Definitely chocolate here, a little banana, a little vanilla... chocolate chip banana bread is the scent I detect. A three-finger cream-colored head developed quickly and lasted a couple minutes before receding into a deep mahogany translucence. Some chocolate on first sip and in the last drop as it left the back of my tongue. Actually, it was there pretty much from front to back but was overshadowed mid-sip by a fruity sourness that wasn't citrus... almost raspberry, but that's faint and the sourness is the dominant taste touchstone. Very smooth - creamy, almost - with a touch of astringency/carbonation at the end. This is my second can, and I was honestly not all that interested as the first was underwhelming. Just like everything, I guess, whatever else is going on in life will affect your opinions whether you think about it or not.

L: Pours a very transparent dark brown, great big frothy khaki colored head.
S: Chocolate, gobs of it and not much else.
T: Chocolate, and not much else.
F: Thin body, like most Leinie' products, nicely carbonated.
O: I thoroughly enjoyed this very one dimensional beer, it reminded me of a drink called Kayo I consumed 60+ years ago, except with alcohol.

poured from a 12oz bottle into a tall new glarus pilsner glass. pours a chocolate bar brown with a khaki colored head that fades away rather quickly. smells and tastes like a tootsie roll and i can’t decide if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. as it warms up the tootsies roll flavor comes out even more. medium full mouthfeel that finishes a tad watery. not a bad idea here but maybe a little poorly executed. the chocolate is amplified a little too much (i think less would be more in this situation) and the tootsie roll flavor is nice at first but wears on me a little throughout the duration of the pour. it’s still drinkable and it’s definitely enjoyable, although more so closer to fridge temp.

On tap on Wisconsin. Very bubbly looking. Definite chocolate smell but the taste is a little less intense. Very drinkable. One of the better one from this brewer.

I got a 6pck of cans of this beer from my local meijer store. It poured an nearly opaque dark amber with ecru head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had milk chocolate cocoa notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with milk chocolate presence....Nestlé quick action!. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Chocolate Dunkel pours a dark brown color, with a nice, long lasting lacing head. Aroma is big chocolate powder. Flavor is sweet, with lots of chocolate powder flavoring. A little weak, but good overall. Overall, its a nice chocolate beer, not overpowering, easy to approach, and overall, really nice.

12oz can poured into teku glass. Picked up from liquor store for $1.79. JAN3122 printed on bottom of can. So this should have another month of freshness left in it.

Appearance - Very dark hazy brown body. Small to medium light brown head.

Smell - Unmistakable chocolate. Specifically like chocolate milk, due to that sweetness. Very appetizing, but very weird for a beer. Doesn't smell weird or artificial at all though. Smells like the real deal.

Tastes - Mellow. That chocolate comes through on the tongue too, but somewhat less clearly so. Has very little in the way of hops or anything else that resembles beer. Legit, this is basically just slightly carbonated Yoo-Hoo with the tiniest hint of alcohol and a bit of bitterness on the finish.

Mouthfeel - Mellow. Light bodied, but the creaminess gives it an almost medium body. Clean and refreshing.

Overall - Actually a quite incredible beer. Definitely something I'd recommend to someone to try out. No major flaws. Just weird, unique, and interesting. Definitely a great way to break up the monotony of your standard beers if you're a beer geek, and something bizarre to show a newbie how unpredictable a beer can be.

Very deceiving in looks. Smell is overpowering with strong notes of chocolate, cream, and hazelnut. Not much of a head, but small lacing. Very light feel to mouth, with an extremely smooth finish. Very good.

12oz can into a pint glass. Best by 1/31/22.

Looks okay in the glass. Dark brown body with a small tan head. The head shrinks to a fat collar, leaving a spider's web of lacing.

Nice chocolatey aroma.

On tasting, the chocolate is the big story. To be honest, it's the only story. There is none of the usual dunkel bite and finish. However, it is incredibly smooth and the chocolate is used so well.

Mouth just about reaches medium, finish is chocolate.

Overall, perhaps one dimensional, bit this chocoholic doesn't care. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Poured from a can. Brown with a tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Smells of chocolate, and chocolate did I mention chocolate? Flavors of chocolate and roasted grain, chocolate is hard to pull off correctly and this beer does it well. Very nice.

