Notes: Featuring a touch of real Wisconsin honey, Leinenkugel's Honey Weiss is a golden-hued traditional American weiss beer inspired by a classic German style. It's traditionally garnished with a lemon wedge for added citrus aroma that perfectly complements the sweet, subtle flavors of the beer.

12 fl oz screw-top brown glass bottle from a Leinie's variety box/12 pack (2021 vintage):

4.9% ABV. "Weiss beer brewed with real Wisconsin honey." Best before NOV2221.

The honey doesn't lend much to this simple ale, but it's a well carbonated and refreshing beer with fresh flaked wheat and 2-row pale malt flavours along with mild caramelization notes.

About what I expected given the brewery, which is to say it's average. Easy drinking, though.

This is a 12oz. bottle poured into a 20oz. weizen glass. The beer is a very attractive gold color with a very nice head of puffy white foam. The head disappeared rather quickly leaving a large amount of lacing behind. It is very easy to watch the medium carbonation in this very clear golden brew.
The aroma is a little faint, there is a slight amount of malt notes I pick up.
The taste is very nice, a bit of wheat, the bread flavor from the malts, and a very noticeable honey flavor that adds nicely to the flavor of this beer. I am not picking up on any banana or clove flavors typical in the Kristalweizen style. There is nothing bitter about this beer at all, just very smooth.
The beer has a slight creamy feel to it.
This is a solid beer, maybe nothing spectacular. The honey flavor is very nice, I like this beer and will pick up more, it is an easy one to drink several of these at a time. If it was not under the German Kristalweizen style I would rate it much higher.

About as close to a perfect beer ive found. Thick enough, Full taste, It's not flat has plenty of carbonation, I hate flat beer, and what i find very important is the after taste. Not bitter just a nice smooth wheaty flavor rolling down the back of your tongue with a slight sweetness. ps If i wanted flat beer id drink cheap wine

Appearance: Pours a completely clear, light golden color with a beautiful bubbly and pillowy white head that slowly fades. SRM of 7-8. (3.75)

Aroma: Mild aroma of corn and pale adjunct malts, dry wheat, corn, mash, with faint honey and lemon. A definite corn adjunct malt aroma as well. (3.25)

Flavor: Flavor follows similar to the nose but with more lemon. There is honey, corn, wheat upfront followed by a still mild lemon sweetness in the middle. Somewhat tart lemon. Finishes yeasty with a bit of Campbell's chicken-noodle soup flavor.Slightly sweet with a bit of tartness. (3.50)

Feel: Medium weight, but the grains and bread give it a somewhat full body and mouthfeel. (3.75)

Compared to Fulton Blonde 9/5/20: Pours a similar color with a larger head. Mild aromas of corn, lemon, wheat. Some mash. Less lemon and sugar. Dryer and has more wheat tartness. Also more corn.

Compared to Bahaus' Wonderstuff 11/15/20: Pours a similar, slightly bright color. More aromas/flavors of corn, adjuncts, dry wheat. Less sweet roll and lemon citrus

Compared to Odell's Colorado Lager 12/18/20: Pours a darker color with a stronger head. Stronger corn adjuncts and mash aromas. Less honey and white bread. Much more yeast.

Compared to Lake Monster Brewing's Como Claw 1/13/21: Pours a similar color with a stronger head. More wet wheat, corn mash, adjunct honey. Less citrus and bread.

Compared to Castle Danger's Castle Cream Ale 3/1/21: Slightly lighter color. Far more corn mash and adjuncts on the aroma. More pale and yeasty. Overall, quite similar.

Compared to Bent Paddle's Classic Cream Ale 3/8/21: Pours an identical color. More corn mash and adjuncts on the aroma/flavor. Less honey, sweet bread. Stronger carbonation and dryer. Winner: Classic.

Harp Lager: 3/23/21: Similar appearance. More lemon, corn mash, and adjunct flavors. Less bready, yeasty, and grainy flavor.

to Trader Joe's Lager 4/12/21: Pours a slightly darker color. More wheat, yeast, adjuncts and corn mash on the aroma/flavor. Less bready and smooth. More carbonation and dryer.

to Goose Island's Natural Villain 5/19/21: More corn adjuncts and corn mash. Less bread and yeast flavors. Overall, quite similar.

Overall: This is my first Krystalweizen, but I can say I'm a fan of the body, but not the flavor. Similar to an American Wheat, but ithe flavor drinks like an adjunct lager. The body is big and it finishes nice and dry. A slightly lower rating b/c as the beer warms the corn adjunct creeps stronger. Sort of like a Miller Light on steroids. A pretty simple fix though, don't use corn malts. (Final Rating: 3.48)

12oz bottle bb 4/22/19 poured into a becher glass at fridge temp 4.9% ABV. The beer pours light straw yellow with some chill haze and nearly white head. The head recedes to a thin ring and a few bubbles. The aroma is wheat malt and a little vague sweetness. The taste is eerily similar to their AAL. I get a little wheat flavor then tart and creamed corn. No bitterness. The mouthfeel is thin bodied with sharp, prickly carbonation and an undry, unclean finish. Overall, not good. Every beer I drink from this brewery seems worse and worse. They literally didn’t hit a single note for the style.

