Appearance - Nice size foamy head, rushing carbonation after the pour, perhaps just a touch more transparent than other hefeweizen. Looks lively.

Smell - Not just the banana type fruitiness of most authentic hefes, but also a citrus element in there too. Almost a wit like fruity character minus the spice. I like the smell, but I wish it was stronger. The smell is about medium-weak in strength.

Taste - Wheaty. Slight alcohol in the finish. Light sweetness up front thats not as fruity as the smell suggests. Its missing the trademark hefewezen flavors. I like wheat malt but I don't like the grainy way it is presented in this beer.

Mouthfeel - This one is actually pretty smooth and not as prickly as one would think by looking at it. Its light overall but not too thin considering the style.

Drinkability - Its a well presented, but mediocre hefeweizen. I don't think I'd drink a second if I had one.

Appearance: Light weize colour with smaller head.

Smell: Malt with citrus tone, alcohol. Hidden fruits.

Taste: Too weak for a weize in my opinion. Wheat, bananas, alcohol.

Mounthfeel: Strong on carbonation, very light body.

Drinkability: Nice summer weize, could drink few of them easily.

Got a free sample from my Glazer rep.

Appearance: Good. Decent head. Head retention not great but not bad. Has the glowing cloudy gold color of a solid Hefeweizzen.
Smell: Good. Ripe fruit with touch of clove.
Taste: Crisp. Refreshing. Some clove. Some citrus. Some sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Pleasant. A bit watery.
Drinkability: God session beer.

Overall impression: Decent beer. Solid but unspectacular. Still, why should I put this on my shelf when I already carry the Paulaner, Franziskaner, Schneider, and Hitachino.

Overall it's a pretty good brew. It's not quite as impressive to me as other Hefes, though.

The appearance is good... nice and cloudy like it should be. There is a decent amount of head and lacing on the glass. The smell is good, but not "aromatic". The taste is also good. It has a nice flavor, but it just doesn't quite have the fullness of flavor that other hefes offer. The mouthfeel is nice... relatively smooth.

The drinkability is pretty high. It's good enough to drink most of the night...and it's not filling.

Overall, it's worth a shot...it could be on of your favs.

A- Looks pretty damn good. Pours a full, golden colour with very noticeable yeast sediment. The head is magnificent and retains exceptionally well while leaving decent lacing.

S- I have to admit, I was expecting a fair bit more here. There is a very light aroma of yeast and slight hops. Quite disappointing as I was expecting much more.

T- Straight up I'll say the taste is way too minimal. I can only really detect yeast, grain and marginal malts. All of these are subdued. On the positive side, I'll say that it's not actually offensive but there is just not enough going on.

M- Maybe a little thin. Still, a nice creamy texture with some decent carbonation.

O- Quite an underwhelming experience, if truth be told. This simply doesn't hold up when compared to the greats of this style. Still, it wasn't terrible but it needs some serious re-invigorating when it comes to the palate.

Drank on tap in Berlin and took a few bottled ones home. Both were great, even though I'd still prefer the on-tap one (perhaps it's because of the great memories). All-round great Weissbier.

Pours a very hazy orangish color with a full thick head. Flavor is fruity, kind of citrusy, and a touch of grain character involved as well. Not as spicey as many German Wheat Beers, but is decent nonetheless. The mouthfeel is a bit lively and the body is very smooth. Finishes rather dry and grainy.

This beer is very drinkable, but didn't have any flavors that really jumped out at me. Not a bad hefe, but there are a few others I would rather have on a nice summer day. It has a wheaty taste with a decent amount of carbonation, just not as much flavor as I would like.

Pours frothy, generous head on top of tangerine tined straw body. Head settles a bit but maintains a nice even thick lace. Smells grainy, wheat, pineapple, citrus and banana. Tastes spicier than others of the style: pineapple and citrus at first, then the wheat, then fades to banana and last are the hops. Carbonation was really nice.. abundant, but not too sharp.. almost creamy. A pretty good session beer.

Hazy Straw color with 'ok' starting head, dropped after a few minutes.

No outstanding smells in this hefe.

Ok taste, no flavors really pop out.

