MAR 27 17 printed on the bottle.
12 oz. bottle poured into a tumbler pint glass.

Poured like a soft drink. Cloudy, pinkish orange and bubbly with finger of fizzy disappearing head. Smells like sweet berry wine. Tastes like sweet raspberry wine, a little malty then finishes clean and bittersweet. Refreshing, light and fizzy with high carbonation.

This is just like a wine cooler to me. Not bad but definitely not in my wheelhouse. I let my sweet tooth get the better of me on this purchase. I should have known better, at least it was only a single.

This is not THAT bad...as being rated poor, but it is a sweet yet no too sweet tasting beer. My wife has me get this for her. I like the other selections from Leinenkugal's better. Since it is my wife's favorite selection....probably indicates it's a chick beer....just sayin'.

Picked up Berry Weiss at the local grocery store. Put bottles in fridge to get cold before drinking. Opening the beer, the smell is definitely a berry type of scent and not much else. Taste is a wheat beer taste that seems to be infused with berries-- it seems to be tart cranberry tasting juice to me-- and it mixes in right where the clean taste common with wheat beers is found, right in the middle of the drink lasting to the end. Also very carbonated and a little bitter in the end.

The beer is not bad, but is not great either-- people that enjoy most fruit-fused beers will enjoy this. I will say, the juice in the beer seemed to blend with the beer better the longer it sat in my fridge, so if you get this one and do not like the taste initially, just keep it in the fridge for a couple of weeks and revisit it.

Pours from a 12 oz. bottle a crazy light cranberry color with a pink tinged rocky head of foam that is dropping quickly.
The smell is an explosion of sweet berry bombing my nose. Smells so sweet and delicious.
The taste is slightly grainy with a lot of sweet berries. Kind of tastes like a liquefied Captain Crunch cereal.
Mouth feel is foamy and carbonated as heck. It feels like the carbonation makes this into a foamy ball of berry goodness that crashes over the tongue to a wet finish on the backside.
Overall I am having a hard time finding the beer in this one. I do find a fun berry flavored malt beverage but beer? I am very happy with this purchase as this is a tasty beverage yet difficult to identify it as a beer.

It pours a weird cooper hue with a overload of berry to the smell. Taste is same as smell, just a fruity taste ( not even sure if beer was in it.) This is one where it starts out nice but then ends up not worth it. I like a little sweetness but this just becomes overpowering about half way through.

Not that I'm embarrassed but I'm just drinking this because it's leftover from a bbq. Fruity brew with essence of honey. A little bitterness at the end. No surprises- you know what you are getting. I'd rather have fruit all by itself. Keeping an open mind it is thirst quenching and very flavorful. My only take back is the twang of bitterness.

From notes taken 05/04/16:

Dull, semi-clear honey amber with various strong pink tones in any light. Large, foamy, uniform, well-retaining head, very light pink, like grapefruit yogurt. Sweet and tart berries to the nose and little else besides. Makes me crave blackberry or raspberry pie, but I’d settle for raspberry. Much the same to the palate save that berries are less distinct, as well as partly subdued by grain bill. Finish is sweet at first, then almost rubbery, then surprisingly clean and crisp. Medium-bodied, medium level of sloshy tingles and fine suds.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. The appearance is a shade of copper with a reddish hue and a very small white head. The aroma is an overpowering very sweet berry smell. The taste is way to much berry and not enough beer. An average beer.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 3/14/2016. Pours lightly hazy orange/pink/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of tart blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, cherry, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance of berries, pale malt, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of tart blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, cherry, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Moderate fruity/tannic tartness and light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, cherry, wheat, cracker, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of berries, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/tart/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Good amount of dryness from bitter/tartness as well. Medium carbonation and light bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, fairly acidic/tannic, and lightly grainy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is a nice fruit wheat beer. All around good balance and robustness of berries, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Very fruity beer and honestly under-rated beer. For the fact i have used this beer in my chili to put a tang in it says a lot for fruity beer. Just worth a try

Somewhat of a pink hue to the appearance, almost no head. Aroma was sweetener and candy like, not impressed, lacking any fruit connotation to it.

Taste was just rough. More sweetener. Almost nothing in the way of beer like notes except for the bottle it came in. Just nothing going on here that would ever make me recommend it. No hops, malt, fruit in a fruit beer. Staaaahp.

it's too sweet to drink more than one of, although the flavor isn't as bad as some people claim it is. i'd recommend one of leinenkugels shandys over this one.

This beer has a nice Blackberry and honey flavor - sweet and delicious. A good summer porch beer to drink after typing over one hundred and fifty characters.

Aroma: very sugary sweet, like candy, with sweet fruit aromas such as blackberry and Concord grape. There is a mild malt note in the background.

Appearance: frothy, finger-width white head that dissipates into a thin layer of foam. Some light, spotty lacing. Rosé colored hazy body.