From a 12oz can:

Appearance: Dark brown, good head.

Smell: Nice chocolate aroma, sweet.

Taste: Sweet chocolate but not cloying. Light body and easy to drink.

Overall: I'm pretty impressed by this chocolate dunkel, way more chocolate flavor than I was expecting. Not "candy bar in a glass" level like some pastry stouts, but a solid, sweet chocolate flavor that isn't over-the-top.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, dark, dark brown color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of milk chocolate, caramel, toffee and light floral notes. Sweet chocolate taste with toffee and a mild bitterness.

Deep dark brown where light passes easily through the center of the glass. Moderate head but it subsides quickly. Streaky lace on the glass.

Rich, real chocolate aroma. This beer smells like a brownie.

The flavor starts off dark but finishes like cooled off hot cocoa (with milk). No notable chalk and fairly sweet. The body is rich and the carbonation is appropriate. This is much more rich than a typical Dunkel. Overall, this beer fits nicely into winter warmer category designed for chocolate lovers.

Poured into shaker pint. Dark brown color with a beige head that holds on as a ring.

Nose is chocolate syrup.

Taste follows. Sweet roasted malt and a bit of nuttiness.

Finishes clean, a lot like a typical dunkel.

For chocolate lovers. Not bad, nothing fancy.

Very dark brown with a light brown almost white head. Aroma is fudgy, toasted malts. Flavor is a nice cacao, chocolate, bit toasty, malted milk ball. Quite clean. I dunno. This is pretty good. Chocolate forward but not overpowering, clean crisp lager finish. I like it.

12 ounce can, best by date of JAN 17 22 stamped on the bottom of the can. Thanks to my buddy Denis for this one! Served in a dimpled mug, the beer pours dark brown with about an inch and a half light tan head that stuck around a while. Good amount of lacing, too. I like the aroma, the brew smells mostly like chocolate syrup/fudge, along with some dark bread. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some nuttiness and a hint of coffee noticeable too. Now that I think of it, this really reminds me of a brownie. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's smooth and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, definitely more chocolate than dunkel to me. Worth picking up if you like brews that taste like brownies!

12oz can. Stamped on can bottom is best by date of 'JAN3122'.
Brown colored body, with fluffy, two finger khaki head. Leaves behind strings of lacing.
Aroma has lots of cocoa, similar to Hershey's powdered cocoa. Brief dark malts.
Taste is more balanced between the cocoa and the dark malts, but the chocolate finally wins. Then the aftertaste swirls with lager yeast and dark roast malts. Has chocolate bar residue.
Thinner mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
Lots of chocolate here but not overly sweet. Better for quaffing than for sipping, because of the thinner body.

Looks nice in the glass, but the real bright spot is the chocolatey aroma. Flavor wise, to me, Leine's Chocolate Dunkel is like drinking liquid tootsie rolls, but there's a decent Dunkel lager hiding underneath the chocolate dominance. A dessert beer, for sure. That's two Leinenkugel's beers in a row that I've enjoyed, the Collaboration Lager with Hofbrau Munchen was also a tasty surprise.

12oz can, best by Jan3122. IBU: 43
Look, semi transparent light brown or dark amber body. Nice tall light tan head that sticks around for a little while leave just a little lacing.
Smell: Chocolate, maybe marsh mellow
Taste: chocolate and more chocolate , just slightly sweet. You can taste cacao nibs. Plus a little marsh mellow. Might be a hint of roast in there. More bitter on the finish.
Feel is ok.

A chocolate bomb without being a chocolate overload. somewhat simple beer. easy to drink. 3.83/5

A very chocolate forward beer. It was enjoyable as a desert beer. The chocolate manages to stay just this side of too much. A bit of a surprise from what Leinie's has released recently, a good surprise.

L- Vigorous poor yields dark amber body with huge off-white, tan head. Head lasts a long time in glass with some lacing kissing the sides of the glass.
S- Total hot chocolate with marsh mellows.
T- more chocolate. Maybe some dark chocolate syrup.
F- Good, above average for the style.
O- A beer for chocolate lovers. Call it one note, but Lenie's hit that note.