Good mouthfeel, bit of a sting from carbonation, thin and smooth

easy drink, definitely remains in the beer repertoire come summer time.

Lemon water is my favorite beverage, and this beer approximates albetit with Wheat beer chemistry. Smooth, mild bready nose, more lemon sour than bananaorama, light and creamy froth. Bottle fermentation down to a sweet science. Let the grouches grumble, this beer is a masterpiece.

Pours a very nice clear yellow and goes nice and cloudy when the last bit of yeast is added. Very nice white fluffy head. Good carbonation and the foam on the beer will stay if you swirl it a bit during your experience. Tastes very light for a hefeweizen, most others have lots of fruit and yeast flavour yet i find this is just light yeast and very very light fruit. and tastes very light in comparison to others in general. drinkability is great and the aftertaste is pretty ok nothing too shabby. i drank this straight out of the bottle once swirling it with each sip to activate the yeast a bit and found it better that the standard pouring out into a weizen glass. now i know this kinda breaks the routing and ritual of drinking hefeweizen but out of the bottle i find it has a lot more carbonation and it prickles in your mouth. its actually quite interesting! give it a shot if you like to try new things.

For a time this was my favorite hefe, maybe even my favorite brew. I still love it but I appreciate some smaller craft hefes. This flavor lies in between Paulaner and Franziskaner. I think the Franziskaner is a little strong for most people, and this Erdinger comes in just about perfect. This is a perfect brew to sip on a hot day after working in the yard. Much tougher to find a 6 pack of this than Paulaner or Franziskaner. Sometimes i'm forced to go to Bristol Farms and get a 22 oz bottle, but usually I get it at the yardhouse in long beach on tap. I can't say anything negative about this brew. Fantastic, I can't wait to visit the Erdinger brewery.

1 pint, .9 oz bottle, good before 11/2008

poured into a pint glass, hazy hazy pale gold... jesus! the bubbles! the bubbles! fast and furious, got about 3 inches of head (and yes i poured it right), whipped cream dollop on top.. this looks fake

smell wheat, lemon, fruity more than spicy, mellow

taste slightly astringent, malty banana and sweet, there is some hiding cloves, sourness

crispy dry bite, seltzer water, i wish it would chill out just a bit i feel under attack

not terrible but average, . i would drink this if i ran out of gas and was stuck at a roadside feed stand while eating mass amounts of bratwurst and sauerkraut with a balding german man while he tells me about his extra marital affair with the barmaiden

drank this one in Maastricht while visiting, wasn't really that impressed. When very very cool, refreshing, but didn't really taste a lot to be honest, few citrus... drink this really cool and fast. Would not drink this again, there is better stuff out there in the same category

A - Pours cloudy saffron color. Big white head that dissipates a little too quickly.

S - Smells a bit lemony, citrusy.

T - Lemony, hint of bananas, pleasant tartness, and a flavor I can only describe as mildly like tobacco (not in a bad way, just the closet comparison I can think of).

M - Little bit watery due to rapid loss of carbonation.

D - Not bad, decent session beer. Probably won't buy it again but definitely wouldn't turn it down.

A- Very golden yellow in colour with a bit of brown. Fairly cloudy; foamy head that lingered for a significant amount of time.

S- Heavy malt smell with hints of vanilla, toffee, and some dried fruits (banana chips, apples).

T- Very sweet in taste, The toffee flavour comes through fairly well along with the heavy malts. The caramel doesn't come through very much but the dried fruit flavour comes through fairly well at the finish.

D- First time ever hearing of this beer and it's not very bad at all. Not the best but will drink again.

Poured out a cloudy golden-orange into my Schneider Weisse glass. Huge, billowing head that eventually receded to a thin foam.

Smell and taste can't quite keep up with the wonderful appearance of the beer. The nose is soft. It hits all the right notes, but they're so blended together that they mush into each other, creating an underwhelming aroma. On the palate, the citrus notes are there, but subdued, and it's just a bit too harsh on the back end of the taste. It's definitely good, but it's not great.

The mouthfeel is also off -- thin and wispy, with all the carbonation bubbling up in the beginning, producing that huge billowing head, and then fading out fast, even though I poured it slow down the side of the glass. It's quaff-able, though, and I could drink a ton of it.

