Black, with a light brown medium head, quite creamy.
Very sweet smell, with toasted notes, toffee, cappuccino.
The taste is very sweet, too, and with a strong alcoholic note.
Quite heavy, and not really easy too drink.
In the aftertaste, even if not particularly balanced, some bitter roots and rhubarb notes.

This was my fourth Euro dark lager during my summer holiday in Slovakia. The previous three were, unfortunately, all a bit too sweet and relatively similar in taste. So lets see....This beer pours a very dark brown, almost black color with a fluffy, light-brown very creamy head that stayed for several minutes.

Smell: mainly sweet, some hints of caramel and yeast. Me and my friend noticed a kind of light dusty smell in the background which we didn't like, very similar to some vintage beers.

Taste: Mainly sweet caramel. This is uber-sweet, super-sweet, it almost burns away your teeth. In the very background of the sweetness, one can taste the alcohol and some roasted malts. No bitterness at all. The aftertaste is very similar to the initial taste. Boring

Mouthfeel: The beer is very thick, a bit like syrup, as also mentioned by other reviewers. I constantly have the urge to dilute this beer with water.... But on the other hand, the thickness is unique and it makes the beer very smooth. Medium-low carbonation.

Overall: Well....what to say. Personally I feel this beer is not recommendable, unless you like liquid sugar. Although I like sweet beers (e.g. Rochefort 10, St Bernardus abt) this one is way too sweet for my pellet and has no "taste-layers". No surprise in the aftertaste, nothing special. Will not drink this one again

A: Very nice dark leathery look. Head was a tan froth that dissipated into a small disk. Carbonation rolled throughout the drinking process which reminded me of a tar pit.

S: Wow that is a sweet smell! Notes of chocolate, burnt grains, and blackstrap molasses.

T: I know this style lends itself to sweeter offerings, but this is a bit much. This brew has a syrup-like quality that is overwhelmingly sweet.

M: The amount of carbonation that is visible is not nearly enough to break the syrup up. The sweetness and alcohol warmth will stick with you until you shave your tongue.

D: thank you. Even if the sweetness were ratcheted down a few hundered notches, this beer is too viscous for me to want another. I need at least a little hop bite.

A: Dark brown with a little amber tinge, too dark to see through. No apparent carbonation, and 2 fingers of rusty beige head.

S: Coke, crème brulee. Red grapes, Dymatap cough syrup. Sweet and syrupy with a little hint of alcohol fumes.

T: Cough syrup, sweet and thick, grapes, alcohol burn in the throat. Generally alcohol hidden in the mouth, its just so sweet and syrupy though, it reminds me of a quad, even Kasteel Donker in body and sweetness. Some cocoa, chocolate notes.

M: Thick and syrupy, little carbonation, coats the tongue with a slight oil.

O: Interesting brew, in my opinion borders with a Belgian quad. Got and drank in Chiang Mai, March 6th, 2015.

I've Had this at least twice and have re-rated based on 10/13/16 tasting.
Dark and minimal lace, I also find this undistinguished in the nose.
But its sweetness comes through in the taste and, this, I actually like more than a few of the other reviews who want more bitterness from either hops or tasted malts. While the alcohol surprises me, it is warming... a job of this style of porter.
Reviewed in the "1001 list, this arguably should not be on the list because it does not distinguish itself enough and merely appeals to a narrow range of sweet people like me... and even I may not finish it for fear of getting too sweet.

This beer is quite a departure from other Czech Beers. Actually, I think it's quite unique in comparison to other beers throughout the world. It's extremely sweet. Seriously. It's like sipping syrup through a tiny straw. It's also highly alcoholic at about 10.5% and this taste is sometimes quite pronounced throughout. I mentioned syrup, and while the double's mouthfeel is thick, it is not quite so sticky until it hits your throat. Not a bad brew but not something that I prefer to drink frequently.

Dark slightly transparent brown with a light tan head that retains a thin rim around the outside. Nose contains notes of raison, anise, and alcohol. Beer tastes sweet, raisony, roasted malts, and molasses. Lingering licorice and sweetness on the lips. Alcohol burn deep in the chest. Big body, chewy, syrupy coating on the top of the mouth. This is a big beer, so not extremely drinkable, but definitely worth trying as it is quite a departure from most every Czech beer I have drank.

A: The beer is clear dark amber in color and poured with a two finger high beige head.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of alcohol and malts in the nose.
T: The taste is rather malty and has a light amount of sweetness.
M: It feels full-bodied on the palate and has a light amount of carbonation. There is a slight amount of warming from the alcohol.
O: This is a beer that definitely needs to be sipped.

OK this is the bad boy of the mixed 6 pack box. Dark and brown with a slight tan head this beer smells like booze soaked malt( not in a bad way _. The beer has a boozy sweetness that cuts down the drinkability but all in all this is reasonable for the strength and the style. Not the best for the brewer but ok in total.
