It’s been a long day of brewerying with the talls and special guest star Big Dog; running around Buffalo like we own the place. Jeeeeeeesus, how are we not hotelbound by now? Oh, another brewery, sure. I mean, well, what I mean is, ‘fuck’ (although I feel like I can always take in another). 5th brewery’s the charm, I guess…

It’s a large industrial space across the street from a suspicious lot empty; the bodies buried, what? Concrete slab block floors, a high high high cushioned rafter ceiling with I beams, large drop lamps, duct work holding strung lighting back and forth across the room, & an Adirondack chair plane suspended. White walls with uprights to the side and front over panel lowers with a bar counter ledge. Logo flaggings, a couple of absolutely boss Don Younger & Bert Grant RIP pics with write ups (Refuckingspect!), event posters, Buffalo scenes, brewery pics, and the Reinheitsgebot print that Phil would have absolutely hated (he always said he felt it stifled the brewer’s creativity, and we laughed at him eeeeeevery time he said it). A dozen tables mostly picnic and a few raised roundies and barrel tables, too. And outside seating penned, it does exist. A dozen picnic tables under a tent (No smoking!)

On the rear wall, a long ‘L’ shaped wood topped bar with a lip, panel base, and seating for exactly none during this Covid life adventure. Barback is a wall of vertical panel windows offering brew room views. Can coolers behind the bar, cupboard space below. Tap list done on slat boards at the end of the bar (Beer & ABV; and sometimes a slight style descriptor, hops used indicator, or goblet sizing asterisk). 10 tap logo handle panel just below alongside a pricing board. Swag corner and beer to go cooler.

10 taps (Larkin Lager, Helles, 4.8%; Stocking Hill Ale, Ginger Wheat, 5.5%; Aviator Red, Irish Style Red Ale, 5.4%; 716 IPA, 6.4%; Thundersnow IPA, 6%; Buffalo Kolsch, Golden Ale, 5.6%; Brindle, English Porter, 5.4%; DDH All American City IPA, Hazy IPA, 6.5%; Fluffy Puppy, NE IPA, 7.5%; HERC 2020, C-130 Barleywine, 9.8%), + 2 bottles (Rusty Chain, Vienna Lager, 5.2%; Low Gear, Session IPA, 4.2%), and a single can (Double Juicy, DIPA, 7.9%). The 716 IPA was a very nice IPA, as was the Thundersnow IPA. And the Brindle, English Porter was a delight. They doled us out samples of a 5 year aged barleywine, which was kick ass, and thank you!

Snacked (Covid food) with a pair of shorty Pringles cans. We’ve gotten good tunes played on us and I am pleased. Chill house, good beers. We probably should have come here earlier.

Massive warehouse building on south side of town. Lots of locals. Long L-shaped bar seats about 16, with a few communal tables and a covered patio outside with a bunch of picnic tables. 10 beers on tap, I had the All American City IPA, solid. Friendly service. Just snacks.

I actually know some people with Flying Bison. They're good and nice people, but the brewery's offerings have never impressed me. In fact, they've never made a beer I'd like to order ever again. The new brewery is nice and so are the people there, but only go if you're a fan of the big breweries. If you drink Blue Light or Budweiser and are just moving on to better beer, Flying Bison is a small step forward.

Great up and coming brewery in buffalo. Standouts were the IPA, red's haven, and down by the river. Still waiting for true greatness (e.g., an explosive, juicy, west coast IPA, or dark, smooth RIS), but expect them to get there....seriously though, the taproom could use some music!

Great building with a big wide open tasting room & lots of free parking. Events (trivia, food trucks, human foosball, bands etc.) seem to be happening every day. Only a couple blocks from the Buffalos booming canal side & in the heart of the Larkin District. The guy who has the lead in the tasting room in friendly & knowledgeable after being the manager for the Village Beer Merchant stores for almost a decade. Must stop here kind of place. Beer is very good. The new IPA & Down By The River being the stars of the show.