Pours a clear gold color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Great retention and slight lacing. Smells of strong pale malt, yeast, hint of sweet malt, hint of honey, and a hint of citrus hops. Fits the style of a German Kristalweizen. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong pale malt, corn, hint of sweet malt, hint of honey, and a hint of citrus hops. Overall, better then expected and good blend.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a glass.

Look - Crystal clear golden orange color. Streams of visible carbonation. No head.

Smell - Dominantly honey with a bready bit of malt and the tiniest bit of grassy hops.

Taste - The most vile concoction I've ever tasted. Disgustingly sweet in a vomit sort of way. Like honey mixed with rot and fungus. Terrible in every way imaginable.

Feel - Overly carbonated, gives an unpleasant feel to the terrible taste.

Overall - The first beer I've ever poured down the drain. Avoid at all costs. Don't know why this exists.

Smooth, crisp, refreshing mouth feel.
Pleasant, clean tasting beer with the honey sweet touch.

It taste a little bit like a below average Kristallweissen with honey. Leinenkugel brew good stuff, but I am not sure this is their best, but it is good enough.

Look: golden yellow with a thick white head

Aroma: moderate aroma of honey and wheat

Taste: You can taste the honey and a modest weissen wheat/banana flavor, but it is otherwise a bit bland, and a tad watery.

Feel: light body

This has a light golden look.....medium head at first pouring and mild carbonation. It has a smooth lightly honey ,malty flavor. Not too many hints of hops here. Not a bad beer, but should not be as expensive as it is.

this is a mellow smooth beer that goes down easy. If you are looking for a yeasty, hoppy, bitter tongue strangling after taste this beer is not for you. My wife use it in her pizza crust ingredients and boy it is good. It is our go to beer when we want a break from the IPA's or strong yeasty bitter brews.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 12/5/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of honey, wheat, cracker, and biscuit; with lighter notes of lemon, banana, bubblegum, pepper, clove, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of honey, pale malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste honey, wheat, cracker, and biscuit; with lighter notes of lemon, banana, bubblegum, pepper, clove, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of honey, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light banana/clove, and herbal yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of honey, pale malt and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately creamy/grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a nice pale wheat ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of honey, pale malt and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

I had a very fresh bottle I picked up in Wisconsin while visiting family. Really good, I thought this would be another beer that was too sweet, but it's almost perfect for what it is. Amazing on a hot summer's day, it's definitely not a "poor" beer.

APPEARANCE: A clear, golden/straw. A finger of white head that lasts a little while and leaves some mild lacing down the glass. Nice level of carbonation rising.
AROMA: Sweet, honey, malty, grainy and a little earthiness.
TASTE: The aroma accurately describes it.
FEEL: Average level of carbonation, a little sticky, drier towards the finish, medium thin body.
OVERAll; A little on the sweet side, could use a bit more in the way of a bittering hop for balance.

From notes taken 05/18/16:

Clear, pure, very pretty golden yellow, very sparse flecks. Whitish head of lower-moderate retention. Honey, wheat, mild yeast mustiness, lightest fruity esters to the nose. Tastes similar to some very cereal-forward Belgian Pales I’ve had. Some malt and wheat tartness. Honey is more subdued than even what you’d find in a number of Pale and Adjunct lagers. Notice it more in the back, and more so flavor than sweetness. Light- to medium-bodied, refreshing, mouth-coating, well carbonated with tingles and suds. Overall, velvety mouthfeel.

I love this beer during the summer time. I am not big on hints of taste. I haven't fully developed into that like I use to be on cigars so this is a poor mans review. It tastes like honey and wheat when you drink it. Like it on hot summers days with burgers, steak, or whatever else you decide to cook up. It is light and you will not be disappointed if your looking for a honey flavored beer.

Yellow, nice clarity, heavy carbonation. Aroma was sweet, I don't know how honey like it is, but sweet for sure.

Taste is almost a meld shandy wise of soda, lemonade, tea and whatnot. Expensive, and there's just so many better examples of hot weather beer that does the trick.

The beer pours out into a Duvel glass a clear bright yellow with a thick, fluffy 2 1/2" white head that slowly recedes to a thin layer of foam that leaves patches of lacing. Sipping leaves scattered patches of lacing. Eventually the head recedes to an large island of foam, a circle of foam with patches and legs of lacing clinging to the sides of the glass.

The aromas include the wheat, a bit of malt and some light touches of honey.

The flavors include the wheat, some sweetness from the malt, and hints of earthy bitterness from the hops.

The mouthfeel is on the light bodied and slightly crisp from the moderate carbonation. The finish is medium length and begins with the sweetness fading away leaving the grains and dry bitterness to gradually close the show.

Overall while this is not an exceptional beer it is clean, refreshing and easy drinker. It would be particularly good during the summer and at a backyard barbecue. While, I don't intend to seek out another bottle, I certainly could be persuaded to accept another and am glad to have tried it.

Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a light golden amber with thin white head that dissapates to patches leaving light, slippery lacing. Aroma of light, grainy lager malt, hints of wheat and honey. Light bodied with good carbonation. An odd take on a wheat beer, smelling and tasting much more like a light adjunct lager with additional flavors. There is some wheat, especially in the taste, and some nice light honey flavor, as well as a hint of clove, but this does not fit a wheat beer profile very well. The light honey is nice and the taste is more interesting than a typical adjunct beer, but that is faint praise. Drinkable and harmless, but should be reformulated to bring out the wheat character that would make this stand out.