Taste: initially there's sugary sweetness. Then, there's a strong mixed berry flavor that continues into the aftertaste. Towards the end of the taste, a hop twang kicks in, which becomes quite unpleasant insofar as it blends with the sugary, artificial berry flavor and the beer's texture to create a cough syrup taste experience (the hops mimicking the alcohol bitterness of cough syrup). In the background, there is a mild bread flavor from the malt.

Mouthfeel: light side of medium. Moderately carbonated.

Finish: mostly wet, somewhat chewy, and savory like a tart or candy.

Overall, I think Leinenkugel's makes fine flavored beers, but this is not one of them. I dislike the cough-syrup feel and flavor of this beer. The flavor is, like cough syrup, artificially sweet and overall disingenuous. This is not one of Leinekugel's better achievements.

Appearance - Pours a relatively clear violet-heavy crimson color with a pink, half finger head that fizzes away really quickly, leaving a mostly barren surface.

Smell - Mostly blackberry aroma with touches of raspberry and honey, and a faint breadiness.

Taste - Sweet notes of 'black' and 'rasp' berry and honey with a cereal grain backbone. Not much depth, with a watery, sugary sweet finish.

Mouthfeel - Light in body with light, spritzy carbonation. Goes down easy with a roundly watered finish.

Overall - It is what it is, and what it is isn't all that bad. It certainly won't win you points with the fellas, but the ladies might appreciate this during a hot summer BBQ.

The first time I had this I poured it out because it tasted too much like soda pop. I like the brewery so I thought I would try it again.
L: Hazy pink with a 2” foam cap that is creamy and malty.
S: smells like grape or berry soda with a big artificial fruit flavor.
T: Pretty much sweet and artificial tasting.
F: Light and fizzy.
O: This is the kind of beer that people who are under age and do not like beer would like.

Sampled last night on 5/20/15 but had this several times before and even on tap. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a "LEINENKUGEL"S" pint glass.

Brew pours a nice reddish-amber in color with about a 1-finger foamy/fizzy white head that settles down fairly quickly. Some spotty lacing is seen when sipped. The aroma is really nice and is of mixed berries with a touch of honey and grains. Pretty much is said for the taste with the strawberry and black raspberry coming through nicely to balance this brew, Goes down easy of course. Lighter bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a tasty brew.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle dated Jul 06 15. Sampled May 15, 2015.

The color is a sort of orange-strawberry sparkling water color with a burst of white head that fizzles as fast as it erupts.

The aroma is mostly strawberry, blackberry, and a tiny hint of honey.

Light body

The flavor surprised me a little. I do get the weakest note of toasted bread and a very mild bitterness but otherwise it is all berries.

$3.25 bottle at Three Blind Mice in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

This beer is just... alright, let me start by saying it smells nice -- really wine cooler-y to the point of smelling like perfume, but it's pleasant. But the taste is just insanely sweet. I've had Summer Shandy, and that's a somewhat sweet beer, but this surpasses that. This is syrupy sweet. The berry flavors aren't bad, but they come off at times as medicinal and that's not helping the cloyingness of this beer. I could see it being a little refreshing on a super hot summer day, but just hanging out in a bar, man... it's just too sweet. The flavor isn't too bad, but it's hard to get past that sugary sweetness. One of the sweetest brews I've ever had.

All-in-all, you do NOT have to like beer to like this one. This screams wine cooler... there's only a super faint wheat finish that reminds you it's a beer. I'd pass on having it again unless I'm in 80 degree or hotter heat, really thirsty, and there's no water around. Tastes pretty decent, but for the eighty-eighth time, it's just too sweet for my buds (hence the 2.5 overall rating).

The color of red grapefruit juice. Smells and tastes like sweet berries. Nothing tart or sour about this offering. Almost soda-like but, on the other hand, exactly what it purports to be (and nothing more).

Haters, begone. This is the perfect beer for me right now when I want a beer but there is still way too much work to be done. The color is a rosy amber, the taste is Blackberry with a slightly bitter aftertaste, it's light, carbonated, fun.

Drank from both bottle and poured into a glass.
It pours to a light purple color. Moderate carbonation, with a fruity smell.
Tastes like a fruit drink. Does not have a beer taste at all. Very sweet.

A really really sweet tasting soft drink that was labeled a beer by mistake.
Or at least I hope so.

Saccharine sweet, disgustingly flavored, this beer came to me in a sample pack. On a night when my refrigerator was particularly dry, it came down to me and Leinie's Berry Weiss.

The overpowering artificial berry flavor killed the beer. Syrupy in feel. Made me feel instantly ill. I'm usually not this down on a beer, but this is definitely one to avoid.

Its too sweet for a beer. Its beer candy hahaha. Its pretty smooth but its too sweet when you want "real" beer. So it might be good for a beginner or to convert someone to trying beer if they like sweet drinks and liquor.
