Leinenkugel’s® BeerGarten Tart® starts out with a snap of tartness balanced by a subtle sweetness from pale malts. It’s our take on a Berliner Weisse, a classic German biergarten summer favorite. Brewed with American wheat, BeerGarten Tart’s light body and refreshing finish are perfect for warm summer days.

All hatred aside for Leinenkugel - this tarty beer is pretty decent...

Right off the bat, pouring it into my new Guinness glasses given to me by my son for my birthday, the brew was absolutely unspectacular - it really looked like your typical amber-colored light beer, with a weak head and no lacing. The smell was better - a distinct odor of the tart and sweetness touted on the bottle. Mouthfeel started out very carbonated, but then pulled back to reveal the light-bodied beer that was very "guzzable" as I like to say on a hot summer's day. As far as taste was concerned, it was okay - this beer reminded me more of a Mike's Hard Lemonade than anything else. Still though, I enjoyed it and out by the pool or beach it would make for something better than a Corona with a lime wedged into it.

Rather disappointing. I guess I expected more from my first "tart" beer. Almost like pouring a carbonated flavored water that tastes a little like beer. Got it in a sampler pack, so I only had to endure 3 of them.

Leinenkugel's Beergarten Tart has a medium, white head, a mostly clear, golden, bubbly appearance, with some dust-like suspended sediment throughout, and a bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is full in the nose, and one picks up pungent, sweet bread, and maybe, even sourdough. Also, there is fried won ton noodles smell, coming into play. Taste is mainly of wheat bread, but the tart notes shine, across the sip, yet they are not strong. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Beergarten Tart finishes a bit dry and highly drinkable.

A: Pours a clear pale yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint pale golden yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall fizzy foamy bright white head that quickly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate amounts of tart/slightly sour wheat. Hints of lemon citrus.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of slightly sour wheat and pale malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of lactobacillus and lemon citrus. There is a light amount of lingering tartness in the finish.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp with a light amount of acidic prickliness.

O: Easy to drink and just enough tartness to be refreshing on a warm summer afternoon. Slightly less interesting than some other examples in the style but still one I could have a couple of...
