a more pronounced hop profile.

A: Poured a nice burnt orange color with good carbonation leaving a nice white cap

S: Holy grapefruit, oprange peel and pine needles

T: Immediate warmth and bitterness with a blast of big grapefruit, orange peel with a balance of pine resin and light trpocial fruit. Finish is tangy, bitter and bitter again. A mix of grapefruit acidic bitterness and hop bite sitting on a caramel malt backbone and hints of bread

M: Big body, lots of flavor, low carbonation leaving a rather heavy IIPA

O: Pretty good but the grapefruit and orange peel notes were very much on your face, a little to much.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber color capped by a couple of inches of foam; plenty of lacing dots stay behind

Smell: Resinous and dank, with caramel tones underneath

Taste: A firm caramel tone builds from the outset, but the bitterness of the hops quickly makes a challenge, building relentlessly through the middle and beyond; just a hint of pine, perhaps, but these hops are primarily about bitterness; tobacco tones join in the finish'

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: If you like an aggressively bitter DIPA above all else, this is a pleaser; I prefer a bit more citrus

Thanks, mabermud, for the opportunity

I had this on-tap at the brewery, 5 oz sample.

A: Copper-bronze, white head, nice lace.

S: Malty caramel, with a huge hit of Northwest hop (floral and citrous) odours.

T: Hop flavour is over-the-top. Too much citrous flavour. A little bready malt and caramel in the background. Some alcohol flavour in the aftertaste. Good bitterness, but too much Northwest hop flavour... it just overpowers the brew. If they had it in the bottle, I'd lay one down for a year.

M: Moderate body and carbonation. Slightly oily, with a slightly dry aftertaste.

D: The citrous hop flavour is in your face, but it's still fairly drinkable.

A: Mostly clear orange in color (becomes cloudy in later pours due to sedimentation being dislodged). Forms a respectably half inch of light tan colored head that reduces to a thick ring and some surface coating. Some light lacing.

S: Lots of citrus. Orange and grapefruit with a good dose of alcohol. Some caramel malt, but it is in the background.

T: Starts off with a mild orange juice sweetness before turning rather alcoholic with notes of citrus hops, orange, and grapefruit with pine to a lesser extent. A bit of pine resin bitterness on the finish.

M: Medium bodied with appropriate carbonation. Moderate bitterness with a mix of soapiness and alcoholic heat.

O: This beer has a lot of potential - there are aspects of it that I like a lot, but the alcohol is too forward for the chosen hops and soapy mouthfeel is a bit distracting. Still a good brew, though.

Appearance. Pours bright orange-amber withj almost a finger of off white head that leaves some sexy lacing.

Smell. Sweet caramel malt, dank skunk nugs, oranges, pineapple and grapefruit.

Taste. Sweet oranges, pineapple, grapefruit and plenty of caramel malts.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body, medium-low carbonation. A little sticky.

Overall. Very nicely balanced big west coast ipa. Yum!
