A hard pour delivers a good size head in my pint glass. The head quickly shrinks to just enough to cover the surface. A steady stream of carbonation keeps this coating through out the tasting. Light yellow in color due to being filtered, I place my nose in the glass. A very faint aroma of honey is detected. Tasting it shows though even less of a honey flavor. Just enough sweetness to be refreshing. Not really picking up any of the usual weiss flavors (clove, banana). Not really getting a hop taste except a little in the aftertaste. I can see having a couple on the patio.

pours a crystal clear straw color with a few fingers of tight white head after a hard pour.

smell is sweet, with pale malts and some mild hops. corn is detectable in the smell, which pushes the smell off-balance a bit. the honey is only distant in the smell, not providing much sweetness.

taste is malty and sweet up front, with wheat and citrus being the focus. notes of honey, yeast, and mild grassy hops. the taste is much more balanced than the smell; sweeter and more refreshing.

mouthfeel is medium-light bodied, slick and creamy. very smooth liquid.

drinkability is great. there isn't much here to lower drinkability; this is a light brew without any bold or excessive flavors. mild and refreshing, which is just what it is trying to be.

Pours a clear golden straw yellow color with 1 pinky of bubbly white head, some retention, spotty lacing. Smells of wheat with a touch of honey and some lemon. Taste is very biscuit-like with honey and vanilla, and a finish of lemon. Light in body with good carbonation, sweet with a crisp finish. Very refreshing and easy to drink, but not much going on to really excite the palate.

12 oz bottle, best by 11/9/09, into a deep goblet.

A: Clear, bright gold body; small white head that dissipates quickly, leaving little lace; very light on the visible carbonation. Boring.

S: Light, grainy, and somewhat sweet. Nothing much, but nothing off either.

T: Light and refreshing, with just a hint of wheat spice and yeastiness. Honey sweetness and dry breadiness fight it out on the finish. Just what I'd look for in beer of this style.

M: Light bodied with ample, soft carbonation (far more than its appearance boded). Not bad.

D: A touch sweeter than some other beers of its style, but still quite quaffable.

Notes: This has long been a go-to summer refresher for me, and I think it's one of the more successful brews in Leinie's lineup. Nothing truly remarkable, but always satisfying.

Cheers!

This is a flavorful sluggin' beer--a "banquet" beer to use Coors' term-- a beer that you might find a fireman's ball or an old man's fridge.

Pours clear and straw-golden but with a nice head. Smells faintly like lemons and honey with just a hint of malt. Nice smell, surprisingly, but faint.

As much as it may look like a regular macro, it sure as heck doesn't much taste like one. I mean, the taste is still as woefully faint as that of a macro, but it's actually good. Yeast upfront with a hint of citrus and a little wheat bitterness. More wheat in the back and a sweet kick of dry honey. Complex and tasty, but not flavorful enough.

Thin on the body, like a macro, but it's pretty darn smooth and you can pound these all night.

A - Golden color. Not much of a head on this. Clear.

S - Disappointed. Expected honey or sweetness but not really getting it. Smells malty.

T - Again, its good but just bland. While the taste is of bread, and some sugary finish, there isn't honey flavor at all.

M - Smooth beer. Not heavy and very little carbonation.

D - A good drinker for the summer months.

It isn't a bad beer but not one I'd go after specifically.

had this on tap at William's bar in uptown Mlps, a while back.

Pours a slightly hazy lemondrop color, with a fluffy though shortlived snow white head.

Smells of wheat, honey (weird, I know), and a nice touch of lemon. Quite refreshing, but no hops or malt smells come through.

Taste is refreshing, like a heavier, more solidifed version of the summer shandy. Not quite as sweet, a bit more heft, more enjoyable when paired with food.
Generally not a huge fan of this category, but Leinie's strikes a good note with this one -- at least in my book.

Poured into a weizen glass this develop a nice, dense head of foam about two fingers thick which slowly reduced. The beer is a pale yellow with a slight yellow glow and tons of carbonation.

