Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label has a short description of the beer but there is no abv listed.

Appearance: The body has a very cloudy look with an orange amber color and a tall off white head. It’s head holds on well and makes some nice lacing on the glass.

Smell: The aroma has a big pine like hops punch with a touch of orange rind citrus and deep malty sweetness.

Taste / Palate: Right up front there is a solid piney resin like hop presence with a good solid malty backbone. Deep bready maltiness adds some sweetness that mixes with some tropical fruity hops notes in the finish. The palate feels smooth and full with good carbonation.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #84 (Jan 2014):

This isn’t your usual IPA—while it has an English flare, the hopping crosses over with some American characteristics. Easily quells our desire for hops even if it is not as clean as one would want, and the lingering hop flavors seem scattered.

STYLE: English IPA
ABV: 6.4%
AVAILABILITY: Year-round

LOOK: Slightly hazed-out pale amber, tiny-bubbled lacing

SMELL: Big juicy hoppiness, tangerine zest, crackers, faint evergreen, floral, taffy, hint of alcohol

TASTE: Hop forward, peppery, herbal, earthy, light citrus rind, slightly dank bitterness, rustic maltiness, semi-clean, piney, pears, grainy; slightly rough, hoppy finish

12oz bottle to the Ommegang BPA glass. No date or batch number indicated.

A: Pours with a solid 2 1/2 finger high head, off-white with a yellow tint. The texture is foamy, mediumly compacted, and the staying power is great. The body is medium-light orange. Slightly hazy. More than adequate lacing sticks to the glass in sea foam form.

S: Citrus and pine on the hop front with a gentle toast to the plain malt character. An odd, lightly phenolic, melting plastic-like aroma is in the background - not too obtrusive - but definitely noticeable.

T: A small improvement from the nose. Firm bitterness with adequate malt sweetness which is enhanced when a caramelly dimension begins to creep onto the palate.

M: Rather gentle mouthfeel, with passive bubbles at first, that kind of tighten up for a finer effervescence from the middle to the end. Medium body.

O: Not a bad IPA really. Easy to drink, decent flavor, the mouthfeel is good. A better brew than the first few reviews let on.

Small head w/very little lace...small bubbles around the edge. Very hazy, and amber looking. I got a lot of citrus, mostly grapefruit at first smell. A lot of citrus flavor upfront and a earthy hop back end...a little flat. Good beer but not a great beer IMO.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle to a FBBC pint glass.

Pours a clear copper orange with a frothy 2 finger head, decent retention and lace. Lemony citrus mixed with a nutty malt aroma, floral hops meld with a sweet caramel buttery smell. Nice subtle floral hops grace the tongue, hints of citrus, lemon, slight grapefruit, hints of peaches as well, leaves the mouth a nice bitter note. Light on the mouthfeel and body, decent medium carbonation, sweet and bitter. Overall; Buffalo IPA is an easy to drink IPA with a good hop-malt balance, floral hops fill the mouth while a nice citrus bite cleans up.
