Tastes fine, it’s nothing special. Like it’s a good flavor but it tastes kind of artificial. The smell is also pretty artificial. I got it in a variety pack and it’s fine but nothing to get excited about.

Poured a cloudy caramel/orange color with a moderate head. It has the aroma of a cheap perfume. The taste is bitter and it has an overwhelming flavor of a cheap cherry cough medicine. The aftertaste is that of a fake sweetener such as aspartame.

Pours a light gold color with an overwhelmingly strong scent of candied cranberries. I smell no essence of the ginger in this shandy. Nice white head with lots of lacing on the glass, which really appeals to the eye. Tastes like a mix of cranberry jelly with a VERY mild breadiness. My major problem with the beer is that it tastes like the majority of the brew is cranberry; the beer essence and the ginger are afterthoughts. Not what I was expecting. Not bad, just not a good thing either. Overall, something nice to have every once in a while, but this certainly deserves no more availability than the winter selection it gets.

Looks pale when pouring but in the glass displays a rich gold color. Quickly disappearing cap leaving traces of lacing.

Aroma of sweet candy like cranberry with a touch of ginger. At least I think I detect ginger though I might be subject to the power of suggestion on that.

Taste is straight up sweet cranberry backed by a brace of tartness with a touch of ginger. Hops are completely overwhelmed and the beer backbone appears as a presence rather than a taste. Clean, distinct flavor that appears to be natural fruit which is supported by a refreshing berry presence in the aftertaste. Nothing artificial detected.

Body enough to know there's some beer in there, somewhere.

A likable, approachable, Summery beery sort of thing that really tastes like something presented at a child's birthday party. The sweetness isn't sticky, it's well done, there just isn't enough tart sharpness to offset the overlying sweetness. Makes me want to reach for a Klosch.

Someone brought some for a party So I had to try. Not really my thing a little to sweet for my taste. Not something I would grab if I want a beer, but you should try for yourself. Cheers.

12oz bottle at least a year old.

A: clear golden with a fluffy off-white head.

S: lemonade and berries, moderate sweetness and a discernible effervescence. Smells tart, sugary, and sweet, and not artificial.

T: sugary sweet with cranberry and lemon tartness with some raspberry accents. The Ginger character is light but it's there as well. Finished with a light/moderate bready malt character that reminds you there's some beer in it, but it's mostly a fruit drink. Again somewhat sweet with the berry character but not syrupy or artificial.

MF: light body, good carbonation, tart.

O: A fun shandy that I couldn't find much fault in. Will probably be a bit two sweet and one-dimensional for others.

Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass.

Out of the can a nice rich off white head is produced, frothy and three fingers easily tall with lots of creamy retention. Ring like lacing manages to snake its way down to a simple amber orange body color. This looks like an almost English pub beer with it's big lacing, really nice looking shandy.

Woah that aroma, it's big when you crack the can. As far as ginger or cranberry, nope. The aroma is big on a sweet green candy apple quality and it's enormous like a giant ballon that is enveloping the glass. A dive in brings in sugar notes of cotton candy and taffy like sugars, and a touch of sour faint acidic apple (acetaldehyde possibly?) . I feel like my nostrils right now are getting cavaties it's so sweet. Ginger or cranberry? Not really getting that at all, just a sweet huge nose that doesn't resemble any decent fruit flavor at all.

Palate leaves little to be desired. Surprisingly there's a decent beer like backbone in mouthfeel with this but it's barely anything than a supporting cast to a really bad actor. Aspartame and Splenda like sweetness abound all over. Hints of fruit is non existent and is somewhere between gobstopper candy and hubba bubba. A drying palate of baseball card chalk bubblegum is all over this, with no sense of ginger spice or what not. Fruit angle is virtually non existent, and tastes like the bottom of a gumball machine.

Cranberry or ginger? Where exactly? Tastes like straight up sugar water with a bigger body. You can drink it but that's about the only thing good going I can say about it. Even as a shandy radler type brew this is just really not that good compared to what's out there.

