Served in a tall fluted glass. Pours out a deep, clear gold with lazy carbonation. A one finger creamy white cap forms, and retains to about half that size.

Faint traces of bubblegum and banana on the nose, more dominant is the wheat and some mild spice.

The flavour is also mild with bubblegum and wheat, a bit of spicy bite on the finish.

Mouthfeel holds its own for the style, smooth with a bit of carbonation on the finish, which dries it out a bit.

I drank a fair bit of this stuff this summer, it's not overly complex, but that light spice bill was actually quite satisfying and quenching during the hot weather.

The locally-brewed, lemon-wedged offering so popular here in Calgary has made me unfairly suspicious of kristal weizens — this flavourful beer has restored my faith in the style.

It poured with a bubbly one-finger head over a clear golden body. Not much lace as I drank. The traditional banana esters were present, with a slight whiff of sweet bubblegum and some husky grains. I didn't detect much cloves or spiciness and would have liked to.

The taste nicely matched the aroma, with all the expected elements coming into play. What wasn't detectable in the smell, but pleasantly apparent in the flavour was a nice lemony tartness that gave this beer a crisp finish.

Poured very forcefully, generating only a finger thick foamy white head that sits on top of the clear pale-golden body. Head doesn't last long, falling to a thin cap in about a minute.

Sweet banana flavour and smokey clove are immediately notable. Would be a respectable aroma for any wheat beer.

Sweet banana again is first to hit the tongue, though it is rather subtle compared to the strong clove laden finish. Quite pleasant, the flavours are not heavy, proper for a summertime quaffer, yet the taste is far from being watery. I struggled in picking a number for the taste, it wouldn't have been a stretch to give a 4.

Mouthfeel is light, and easy drinking. It could benefit from somewhat more lively carbonation, but that is a minor complaint.

Far better than Alberta's other Kristal Weizen, this is a well done wheat beer.

Bottle courtesy of Irondjin: Poured a deep clear golden color weizen with a small foamy head. Aroma of sweet wheat malt is somewhat boring. Taste is also dominated by some sweet malt but no banana, bubblegum or cloves aroma could be detected. The aftertaste was quite dry as well which wasn’t necessarily pleasant. Body was light with some average carbonation which was a bit low for the style.

Big thanks to lipschitz for this brew sent during CanBIF 2007.

Pours Light gold, cristal clear, no yeast sediment, very appropriate. This style of brew could help advocates win over drinker of yellow fizzies. Banana and wheat malt aroma, same goes for taste, very nice.

I'm used to my murky, yeast infested wheatbeers, and prefer them that way. Still, this makes me realise I need to brew a fresh batch of hefe.

Appearance - Weak appearance due to the filtering of the wheat, going flat quickly.

Smell - pleasant sweet floral aroma.

Taste - Sweet first sips, sours a little at the back of the mouth, though the sweetness becomes a little sickening towards the end.

Mouthfeel - Light body, smooth texture.

Drinkability - Limited.
