I thought this was a very good cold weather beer. The flavor and texture were excellent, and the vanilla touch is always nice. I really liked it.

This porter is one I would drink every day. Or maybe just when I was especially good. Not too heavy on the malt, a little spice with the effervescent vanilla finish. Not too sweet, Not too bitter, Just Right!

Pours a dark but transparent brown, fluid body with a fizzy dark tan head that fades to little clouds. I'm initially hit by a very Budweiser aroma (adjunct malt), but happily this transitions into a mild roasty malt, acidic cocoa, and warm vanilla combination. The flavor is also mild but offers a modicum of dark chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malt. The body is light but has a nice softness to it, despite the mild-but-fizzy carbonation.
Most Leinys clobber the drinker over the head with the added flavor, but this one was quite the opposite; if anything it was too meek. The porter part of it was ok but, again, too timid to really discern what kind of nuances and balances were happening, and the vanilla was almost an afterthought. This was definitely better than if it had gone the other way, but as it was didn't offer much.

Black, with a ruby bulb up to the light, a finger of lasting tan head, and mild lacing left behind. Light roasted barley malt, vanilla, and I'm not picking up much in the hops dept, in the nose. The flavor is bready malt, with chocolate and vanilla coming out in a mild, but, pleasant way. The feel is full carbonation, dry, and medium body. Overall, it's a middle of the road, drinkable beer that you can drink and enjoy, and don't have to analyse each sip.

I'm not crazy about the beers I've had from this brewery, none are terrifically distinctive, and this porter is no exception. The 6% abv definitely helps the flavor get off the ground. Nice, smooth hints of vanilla at the end make it a winner for me, but nothing really jumps out past the malts as outstanding.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into glass. 'FEB1918' is stamped at the neck of the bottle.
Dark brown and ruby colored body, tan head settles to thin cap, a few spots of lacing.
Aroma is roasted malt, sweeter chocolate, and a hint of vanilla.
Taste is roasted malt (with a tail end almost like malted milk balls), darker chocolate, and a fleeting mention of vanilla.
Somewhat creamy mouthfeel but a little chalky too.
Middle of the road for its type, but too bland to be distinctive.

Might be the best Leinies in the stable. That's not saying much since this is a 'muh' brewery but this isn't bad. Snowdrift gas a smoky smell, pours jet black with a brown head that dissipates quickly. Very easy to drink and fits well as a balanced winter porter. A little watery on feel but tastes good.

Pours nice and dark with cream head. Porters are rather mild and this one is on the bland side. It paired nice with a bowl of chile but I would not buy a six pack. I received it on a sample pack as a gift. I would not order or buy it.
