This Double is a dark Porter style specialty beer. Iwhat a great experience to tast something so different, yet so wonderful! It is a new sensory experience for everyone who enjoys something unusual, different and interesting. It has a bit of a nut and sweet tast. I highly recommend it.

500 ml bottle poured into a Salvator chalice. Ruby red color with quickly dissipating head. Root beer with medicinal overtones, finishing with a metallic taste. Overpowering sweetness, with high ABV.

Pours aa opaque brown-black with a half finger of tan head that quickly settles to a thin ring with little lacing. Sweet and roast malty nose. Taste follows nose. On the thin side, but very enjoyable.

Much too one dimensional in its sweetness.

Pours a dark but not very viscose almost black. Big fluffy head, recedes quickly on this and the nose is all dark fruit and roasted malt, reminds me of a domestic baltic porter, like Zywiec or Black Boss. Tastes awesome, wow. Really good. This is realtime and man is that a nice beer. Doesn't exude the 10.5% at all. Lovely malt sugar base, followed by barley character, sweet, rounded malt character. There's a lot of baltic porter here but none of the liquorice that is common in those beers. I expect it'll open even more as it gets warmer but wow, it's lovely. Great take on a rich doppelbock. Reminds me of the sort of american craft beer take on the style (at least, from what I've experienced from NE breweries).

I love the price point of this one as its a 10.5 percent beer for 3 bucks about but it is extremely sweet and not a great example of the actual style.

Very dark molasses brown mixed with garnet. After pouring head recedes quickly to a thin ring of foam. Smells of toasted grain, yeast, and carob. Just very slight coffee and treacle. Also something medicinal, cherry cough syrup perhaps. This is quite possibly the sweetest beer I've ever had. Sticky even. Good chewy texture, not much in the way of fizz. Alcohol is well obscured; it seems to be there in the smell more than the taste. Well, it's an interesting drink, and a steady diet of this would soon make a diabetic out of me. I won't be having it again anytime soon.

Sweet. Very sweet. Too sweet. The beer looked good, smelled good, felt good but the sweetness overshadowed anything I could have said about the flavor. At 10.5 abv I wish I could have tasted the alcohol.

Thin body of medium brown colour with ruby highlights. Nice fuzzy manila head that looks like it's going to stick around... but then doesn't. Not even a ring, just some large bubbles accumulating from the base of the glass.

Nose is sweet off the bat. There's certainly some roasty grains, and a faint whiff of alcohol lift. The sweet layer over the top is brown sugar and I almost get like an artificial grape kind of component even though it's not really there.

Oh boy that's sweet. Rich burnt caramel almost to the level of like a soda. Backed with more traditional grains and a little bit of cola-type spice. Actually... I'm currently cooking with tamarind, and that's very much a flavour that it reminds me of. Finishes with some light hops.

I guess dopplebocks are supposed to be pretty sweet, and I wouldn't go so far as to describe it as cloying (yes, I read the style description here, ha), but it's definitely sweet. It's funny, but I feel like if this flavour profile came from a newer American brewery for a barleywine or something, it would be right up folks' alley in the current zeitgeist, or maybe I'm just cynical about how sweet beer has gotten over the last couple of years.

Was I drinking the same stuff? Very unbalanced Ethanol notes some slight sour rasins and maybe a bit of dark prune juice. Very little sweetness and decent gain but damn I drank some Rinkuškiai Lithuania stuff that had more boozy balance. Pass if you can!
