I have been trying as many porters as I can afford, and this very near the top for me. It has a beautiful dark, ruby tinged color, balanced amazing taste and nice aroma, I wish it was easier to find. This is a porter drinker's porter.

This pours a very dark brown, with a tight small head, and a good amount of lacing.

Smells like everything you want a good porter to smell like- light creamy chocolate, roasted coffee, light smoke, and lots of roasted malt. It's a classic for a reason.

I can't believe I'm only trying this beer for the first time now- that's kind of ridiculous. It's perfectly balanced, with all the wonderful flavors- chocolate, coffee, roast, and light smoke- in perfect harmony. It's so drinkable- you could have a ton of these and it wouldn't be an issue at all.

This is medium bodied, and it drinks a bit bigger than the 5.4% ABV. It has a really nice creaminess.

A picture of this beer should be next to the entry for "English Porter" in the dictionary. A true classic.

Dark brown in color with amber hues on the edge of the glass. Poured with a short, dense, creamy, light beige foam with medium low retention. Medium dark chocolate and mellow, light roasted malt aroma with toffee and nutty notes. Medium bodied with medium light carbonation and velvety, creamy smooth feel. Medium dark malt and chocolate flavors up front followed by biscuity malt lightly roasted coffee flavors before medium earthy hop flavor and medium hop bitterness through the middle. Lightly roasted and bready malt flavors from the middle to the end. Finished dryly with light roasted malt and coffee flavors and mild earthy bitterness. Incredibly complex flavors and aromas throughout with an fabulously smooth feel. Very drinkable and flavorful.

Drinking this 3 months after the best before date and it's still delicious. Creamy, malty and fresh. Not going to age the rest of the four pack but will drink in a hurry

on the darker, very balanced, more malt side. The Whip in PA sells this in vintages.

Look: dark brown/black. Little head, dissipated quickly, little lacing.
Smell: Full of chocolate and coffee smell.
Taste: Strong chocolate notes, bitterness from roasted malt. Some spiciness also, and taste of licorice at the end. No hoppiness.

An excellent porter, very complex for only 5.4% ABV. Will definitely have it again.

From Alcampo. In Ikea's pint glass. After dinner. Deliciously chocolatey, smooth and with a well adjusted bitterness, all packed in a relatively low abv for such a great taste and feel

500ml can poured into Sam Adams pint glass.

Pours a deep, dark cherry brown with three fingers of thick creamy tan head that leaves spires and towers of lace as it recedes.

Smells of hot chocolate powder, toasted brown bread, soft caramel, creamed coffee and faint sugared raisin.

More semisweet cocoa powder and creamy coffee, toasted caramel malt, honeyed biscuit and more soft sultana raisin.

Feels soft and velvety. Light side of medium bodied with silky carbonation. Finishes off-dry.

Verdict: Vigorously recommended. Absolutely delicious.

Pours almost opaque, dark brown/black. Head is thin, very soon recedes to a thin ring and leaves no lacing. Smell is sweet caramel, coffee, toasty/roasty (almost smokey), dried plum, butter. Kinda spicy too. Tastes follows with cocoa, coffee, and dark fruit. Hops comes through as it warms and help round things off. The slight bitterness perfectly balances the sweeter side. There's also a faint alcohol presence, and it has a very subdued medicinal thingy going on. It's a pretty smooth brew; body is light to medium and carbonation is really faint. It's almost bordering on watery actually, but not so much that it doesn't feel like beer anymore. It also makes it extremely drinkable, which is always appreciated.

Extremely rich and well-balanced. This is a really, really nice beer -- certainly much better their London Pride.