Poured into a narrow pint glass: color is copper, a little hazy, head is off white with a pinkish hue, fairly dense and lingers well after presenting 1/2 inch thick.

Smell is sweet, soda sweet, not much weisse, cranberry is light.

Taste is also sweet, over sweet - too much soda like flavor, cranberry is present, not much ginger.

Mouthfeel is well carbonated, moderate crisp presence maybe some drying from ginger or hops.

Overall this is a soda with some alcohol, not much beer quality and definitely no weisse quality

It's good if you like verrry sweet fruit beers. I don't. Tons of sweetened cranberry and ginger on the nose and palate. Not exactly my type of beer but like I said, if you like these types, you'll probably love this.

A: Cloudy golden orange with a white head.
S: Strong cranberry scent.
T: Strong cranberry taste, with hints of other more tart berries, and only the slightest ginger taste.
M: Light bodied and sessionable.
O: Decent, cranberry fruit beer. The ginger is certainly lacking and I don't get the only winter availability niche on this one.

From notes taken 05/01/16:

Fizzy but heavy head of moderate retention, off-white, decent lacing. Semi-clear peachy amber, Smells like berries and limes, no distinct cranberry, and not really ginger either. Definite cranberry on the palate, both sweet and quite tart, but not too tart (as is often the case with most things cranberry). Ginger here is subdued, definitely a balancing factor, wouldn’t notice it if not looking. Some of the tartness here is more lemon-like. Light to medium body, fine spritziness, almost smooth. Strong fruit acidity, more so than other Leinie Shandy varieties.

DATE: April 16, 2016... OCCASION: having spent a night with the Morgans at Lehigh Valley’s Iron Pigs stadium, I pull out a beer gift from way back... GLASSWARE: Hoegaarden tumbler... APPEARANCE: unfiltered, hazy golden body that can’t hide trails of white bubbles that build a two-finger white head that fizzes but holds itself reasonably... ... AROMA: the cranberry and ginger meld to a spruce-like suggestion... a bit candied, as expected... a perfume-heavy, medicinal impact--not welcoming.... PALATE: fizzy, light bodied, and drinkable... something like soda, with a lingering aftertaste... TASTE: somewhere between candy and medicine, this beer puts the ginger root in an awkward relationship with the berry... light wheat presence... sweet, almost puckering as a Wonka candy... OVERALL: in addition to creating a gassy exit, this beer simply becomes another in the long line of shandies that doesn’t really invite another attempt... the aftertaste is obtrusive.. . only slightly refreshing...

Pours a hazy, golden color. 3/4 inch head of a white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of ginger, strong citrus (artificial concentrate), and slight wheat. Fits the style of a Fruit / Vegetable Beer. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of strong citrus (artificial?), hint of wheat, and slight ginger. Overall, good appearance, aroma and body suggest synthetic, and the complexity is quite low.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 2/29/2016. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lightly tart cranberry, lemon, orange, grapefruit, pear, apple, ginger, light clove, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance of cranberry, ginger, bready malt, and light-moderate yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart cranberry, lemon, orange, grapefruit, pear, apple, ginger, light clove, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of cranberry, lemon, orange, grapefruit, pear, apple, ginger, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of cranberry, ginger, bready malt, and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, fairly creamy/bready, and slightly acidic balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a very good shandy style. All around good robustness and balance of cranberry, ginger, bready malt, and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

12 fl oz. can, best by March 07, 2016. Acquired a single can of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's.

Poured into clear tulip-ish stemware.

A - Cloudy orange-ish pour; hazy, with about a finger of thin wispy white head. Only minor lacing.

S - A bright appealing aroma: citrusy, tart, & fruity. Subtle notes of cranberry, lemon, mixed berries, blueberry. The ginger comes through more as a citrusy lemon character. No identifiable hops or malts or yeast or any actual "beer" in the aroma, but it smells good and appealing.

T - Taste follows the nose: a crisp, citrusy mixed berry flavor. Cranberry, blueberry, lemon. Minor tartness / fruitiness. Not entirely authentic tasting; it has notes of the Bud Light Lime Straw-Ber-Rita to it. Not awful for what it is, however.

