We partnered with Hofbräu München to create Collaboration Lager, an amber lager that unites German malts with American hops creating a taste worth toasting.

With over 550 years of brewing experience combined, Leinenkugel’s Collaboration Lager is a blend of German tradition and American ingenuity. Brewed in partnership with Hofbräu München and in the spirit of Reinheitsgebot, this German-style amber lager incorporates imported German malts with unique American hops to create a beer that is flavorful, balanced, and refreshing.

Dark copper colored with a quarter inch of creamy beige on top. Faint, soapy lacing. The aroma is of toffee and caramel. I’m tasting plenty of toffee and caramel. The mouth is light and easygoing.

Pours a frothy foamy 1/2 finger off white head with a bit of lacing, fair hazy amber color

Nose grainy cereal malt with little toasted malt, hint if caramel and biscuity malt, fair herbal floral hop touch fruity

Taste cereal grain, little malt extract like sweetness, toasted cereal and hint caramel, fair toast, light soft lager, herbal noble hops, little floral, fruity and touch spicy late with mild sticky sweet finish, Little tangy fruity character, malt extract like and not a clean lager

Mouth is med bod, a bit lager soft, med fizzy carb

Overall not bad, but not as rich malty and clean lager as expected, I feel like hofbrau had very little to do with this

Lovely amber lager. Malty, simple, not hopped to the gills or watery, as some domestic attempts. I could drink it every day on not get tired of it.

This is the most underrated beer I bought this year. It's a simple, smooth, malty, amber lager that I really wish I could brew myself, and I challenge home brewers who can handle lagers to try to recreate this beer at home. A nice break from over-hopped, over-carbonated beers that seem to be gaining in popularity. If I had to choose only one beer to have at an event for everyone, this beer would be on my very short list of choices, and I'm confident no one would be disappointed. This is a deceptively good, expensive-tasting beer from a rather surprising source. Cheers!

This is really better than expected. Pours a deep copper color with a nice pillowy head. Scents of apricot and and piney hops. Not overly hoppy but just enough to give it an American Amber Ale feel to it. Combining the German malts makes this an interestingly pleasant and smooth beer. Not great but good.

I guess I was expecting something more authentically German like with this. It's an ok beer but never in my wildest drunken stupors would I consider this to be an authentic German lager....maybe it is not supposed to be.

Flavor has a touch of toasted malts but it loaded with caramel along with a bit of earthy hops...lightly spicy (more so on the aroma than taste though)..the caramel really gets to be a bit much

Disappointed. I bought 12 and will enjoy drinking them but I was expecting more....

Appearance: Pours a clear, deep orange, slightly bronzed color with a strong off-white head. SRM of 14. (4.25)

Aroma: Moderate to strong aromas of toasted bread malt, red citrus, pine, with some caramel sweetness underneath. (4.00)

Flavor: Moderate flavors of toasted bread malt followed by a pine and mild red citrus flavor. A smooth but light caramel malt underneath with some brown bread.. Finish with a pine bitterness on the backend. (3.75)

Feel: Medium to light bodied. Moderate carbonation. Finish is clean. (3.75)

Compared to Leinenkugals Oktoberfest 11/15/21: Pours a similar color with a larger head. Stronger aromas. More pine, red citrus, brwon bread malt.

Overall: This was a surprisingly enjoyable beer from Leinenkugals. I liked the nice amber malts, red citrus, and pine notes without being too overpowering. Much preferred to their Oktoberfest. I enjoyed this one. Nice flavors, drinkable, and clean. Better than usual for Leinenkugals. (Final Rating: 3.84)
