Pours a golden amber color. Leaves a small head that disappears quickly. Good wisp of foam remains on top of the glass. Minor lacing is seen on the sides. Not as murky as you would expect for a wheat beer.

Smell is malty and bready.Seems grassy with some sour aspects as well. Almost like cranberries.
Taste is nice and smooth malt-reminds me much more of a marzen style than a hefe-weisee. Since this seems to cross the style boundaries, I will just consider it for general enjoyment and it does seem to satisfy quite well. Im glad I bought it and would definitely buy again. Exceptional drinkability.

Pours a very cloudy dull orangish brown with a respectably fluffy offwhite head that dissipates before too long. Smell is a very weak for a weizen, but nice nonetheless: banana bread/banana pudding. Very nice mouthfeel immediately on the palate, creamy and full with substantial (although much less than a typical weizen) carbonation. Initially i pick up the typical banana, yet not so much of the clove, but the bready malts in this case seem to overshadow the yeast somewhat. Caramel overtones fading through a slightly spicy finish. Low bitterness, with typical wheaty crispness/acidity.

Not bad, but not nearly as good as i was hoping. Definitely drinkable though.

Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into hotel glasses. Appearance is pretty neutral, clear golden color without much head.

The smell is slightly sour for the style, almost Belgian-like. Not as clovy or banana-y as I'd prefer in a hefe-wiezen, but this is an Oktoberfest Weizen so who knows what the hell the style is meant to be...

Easy enough to drink, but the flavor is nowhere near what I like in a hefewiezen. So mediocre scores across the board.

Poured from a 11.2 oz bottle to a weissen bier glass. Nice thick bone white head. Liquid is dark rich gold.

Smell is faint, mostly yeast, little malt and notes of apricot, peach and spice. Much more robust after warming, add pear and mango.

Taste is better then ave. But not a winner. Light yeast, slightly caramelized malt, spice and light sweet fruit. They must have given this the Oktoberfest name because of the darker color and deeper roasted malt. The flavor intensifies as it warms. Wait for it it will come. More fruit and richer malt. Hops are very subdued, almost unaccounted for.

Mouthfeel is nice, rich & crisp, sticky and lasting. Very nice carbonation.

Drinkability could be better. This one needs a little more work to make my A list. The better when warmer gig hurts the drinkability score. MK

Bright orange oak. Sticky, vanilla, maple and toffee aromas, with hints of banana, which are barely achieved by the swirling of the glass. Flavor is very thin and bland, initially bubbly, then creamy. Not all that flavorful, but it possesses light hints of toffee, along with a light floral hop kick on the finish.

Poured from a bottle. Could not decide whether this was a deep gold or an orange-copper color. Appeared to flip-flop between both. Not has cloudy as I expected it to be. Very frothy, long-lasting head with good carbonation and lacing. Smell was mostly bananas and cloves. Taste was mostly bananas and cloves and very refreshing. Had a bit more body to it than I expected. A smooth, solid beer that is worth a few bucks.

This is a pretty sweet Oktoberfest brew which would be perfect to enjoy in 1 liter stein in Munich. Unfortunatly it's a little weak to drink on its own, or as part of a review session. The wheat is very apparent like other Erdingers, and the sweetness is really enjoyable. But there is something that just seems to be lacking from this brew, and I cant exactally put my finger on it.

Appearance: Pours a medium amber cloudy color (a couple of shades darker than a typical hefe) with the expected frothy head that leaves squiggles of lacing

Smell: A combination of hefe smells (bananas, cloves and yeast) and märzen smells (caramel malt)

Taste: Starts with a malty flavor that is quickly followed, after the swallow, by the hefe flavors of bananas and cloves; then, the malty flavor re-asserts itself only to be followed, again by the crisp lemony finish of the hefe

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with lots of carbonation - a bit fuller bodied than a hefe

Drinkability: Very intriguing brew and a nice effort by Erdinger to experiment with something new; it is rare to see the German brewers break from a traditional mold and do something creative so kudos are well-deserved for this brew

Autumnal, brown-tinted golden-orange below a fat rise of marshmallow foam.
The nose has elements of apple sauce, wheat bread, and pecans, but seems a bit diffuse on the whole.
Up front in the mouth, there is a quick wheatiness that ebbs just as quick towards the more traditional Munich-y traits of toasted nut, bagel, and caramelized raisin. A phenolic sense of vanilla arises midway and lingers into the close, shiftly slightly towards banana pudding. On the whole, however, the weizen yeast is not a dominating force here. Hopping is modest with steely herbs and grasses.
A fairly brawny body is given some levity by the increased carbonation, forming an impression of carbonated cream.
This is plenty drinkable and likeable on nearly all accounts. It's not an explosive mash-up of flavors, but basically a fairly mild (but well-made) festbier with a subtle weiss infusion.

