Not just the iconic ale of the capital, London Pride is an all-British affair that unites a nation of beer drinkers. It’s brewed with entirely home-grown hop varieties - Target for bittering and Northdown, Challenger and Goldings for aroma - but the soul of the beer is unquestionably in the malt.
Crystal malts combine with spring-harvested Pale Ale varieties Concerto and Propino, to give Pride its inimitable depth and balance.
This tawny-coloured premium ale borrows sweet raisin, biscuit and dried-fruit notes from the Crystal malt, while fresh, piney herbs emanate from the hops. Rich, smooth and elegant on the palate, it draws to a clean, satisfying finish with beautifully balanced bitterness.
4.1% ABV on cask, 4.7% ABV for bottles, cans and kegs.

A moderate through-the-head pour released a finger of off-white soapy foam with short retention and blotches of lacing. Clear amber-brown body with amber-red highlights.
Mild smell of toasted bread and grain greets the nose with some fresh baked bread and dough, mild herbal/floral hops with a hint of resin and grass.
Bold taste of balanced bready and sweet malt. Semi-sweet with above average bitterness and average hop flavor. Straight forward taste, it's all malt and hops, just a hint of toasted nuts and baked apple and pear. The finish is semi-dry with high bitterness, hop flavor rises and lingers with fading sweetness.
Medium bodied with lasting carbonation, great balance and somewhat smooth despite the bitterness. Very English, matches style guidelines and easy going down. Alcohol is very well hidden.

Had a few places in London on cask. Good but there are better options. Reminds me of sweet tea.

An amber pour with high clarity, a decent head and some thin spotty remnants of curtain lacing.
Pleasant toasted caramel malt up front on the nose and palate, smooth bitterness on the back side.
A fairly rich malty and pleasantly bitter brew.
I’m glad I bought more than one, an easy drinking beer. Very good on draught well.

It’s uh… it’s not good. Tastes musty and malty with metallic and dried fruit notes. Low carbonation. At first I thought it tasted average and solid. The more I drank it, the more I noticed it’s kinda bad. Somewhat gag worthy. Samuel Smith is thoroughly worth the few extra dollars. Boddington’s is a lot better, honestly.

330 ml bottle from Total Wine and More in Short Pump, VA. The ale poured a clear dark amber-ruby with a small off-white head that quickly dissipated. There was no lacing on the glass. The aroma of crystal malts and grain greets you. There is some malt sweetness. You can see why this is popular. It is a nicely balanced amber ale with only mild hop bitterness, with the malts taking center stage. The ale has a medium-light body and soft carbonation.
