Clear, golden yellow body topped with a rich, sticky, white head;; rings of foam laddering down the glass.. Light cereal grain aroma. Mild, light bread flavor with a well-balanced hop bitterness. Medium body; somewhat warm on the palate. Mainly dry finish.

I'm not sure if this is really an adjunct lager (I've emailed the brewery to find out if any corn or other adjuncts are used). Regardless, this is a solid if unremarkable American lager that does provide some nice, light grain flavors and holds up well in the appearance department.
Update on the ingredients: from an email response from the brewery - "Thank you for taking the time to contact us, we always enjoy hearing from our fans. Our Leinenkugel’s Original is brewed with five different pale malts, both 2- and 6-row and we do use some corn in the brewing process."

Look- The beer itself is a handsome light straw color but the lace is a mess. It has all the telltale signs of a sub-standard macro- it is soapy, sticky, and thin.

Smell- Not much here, maybe a whiff of adjunct. No hops, no malt.

Taste- While I've had worse, this disappoints. It is a ringer for Miller High Life. Sweet and thin.

Feel- About what you'd expect from a can of macrobrew.

Overall- Meh. I remember drinking this in college and, as such, this is an ok beer for the sake nostalgia. That aside, if you are drinking on the cheap, you are far better getting your hands on another beer from the Miller family- Hamms.

Best by March 31, 2014 marked on the neck of the bottle:

Pours golden with a nice white head. Trailing lace sticks.

The smell is of musty grain with a hint of soap.

The taste is of grainy malt, husk and a touch of soap. Virtually tasteless hops gives some dry balance to the sweetness in the finish.

Pretty crisp, a little fizz sticks to the tongue, but not too fizzy overall.

A bland lager with an odd, though mild, soapy undertone. Personally, if I had to choose, I would take Miller High Life over this. There are cheaper bland brews out there, too.

It is what it is a great fridge filler at $13.99 a case. Pours golden amber with a decent head that dissipates quick. Clean unimpressive taste. I throw an orange slice in for shits and giggles. This and Point Special Lager my go to home cheap beers. Local brewers can hardly go wrong

This beer is very typical in appearance, light, watery, transparent gold. At least it is not pee yellow. Head is basically little white ring around the top, although it had head for like one second. Smells of faint lupulin.. Suprisingly, no adjunct is detectable in the scent.

Tastes of sweet light malt and just barely picks up hints of corn. There is a slight lupulin bitter that is almost lost in the carbonation. Finish is a little biscuity and there is no aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and lightly carbonated. Although this lacks the crispness desirable in the style, I'd say its one of the better macros I've had simply because the elements of beer are actually recognizable in it and adjucts seem to be used sparingly, if at all.

Pours a clear yellow/orange with a small foamy head. Nothing really impressive here. Smell is very grainy and earthy with a hint of floral hops in there.

Taste has a nice sweet pale malt background with a somewhat corny flavor coupled with a slight hop biterness. Slight fruity tones stick out, a bit cirtusy, lemony.

Mouthfeel is watery thin. Basically the consistency of carbonated water...not my cup 'o tea. Drinkability is decent....I could see this going down on a hot summer day...but it's definetly not something I would seek out.

Pale yellow, small white head. No lace.
Aroma of corn and grassy hops.
The taste followed the nose. Corn, with a hint of grassy hops in the aftertaste.
Light-bodied lawnmower beer.

Beer pours a clear golden color with a foamy head that goes away and leaves decent lacing. Smell is mostly of a macro, but seems to have something slightly more to it. Taste has a slight sweetness to it, almost like a very light crisp honey. Taste is better than the average macro, but I can't bring myself to bringing it above average just because it is better than an average macro. Mouthfeel is alright, not great. Drinkability, I could put back a few of these no problem.

Golden color with moderate carbonation and head. It had a hoppy aroma and a mild, but full, flavor. A good lager, on par with Bud and definitely better than macro lights.

Served from can into glass. Pours pale gold in color, nearly transparent, with short lived bright white head and lots of small bubbles. Fairly mild aroma, primarily simple light grain. No hop aroma detectable. Flavor is possibly even more mild than the aroma, just simple clean malt. No hop flavor or bitterness but a slightly sweet finish. Mouthfeel is medium, fuller than expected from such a light flavored beer. High carbonation. Overall this beer is a quintessential American adjunct lager> Very simple aroma and flavor consisting basically entirely of featureless grain. Combined with low bitterness and high carbonation this beer is supremely drinkable, even if it is boring.

L: pours brilliant gold amber permeated with streams of rapidly rising bubbles and producing 1" white cap with good retention

S: There is an initial scrambled egg smell and a faint hint of skunk that drift off quickly. The remaining aromas are not big, consisting primarily of light cracker and faint hop spice aromas.

T: an initial trace of fruit and a vague hint of movie popcorn butter and a light corn sweetness. As it settles down oyster cracker, bread crumb and light bread crust flavors come forward and lead to a mild bitter hop accent on the finish that helps balance the malt

F: The body is light and the carbonation is medium high

O: This is an upper Midwest cult classic. Its somewhat drinkable and not offensive but there is also not a lot of flavor or character.

Lenie Original, for those who want to pay a little bit more for their BMCesque beer. Pours a typical yellow with white head and lots of carbonation but not much retention or lacing. Aroma is mostly sweet lagery corn. Hey, this is the midwest.

Taste, extremely light, barely a hop presence, barely a malt presence, probably comes close to being a malt liquor the barley use seems so low. With that said, it is a pretty clean taste, there are no off flavors, its just really a lot of water and not much else of the ingredients that make good beer. A good beer for those who don't like beer too much, or like keeping their edge on a warm day outside.

The worst are the people paying $5 for these on Water Street at the Leinie lodge. No dude, you aren't totally into bad ass craft beer, its just a brand that was bought by Miller, please stop embarrasing yourself.