The beer poured into the glass slightly hazy with a low white head which fell quickly but laced the glass.

The aroma was malty with a nutty caramel malt aroma of Munich or Vienna. The aroma also contained a slight spicy hop presence. Also present was just the lightest amount of smoke and banana.

The flavor was crisp with a light banana and clove flavor that were at low levels. The flavor contained a bit of caramel and a low wheat flavor. Also present was a light spice character.

The finish was dry with a crisp and light fruity ester that lasts of banana. The body was medium and the carbonation fairly high. Kinda boring, but easily drinkable.

11.2 ounce bottle, 5.7% ABV on label.

I wonder if this is different than the normal Erdinger Weizen. I wasn't impressed with the weizens from this brewery, so I thought "Hrmmm...3 times is a charm". This one pours out to a cloudy light amber, forming a slowly rising and peaking off white soapy head of large bubbles...the kind of head that grows out of the glass. Retention is very good and lacing is good. Carbonation is semi-brisk, contributing to the ever-growing head and spiral streamers. The aroma is certainly not very "weizen", just kinda "beer" with some green apples thrown in. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean. The taste is of light green apples, some distant non-descript pale wheat malt cracker sweetness, and a touch of yeast. Hops are minimal. No phenols or esters typical for the style. Mild bitterness, clean lightly dry finish. No perceptable off-flavors, but also no perceptable "on" flavors either.

Not that this is a bad beer, but for the style, it's dull and boring...not even remotely close to style. Pass on this one. 3 strokes, you're out Erdinger.

Erdinger Weissbrau Oktoberfest Weizen is an unusual take on the Fest style. It’s a Weizen beer, meaning it’s a wheat beer rather than the traditional all-malt Märzen. The carbonation of this one is much more like that of a Hefeweizen, the more common German style of wheat beer, with a thick foamy white head. Both the aroma and taste are both sweet and spicy, and overall this one is much sweeter than any of the Fest beers I've tried. Definitely a different direction and interesting to taste… a hybrid of a Weiss beer and a Märzen that has some of the better qualities of both.

Pours a deep orange with a huge, fluffy white head that retains well. Aroma has big toasted bread notes, as well as a yeasty citrusy character (classic wiezen) and some light caramel notes. The flavor is of toasted bread, lemon rind, crackers, caramel and some yeasty flavors. This is really a hefe with the body, mouthfeel and malt profile of an oktoberfest...not really a great combination. The mouthfeel is full and chewy which doesnt compliment the style well and drinkability is descent at best. An ok hefe, not something to seek out, especially if you want a real oktoberfest.

After drinking again for the first time in a few years, I feel that further commenting is necessary. Along with my initial views below, the beer seems to steer away from the weissbier notions and prefer the malty lagered notes instead. Lightly estery and ultimately malty throughout, this beer balances but always favors the malts. A nice Oktoberfest that uses the wheat for body, texture, and head retention. The wheat flavors are modest and take a backk seat to all things Oktoberfest. Don't let the wheat distract you, this is a true Oktoberfest with a slight wheat flair in taste, body, and appearance.

Although nothing extremely special, it's a clean and well brewed beer. The aromas show a heavy bready, moderately malty, and lightly caramel tones. The wheat doesn't add much esters, fruitiness, or spiciness. A medium copper color with a slight wheat haze. Wheat adds to the head retention and lacing. Flavors are typical bready, toasty, malty, and caramelly for an Oktoberfest, but the wheat adds a cereal-like quality and perhaps accentuates the grain flavors a bit too much. Hops are only for balance and go greatly unnoticed. The texture is smooth and creamy because of the wheat addition, but also brings out a light grain 'bite'. Finishes mildly sweet, grainy; yet clean and refreshing. Overall, an average beer. Thanks Clvand0 for sharing.

