Grabbed a 12 oz can from the Leine's Shandy Sampler my brother brought over. The canning code says this one is good for another two months. Poured right from the fridge into my Founders pint glass.

L: Pours a bright lemon wheat color--very hazy--with about an inch of white, frothy head that sticks around for a good bit, settling on a solid film that leaves minimal lacing on the glass. At the edges, profuse visible carbonation present.

S: While I can discern the faint watermelon, slightly more more assertive lemon, and the cracker malts with their wheat companion, the whole nose comes across a little too close to bile. Not exactly looking for my refreshments to smell like that before I've had the chance to drink them the first time.

T: The taste is a big improvement over the smell, fortunately. This one starts off on light cracker malts, with a touch of sweetness and quite subtle wheat flavor. The next flavors to register on the palate are lemon and watermelon, occurring pretty much in unison, with the lemon displaying a bit more assertiveness (though the melon might take it in terms of longevity). This isn't a fake Jolly Rancher watermelon we're talking about--this scores points for delivering a restrained, more-or-less natural flavor. The close has more lemon/watermelon and a crisp cracker and wheat finish, with perhaps the slightest astringency from hops.

F: Light-bodied, quite effervescent and creamy in the front and middle, and a bit astringent at the close. No bitter to speak of, at all. These are quite easy to put away.

O: The throw-up-in-your-mouth-bouquet thing aside, this was a mildly enjoyable warm-weather beer. Leine's doesn't let any of the flavors get too crazy or artificial-tasting, and the pairing of lemon with watermelon works a lot better than I thought it would. I would still take a Grapefruit Shandy or a Ginger Shandy over this one; but if you're into watermelon, give this one a shot.

DATE: September 15, 2017... OCCASION: a muggy night spent running (four miles through a bug-infested park) and soccer practice... in need of something light... GLASSWARE: Hoegaarden tumbler... this one should be quick...a sallow, murky yellow body akin to muddy river water supports a foamy, bubbly off-white head that shows some spunky resilience... tart, candied mouthfeel, reminiscent of wacky wafers or a scented eraser--fun, but not alluring... mouthfeel is fizzy, fuzzy, gassy, lightly refreshing, active as it hits the throat, and slightly creamy... easily slammable, its biggest asset... the flavor here is predictably candied watermelon, with hints of hay, lemon grass, and cracker malts... as a shandy case mate, this would be my last choice--fruity, fizzy, and refreshing, but not too far removed from an alcoholic seltzer...

Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. "Leinenkugel's Watermelon Shandy"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, coded "AUG0717 C01201055" and sampled on AUG2517
$2 @ Weis, Conshohocken, PA

Leinenkugel's Watermelon Shandy pours a very hazy straw gold body beneath a short head of bright white that holds well and leaves some small spots and slashes of lace behind.

The aroma delivers a light bit of watermelon and some sweetish malt.

The flavor is fuller than the aroma suggests, and the watermelon, although it's not real, actually appears fairly authentic. It's not very bitter, and it is sweetish, but it's not too sweet. Along with the watermelon there's a note of honey that's quite nice.

It's light-medium in body and gently effervescent with a little zing on the tongue.

As far as shandy's go you could do much worse. It's light and pleasant and refreshing, and perfect for a sunny day.

Leinenkugel's Watermelon Shandy brewed by Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company, with an ABV of 4.20% This brew pours out a cloudy hazy golden amber color with a nice white head. There is also a decent amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with Watermelon sweetness, and some citrus notes. You also pick up on some nice grains and malts in the smell of this brew. Between the look and the smell this is one inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is smooth but full of flavors. You pick up on the Watermelon and the mild citrus flavors tie it all together. This is one smooth going brew.Leinenkugel's Watermelon Shandy has a real nice balance to it, there is nothing overpowering about this brew. I like how smooth this brew goes down. It goes nice on a hot summer day. The body is a light medium. Mouth feel of Leinenkugel's Watermelon Shandy is Watermelon, Smooth, Clean, Crisp, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving this brew a 4.25 out of 5. I would look this brew up again givin the chance to. Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company, did a real nice job with this one. If you are looking for something different in your Shandy brew or you are a fan of Watermelon look this one up.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a whitish/golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of watermelon candy, jolly ranchers come to mind. Taste is surprisingly mild compared to the smell. Grains, light watermelon, touch of sweetness. Feels light bodied in the mouth and overall is highly refreshing, but otherwise a mediocre beer.

12 ounce can, best by date of May 09 16 printed on the bottom of the can. A buddy gave me this a few days ago and I didn't have a chance to try it until today. Served in a can shaped pint glass, the beer pours a hazy gold color with about an inch and a half head that stuck around a little while. There's also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like lemon/lime citrus, bready/grainy malt and some watermelon Jolly Rancher candies. I think the taste is mostly like the aroma, but the watermelon flavor is somewhat stronger compared to the others. I also think the watermelon taste in this brew is artificial/candy-like. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's well carbonated but easy to drink. I have to say that I'm not exactly a watermelon fan at all, but I'd try this again. Like the other Leinie's shandies I've tried, I think it would be a good brew for a hot day.

Leinenkugel's Watermelon Shandy | Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, the head on this is two fingers thick, with spotty lacing, and a pale opaque gold body.

Smells like watermelon, duh.

The taste is also that of the watermelon variety, with some lighter malts.

Medium-light mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

I'll choose to give Leinenkugel's Watermelon Shandy | Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company a 4.25 rating.

Leinenkugel's Watermelon Shandy has a thin, white head, a very hazy, yellow-gold appearance, fierce bubbles, and a bit of glass lacing. Aroma is of sugar, watermelon, and white wheat bread. Taste is similar, with some spice thrown in, as well. Mouthfeel is fluffy and medium, and Watermelon Shandy finishes medium dry.