Wonderful smells from the wheat and the yeast. It smells much like a German weizen with a backdrop of astringent lemon. Take that astringency out of it and I would have ranked the smell higher.

Very light in taste...too light. I wanted it to taste as good as it smells and it doesn't. A metallic tang accompanies the rest of the flavors and overshadows them. This beer could have exhibited nice wheat tones and brilliant lemon and subtle coriander with a bit more sweetness from the honey. Instead, those are all pushed to the back and the flaws in the beer shine through. This drops the mouthfeel as well. With the carbonation and classic ingredients, it could have been crisp and refreshing as any weizen, but it's not.

Maybe I'm just spoiled.

A- very pale yellow colored body with a small white head. some small visible bubbles.

S- honey, metal, and grain.

T- sweeter than normal wheat. i guess thats from the honey.

M- crisp, clean, and refreshing. well carbonated.

D- certainly not one of my favorites, but something i could see myself drinking several of while camping or in an other situation where im "roughing it." easy to drink and reminds me of summer.

I have heard this beer be compared to Blue Moon Honey Wheat a lot so when I saw it in there summer sampler. I thought well I had never tried any of Leinekugel’s beers it was high time that I did.

Appearance- It poured a translucent yellow with a an average sized clean white head.

Smell- It smelled of sweet malt. I think honey always brings out the malt. It had a little but not much of the fruity bouquet that is often affiliated with a wheat beer too.

Taste- Mildly fruity esters as a wheat beer should. Followed by a sweet aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. In about the average range nothing spectacular.

Drinkability- I would drink it again.

This beer is probably my least favorite of Leinenkugel's main offerings. Smell is not very strong, and not very distinct. This is refreshing, but fairly basic. I can taste a hint of honey towards the end. Mouthfeel is a bit weak, though I have to say given the very dense taste of the Blue Moon honey beer I had recently, maybe it is better to err on the side of less-dense rather than more dense for a honey-laden beer. Overall, though I'm a Leinie's fan, this is not particularly special.

The flag-ship of their line I believe. At least it's the one everybody in MN goes for first. A good summer ale, sweet, nice light smell. A bit thicker than you'd expect, which is good. Goes well with large grinder sandwiches.

A: Clear yellow with a one-finger head. Died fast but has a good amount of lacing.

S: Grainy malts and wheat. A tiny hint of honey.

T: Very wheaty with a tiny bit of sweet honey.

M: Decent amount of carbonation with a clean finish. A medium body thanks to the trace amount of honey flavor which seems to thicken the beer by a small amount. A little watery nonetheless.

O: Easy to drink, clean finish, one of the more fuller-bodied Kristalweizen's but was still a little too watery. Overall a good beer with common flaws, so compared to others, one of the better ones.

Smell-Very honey like. Some hops.

Looks-Straw like yellow. Not that great.

Taste-Lots of honey up front. The after taste isn't that great. The after taste, taste like a Bud Light or something like that.

Overall it's not that bad of a beer. Much better than Bud Light or a big mainstreem beer..but not far off from them. Give it a try.

Pours golden and fizzy. Completely clear with a very thin head that immediately dissipates.
Smell is of generic malt. Touch of honey to the smell.
Taste is fairly generic as well. Wheat and malt tastes with the slight touch of honey hardly noticeable.
Nice on the mouthfeel. Very crisp feel to it with a little fiz in the mouth.
Could drink this beer all day in the heat. The only problem is that it is a little too boring to drink more than a couple of these.

This beer pours into a nice golden yellow beer with a small white head that has excellent lacing, retention and carbonation. I can smell a little wheat in this beer, but not much else and when tasting this beer with a nice creamy feel that clings to your tongue and cheeks all I can say is that I do taste some wheat followed by a malty taste with a little bit of honey in the aftertaste. This is a good beer for someone that wants an easy drinking beer that has a very good mouth feel that isn't too strong on the taste buds. To me this is another Leinie that is fine in a variety pack, but just like Creamy Dark I would not get it in a six pack.