Erdinger Hefe-weizen pours with a large white head that collapses reasonably quickly. It's straw yellow color and hazy — unless you swirl the bottle at the end and pour out the yeast from the bottom of the bottle, then it's fairly murky. If you're a wheat beer fan, the first thing you'll notice is the lack of the classic wheat beer "nose" — the banana/clove/bubblegum aroma found in most German wheat beers.
It has a crisp wheat-beer flavor with medium body and a relatively high bitterness as wheat beers go (although certainly not as hoppy as American pale ales or IPAs). Very drinkable. If you add the yeast, you get a little more of the "liquid bread" character that the best wheat beers show and the hops are masked a bit.
What you rate this beer as would depend highly on how you rate beers. If you rate this beer expecting it have lots of wheat beer character, it would score low. (To be honest, if it didn't say hefe-weizen on the label, I wouldn't even have pegged it as one. It smells almost like a lager and tastes more like a Belgian ale to me.) If you you rate it simply as a beer that "is what it is," it's a fairly decent, quaffable brew.

Always a fan of Hefe-Weizens, I figured I'd start drinking more good German examples before heading to Germany this fall. So this is my first;

A - Poured into a weizen glass with a light golden color and about an inch of fluffy head that wasn't too quick to dissipate, but left very little lacing. As expected, the body was pretty cloudy and full of that beautiful bubbling that makes hefeweizens so interesting.

S - Not overly strong, much to my disappointment, but still carried the citrusy, lemony zest of your typical hefe-weizens with a hint of sweetness from the malts and perhaps some yeastiness.

T - Damn fine. The lemon and citrus tastes are always the first thing you notice, with hints of something banana-like, maybe some clove. A nice wheaty maltiness with a certain amount of yeasty character, I think. Aftertaste brings in the minimal hop profile and more citrusy bitterness. very enjoyable.

M - Bubbly carbonated feel, kinda light-to-medium body. Nice.

D - I love hefe-weizens and this is a pretty good example of one so I'd definitely drink this without a second thought. Actually I probably wouldn't even give it a first thought. Anyways, it's tasty and drinkable, so give it a try.

There is some claim as to it being the best selling Hefeweizen on the bottle, but this was certainly not the best tasting wheat beer. The color and appearance were typical, and the aroma was decent, but the taste was disappointing. It had a watered down taste and feel, very weak. Slight lemon zing. There are far superior versions out there to enjoy. I would pass on this beer.

Serving Type: 500ml Bottle

Appearance: Honey coloured hazy body with a fluffy white head.

Smell: Slight wheat nose and thats about it

Flavour: initial light, sweet malty flavour with quite a harsh mouthfeel. Malty and zesty aftertatse which lingers.

Overall: A very average wheat beer - not outstanding within its style but still a very drinkable brew.

This is a fantastic beer. Better than the standard wheat beer from germany, this beer really does the trick. it is very creamy, with the banana flavors of typical wheat beers from the region, but this one really stands out. it has a great head on it and is extremely drinkable. it is darker than most wheat beers, but not nearly a dark wheat. just a mild, orange color, that transforms itself into the brews. fantastic overall.

After recently having some Dancing Man I realized I like this style. Wanted some more but couldn't handle the alcohol content, so I tried this instead.

Appearance: Light, even for the style.
Smell: Something foul in there, nothing fruity.
Taste: Tastes tinny as though it came from a can. Really nothing to identify it with the style other than the slight cloudiness.
Not a horrible beer, but why pay more for a beer that delivers so much less than others in the style. Bottles were new to my beer store too, with an expiration date of June 2012.

I poured this pale, straw-coloured beer in a 500 ml Erdinger glass. It was cloudy with a sizable, thick head which I found very visually appealing. As expected, the accompanying effervescence was brisk and robust. I detected the aroma of sweet malt, grass, citrus and cloves. It tasted of clove and leaves while the wheat left a lingering dry, tart aftertaste. The mouthfeel was medium and very lively. It may not be the best wheat beer that I've tasted but certainly a pleasant one for a hot summer afternoon.