M - Feel is smooth, crisp, lightly tart. Drinkable stuff.

Overall, an interesting shandy varietal from Leinenkugel's. Not something I would go for again or often, but recommended to the casual drinker, to be sure.

I've always loved beers with that tart cranberry taste (I'm a fan of sours). From the moment I opened it I knew it'd be a fun ride. It has all the smell, flavor and aftertaste of a cranberry dressing without having to be sweet. The fruit flavor almost makes you think it's sweet. I don't really get as much of a ginger taste, but it is there. The golden Amber look of it throws me off and I love it. Definitely a future fan favorite

Thanks to Elonia+Greg who left a few strays from a 12-pack behind a few weeks ago, and introducing me to this surprisingly great beverage.

A - The color is an unexpected darkish orange with a little bit of a pinkish hue to it. A white head starts at about 2 fingers and ends as a mostly full cap. Some lace bits left behind.

S - The smell is straight cranberry juice. Like someone just straight-up uncapped a good ol half-gal of Ocean Spray and stuck it in my face. Just a hint of ginger here and kind of a sweet red apple vibe.

T - Sweet, slightly tart, and yes, artificial cranberry all the way with a faint-but-certainly noticeable spicy ginger kick. Honey sweetness and still other fruit flavors coming to mind (orange, apple, etc.). Just a hint of toasted wheat in the finish.

M - Actually quite a solid body for the low ABV, decent heft with high carbonation that borders on spiky. Refreshing, the sweetness is a bit cloying sure, but 12oz goes down like nothin'. Probably wouldn't want more than one or two.

O - It pretty much comes off as carbonated fruit juice -- I love cranberry juice so perhaps I'm biased, but I think this is uber-tasty and accomplishes its goal pretty well. The ginger is complementary, the body is nice, and the cranberry though artificial is pretty delicious. Don't go looking for complexities, it is what it is.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a billowy white head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a good level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is rather strong of a cranberry wheat smell mixed with a little bit of a lemon smell. Along with these aromas comes some light ginger and a little bit of hay.

Taste – The taste begins with a sweet cranberry juice taste mixed with a bready wheat taste. As the taste moves on the sweet fades just ever so slightly all while a bit of a grassy and hay taste come to the tongue. Even though the sweet fades a bit, the cranberry remains, just taking on a slightly more sour lemon and bitter taste. While the taste bitters, the taste is still overall sweet, and with a little bit of ginger coming at the very end of the taste one is left with a sweet cranberry wheat taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the sweeter and fruited wheat flavors of the brew the feel is rather nice and makes for a easy drinking brew overall.

Overall – A bit too sweet and fruity for a winter style brew in my opinion. I think I would like this more as a summer style brew, sipping it outside in the warm weather. OK, but nothing too exceptional here.

This beer is one of those beers where if it's around, I'll drink it, but I won't go out of my way to get it. The Cranberry Ginger combo is... interesting. Tolerable at worst, but it's not my first flavor choice. Might even be a little too gingery. And it kind of leaves a weird after taste in your mouth.

Look: light gold, medium head.

Smell: cranberry, malt.

Taste: less ginger (it's in the finish), surprisingly sweet cranberries. It's not bad, not as tart as expected, but there is something metallic going on here.

Feel: Good, fairly carbonated if you ask me. A little abrasive.

Overall: I always try the Leinenkugel's if they are around, and I was excited to discover cranberry ginger--ginger is one of my favorite flavors. Honestly, it's just another cheap shandy, but it is what it is. If, like me, you like just trying the ones you haven't had, then go for it. Save it for the lawnmower otherwise.

From the 12. fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on January 17, 2016.

Slightly cloudy yellow pour with a quick lasting fizzy white head.

The cranberry and ginger are both overpowering on the nose but that is to be expected considering the style. Any malts or hops are buried beneath it all.

Sparkling light body.

The taste is more like fruit juice than beer but it has a kind of tart finish to it.
