Look: Dark red-amber brown: Nicely developed head; Lacing apparent.

Smell: Something sweet (Chocolate-vanilla) upon initial pour, but transitions to
more of a soy sauce note once it has sat.

Taste: Initially, I'm getting some sweetness / chocolate; Also something metallic
near the finish; rather thin mouthfeel. Everything seems to change mid-pour
however, perhaps influenced by the meal: (Barbequed chicken, rice, coleslaw). At
this point, I'm getting far more roast/smoke and bitterness + any initial sweetness
(choco, vanilla) has disappeared. Mouthfeel has improved somewhat and the
metallic/mineral note is gone.

Feel: See above

Overall: This may have been a bad food pairing, which has ruined some beers for
me in the past: (Tomato-based sauces/flavors seem to tank dark beers for me.)
I probably wouldn't drink this again, based on how this pour concluded, but should
probably give it another go.

Appearance - This beer pours jet black with an oddly light off white head of 1 and a half fingers which fades fairly quickly. Not a bad thing for a stout or porter so thats fine.

Aroma - Rich coffee beens and delicate dark chocolate hit the nose first, this is followed by some roasted malts, nutty malts and earthy hops. The way they mix together creates a beautiful roasty aroma fit for a world class beer!

Taste - Roasted grains and nuts dominate the flavor profile. this is followed by a strong bitter coffee and 100% dark chcololate. The finish is bitter too. slight caramel sweetness in the aftertaste balances this slightly creating a mouthwatering dark beer!

Feel - Lighter side of medium bodied and creamy carbonation. Bitter finish goes great with the rest of the beer!

Overall - I can't tell you how much I like this beer, its that much, from the look all the way down to the feel everything meshed so well together, you could call it a netcar of the dark beer gods, yum!

Pours a dark ruby body with a faint touch of tan head. The scent is unite strong, and brings a bouquet of coffee, caramel, chocolate, raisins, and some alcohol. The taste continues with great coffee bitterness and an awesome mouthfeel, really blowing many competing porters I've had out of the water. Overall a great porter, would buy again any time.

Classics, typically, deserve what they get. So it is with Fullers London Porter.

Reviewed in the "1001 Beers", it deserves to be there.
I like that Fuller does not rest on its laurels and introduces new beers as it did with this Porter in 1996.
But that is only fitting as porters are a London tradition... and ones their counterparts across the Pond have improved upon... perhaps without the consistent balance of London Porter.

A: Pours a deep mahogany color with a fingers worth of head that sticks around for a while

S: Roasted malts, caramel, chocolate malts, and coffee all come through nicely up front, along with some brown bread and light fruitiness

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with roast and chocolate malts, followed by caramel, coffee, and brown bread. Light fruitiness holds everything up with some light-moderate sweetness. Finishes with lingering roast and maltiness

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Nearing chewy

O: An excellent and exemplary English porter. Nice and easy to drink while providing plenty of flavor in each sip. Definitely worth checking out

I'm going to be plagarizing Ravyn X since it's a perfect description...but I drank it from draught at an English pub in Fort Lauderdale.
-------

Cold, poured from a bottle into a snifter.

Look: Dark brow, thin tan head that clings to the edge of the glass. (great head from draught)

Smell: Toasty malt and dark chocolate.

Taste: Slightly nutty with cocoa and coffee aromas.

Feel: Smooth, minimal carbonation. Medium body.

Overall: Really enjoyable.
