Odd, it actually says that this is brewed by Real Ale on the bottle, but this beer isn't under their list. Anyway, let's give it a formal review:

Appearance: Pours a pretty cloudy yellow golden color with a small 1/8" head of small active bubbles that was only around for about 20 seconds after the pour. It doesn't look like there are too many bubbles rising after the initial head.

Aroma: I got a good bit of hops in the aroma giving grassy notes in particular. They are getting more citrusy as the beer sits for a bit, and the malt is present and a little grainy and is contributing some subtle toasty notes and some light caramel sweetness. The malt is pretty subtle in this beer.

Taste: The flavor is also favoring the hops with some malty notes. The yeast is making a bigger appearance in the flavor than in the aroma giving a little bit of bread dough. The beer is pretty light bodied overall and the carbonation is present in the mouthfeel, though it is a bit low. The finish is tipped mildly toward the hops, but it doesn't end very dry or bitter, so they are playing pretty well with the water. The earthy properties of the hops are coming out a bit more as the beer warms and is starting to make the beer a little less pleasant to drink.

Opinion: This is a pretty decent beer. I am not a big fan of their hop-bill, but that is just personal preference. Overall the balance is pretty good, and it is a pretty well made beer without any fermentation flaws or anything. This is the last beer out of a 6-pack that I got, and I may come back to it someday...but will probably pick up a number of other beers first.

The name says Golden but the tap I got was towards brown.
No head off this pour. The aromas were subdued, grassy and sweet with a fleeting note of hops.

Taste had some malt and was refreshing.

An easy drinking brew if not especially interesting.

The bar staff along the Riverwalk couldn't tell me anything about the Brewer. I began to suspect contract brewing.

I really like this beer. Been drinking it since about '05. It's a consistent go to. Not sure about "lacing" or any of that stuff. Just a good drinkable beer with flavor. Two things I don't care for: (1) new packaging - I liked the gold and black, made it easy to find; (2) I think they tinkered with the recipe or the brewing process - tastes a little more yeasty and unfiltered than it used to.

The Alamo Golden Ale - Almost thought this was a shiner at first!

Appearance - This beer a bit darker than your usual brew but mostly yellow to brown

Smell - A nutty (peanut) scent that is almost a bit off from that. It was good but not enough there to fully satisfy

Taste - A Shiner (light) but with more of the peanut and barley flavors in there. I wish there was some more to this and more umph to it (technical word)

Mouthfeel - This is where this beer excels, the taste sticks with you for a good several minutes leaving a satisfied taste

Overall - an okay drinker

I don't know what I was expecting from this beer. I suppose I wanted it to be...better.

Anyway, it looked good out of the bottle. Poured into a pint glass the color was golden as advertised with a good head that laced nicely.

Smelled sweetness and some hops. Balanced.

Taste left some to be desired. The malts and hops were well balanced enough but the aftertaste was not terribly pleasant. There was a slight adjunct taste to this beer. Does not compare to other blonde ales I've had, even though it wasn't horrible.

A: Slighly hazy gold with a decent white head and some linger.

S: Heavy malt, some citrus and light hops.

T: Malt up front with a twist of rose, some light biscuit and a slightly hoppy finish.

M: Light body, decent carbonation.

Pretty good beer, worthwhile on a summer day. I enjoyed it, but I would rather try something new next time.

Had this on draft at the Buckhorn saloon in san antonio

Pours golden/bronze with with 1' of white head. Good lacing & above average head retention

S: Citrussy hops & malt sweetness & a little iron, plus grassy notes

T: Crisp lemony hops, malt sweetness & maybe some pear notes. Breadyness in the middle. Finishes crisp & hoppy (citrus & a little herbal hops)

MF: Medium bodied with efferevescent carbonation. Good balance

Drank really easy, suprised I didn't see it around more down by the riverwalk. Give this a chance!

4/1...pours clear gold see through, light white foam. Bright floral nose, sweet, fresh. Clean malty taste, light pils taste, small bitter to finish. Very nice.
