Bottle. Almost black. Ever decreasing dark tan head. Effervescent.
Mainly coffee with some vanilla aroma. Distant berry fruit discerned.
Mild flavour of charred toasted bread. Subdued coffee present.
Sparkling on the tongue possibly due to secondary fermentation. Thinner than expected but still near to full bodied.
Lacks the depth of other stout Fuller brews but probably representative for the style in 1910.

Not bad. Even though I'm not fond of stouts and other black beers. Complex roasted aroma and taste. Full-bodied, medium carbonization. Well it's classics (as the story on the bottle tells).

What I love about Fullers is the moderate flavours combined with Full Body.
In this case it's a 7% + beer with no real taste elements save moderate roasts, hint chocolate, and a thin body for ABV
Ah well.... Not really a Fullers, is it?

Bottle from the brewery. Great dry stout, not as good as the other offerings though.

The colour is brown-black (90 EBC), the finger thick brown head sinks down to a thin ring leaving no lacing.
The smell is sweet with lots of caramel, salt liquorice and dark chocolate. Some chemical notes of chloride and alcohol, hints of prunes and dried flowers.
Heavily roasted malts dominate the taste, but there are also some cream and dried fruits. Clean decreasing bitterness, some alcohol. Medium to full body. Prunes and salt liquorice in the aftertaste as well as passing smooth brown sugar sweetness. The finish is dry with burned notes of black malt, caramel and bitter herbs.
The carbonation is quite strong; the large bubbles are short-lived. The liquid is somewhat smooth.
A smooth stout with distinct malty flavours, easy to like.
