2015 a young RIS. A hard pour produced a one finger head dark tan head that dissipated as quickly as it came. The beer is dark dark brown with no clarity or carbonation bubbles.

S: A roasted malt, with coffee, caramel, toffee, chocolate, earth, and some floral.

T: A slight roasted coffee, roasted malt, caramel. toffee, chocolate and some earth.

Mouthfeel of the beer chewy, slightly carbonated, and the finish last for a minute.

Overall: This beer is just OK this has potential.

A: opaque; very deep brown; 1+ finger medium brown head that receded slowly to a wispy cap; OK lacing;

S: bittersweet chocolate, milk chocolate, coffee, with cream, deeply roasted grain; a little spicy;

T: bittersweet chocolate and licorice for a moment, then prune is predominant; alcohol is evident and a little harsh; mild bitterness on the finish; aftertaste is black coffee, leather, and a touch of smoke;

M: medium to full bodied; low to moderate carbonation; lightly dry finish;

O: aftertaste was the best part of the flavor;

Pours black with a medium sized creme colored head. Head retention is strong, with decent lacing left behind early in the glass. Aroma is of roasted malts, cocoa nibs, chocolate, and caramel. Roasted malts, cocoa nibs, and chocolate make up most of the flavor profile. Heavy notes of yeast throughout the end of the flavor profile. Mouth feel has a medium consistency, with smooth, watery drink ability. It does get a bit grainy towards the end. Overall, it's an okay RIS. This would not be my pick to show someone this style. If I hadn't got it for a $1.25 a bottle, I would consider this a rip off.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

Leinenkugel Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout, 9.5% ABV, 50 IBU. Pours dark and surprisingly thick, decent head, nose is alcohol and roastiness, taste is slightly bitter roast, not very bitter close. Pretty decent. Never thought I'd say that about an Leinie's, which is brewed about 30 miles from my hometown, and probably more to do with high school rivalries than beer quality, everyone I knew would not drink it if it was free. Now that I can overlook that, I realize they have some perfectly OK beer. I'd get it again, particularly if they come back out with the BA version.

Pours a expected dark color, with a relatively small brownish head.

Smells of nutmeg, chocolate, and cocoa. There's also a bunch of malts and roasted coffee beans.

Taste is certainly not pushing any envelopes. The roasted malts definitely come across, and there is a significant bitterness in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is relatively light, and carbonation is low.

This is solid, but boring. Which I suppose is the perfect description for Leinenkugel.

Good, not great. Poured hard into a snifter from a 12oz bottle. Heavy char taste to me, others describe as "campfire". Boozy but harsh. Very dry, makes me want to chase it with cold water. I'd drink it if offered but I wouldn't buy again.

This beer is awesome! It looks great, definitely a heavier beer. Great head, smooth finish, and bites a tiny bit. 99 in my opinion.

L: black with small head .

S: malty and roasty. Ok .

T: tastes of malt and booze.

F: feels like a barleywine. Just a really bad one.

O: I wouldn't rebuy. I saw a 2013 RIS sitting on the shelf in March 2016. Thought it would be good. But it was not.

Big, roasty, full-bodied. Tinnish smell, coffee and smoked wood.

Bought from Bev Mart
Dark black color
Low Carbonation
Burnt roasted malt smell
Taste of smokey chocolate, alcohol taste is noticeable
Overall I would not buy it again. To me a good beer is you can feel the alcohol, but not taste it. The characteristic flavors should be the dominate taste.