Pours a light hazy golden color with a light head that falls to a complete coat over top. Nose is not giving me a lot of hefe character. Slight lemon with a touch of wheat and a hint of clove. Flavor is pretty bland. Wheat is the predominant flavor. No real hefe character here. It really is very bland overall. Feel is moderate, not creamy, with a moderate to moderate-high carbonation. I'm really less than impressed with it. There is nothing in the flavor and the nose that draws me in. I'd pass on this one in the future.

The beer pours a dark gold color with a towering white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is average. It has a dry, yet slightly fruity aroma that boasts of pale, light crystal, and wheat malts along with Bavarian yeast. It's earthy and dry with a bit of tartness. The taste is decent. It has a dry, malty flavor that boasts of crystal malts and weizen yeast. It goes down smooth, but finishes dry and earthy with a weizen aftertaste. The mouthfeel is decent also. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a pretty good brew, but it's not one I'd buy again. I like the regular weizens and the dunkels, but the Octoberfest ones I could do without.

Pours with an off yellow body, slight orange hues. Thick white voluptuous head, good retention

Smell, some slight banana, a pretty noticable whack of cloves. Some slight yeast too

Taste, smooth and a tad alcoholic. Little bit of creaminess, some esters but very slight

A solid wheat, more flavour than their standard hefe

This brew pours out a copper color with a huge bubbly white head.
Its aroma is malty sweet and a bit fruity.
The flavor starts out a bit fruity / yeasty then moves into a malty sweetness and toastiness as expected in a fest beer.
Light bodied and highly carbonated.

Pours a cider orange with a mid size tan head.

There are furit and malt notes in the nose that are faint but very inviting.

The taste lightly malty with a touch of apple and banana. I wish this had a little more substance to it.

This is a nice beer in the mouth. The carbonation sucessfully bites you back as you drink. There is also a slightly hoppy finish that leaves me wanting more.

While the aroma and flavor lack the substance I would like, this is a nice beer that is very easy to drink and enjoy.

Sampled from a full Oktoberfest mug at Alisal cellars in Solvang California.

This beer is a cloudy peach color, but no where as cloudy as a traditional Hefe.

Smell is fruity and very bready. The expected banana and cloves are missing but this does smell good.

Taste is mostly bread with fruity flavors from the yeast. This has a nice malt after taste. Mild flavor of banana shows up about half way through the glass.

Mouthfeel is quite thick and delivers well on the beer is "Liquid Bread" concept.

Super drinkable Oktoberfest beer here. Tasty and mild, this would not cover up the taste of any food. An excellent beer for a rustic lunch or dinner of beer, fresh baked bread and cheese. One mug of this was a meal all by itself.

I am pleasantly surprised with this bier. It adhears well to the standards of a Weissbier but has adopted the characteristics of a nice Fest bier as well.

Crisp and zesty with a nice malt balance. A little low on any banana/clove aroma. Nicely drinkable however.

A good bier to bridge the gap between the Wheat heavy summer and the Malt heavy winter seasons.

Worth a try.

11.2 oz. bottle, best before 4/2006 - served chilled in a tulip. Pours a chestnut/orange with a 2 inch head of medium-sized bubbles that reduces to a thin blanket. The beer is opaque after the yeast and the head leaves no lace. Smells of dark fruits, toastiness, sugary sweetness, banana, and perhaps bubblegum, but overall the aroma is a bit weak. Caramel, toasty malts, and dark fuits are the first to show up on the palate - most of the rest is hiding behind the massive carbonation. The flavors that are hiding are bananas, some cloves, and band-aids. It has a medium body that is too tingly even after 20 minutes. I didn't think I served it as cold as I did, but it's overpowering the flavors. Overall, I'll give it points for originality - I really like the toastiness - and I bet I'd give it a higher score if it were at a higher temperature.

Pours a cloudy and hazy light orange. Sudsy and bubbly white head on top.

Aroma of cloves, lemons, wheat and malt.

Liquid apple sauce flavors right up front. Fruity and malty all together with a wheat/clove bounce on the tongue. Prickly and lightly carbonated on the palate.

Interesting brew, I like the fact that it's something new for me try and rings in at a respectable 5.7% ABV.

A Hefe-toberfest.:^)
Pours a nice straw gold that was very clear until I poured in the last ounce. Then it clouded up.

The smell was a faintly sweet aroma which I liked.

The taste was an interesting cross between the sweetness of the malt and the clove flavour that Hefe's bring to the table and I thought the balance was well done. This is a very drinkable beer to me and I'm kind of sad that I only bought the one bottle.(in a mixed 6-pack)
