Appearance: Poured in to a Spiegelau IPA Glass. Red copper and clear. Nice carbonation; bubbles are small and active, there is great slow and steady rising throughout from bottom of the glass to the top. Head is bubbly and frothy and dissipates pretty quickly with a wonderful cascading lace of foam.

Aromatics: First scents with a full glass are a combination of fresh cut grass, grapes, citrus (orange peel and grapefruit), and subtle glances at a soft caramel. The notes don’t linger too long, and there is a touch of breadiness at the back mixed with a bit more sweet and malty tones.

Taste: Tangy citrus zip just before the grass and earth trounce on the palate. Not too over-the-top has a fairly good balance of earthy and sticky pine-bitter and the right amount of malt to was it up.

Feel: A gentle crispness with a moderate body, finishes very dry - the bitter simcoe does get a bit of tooth in the aftertaste.

Overall: A really nice IPA, not overdone with the hops, and the choice of malt was extremely well matched. Love the colour and watching the carbonation on the hot summer day patio.

Pairing: I’m going to pair this with something sweet to cut into that bitter. The piney-resin-ness would compliment very well with a grilled pineapple upside down cake topped will a little vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of caramel, and flakes of roasted coconut.

Mmmm. Dragon Series goodness continues - remove the archived label because this one is back. This beer looks fantastic in the glass and smells equally good. Plenty of ruby red grapefruit, a bit of blood orange, and a nice pine resin to the hop. This is a complex, well balanced IPA that should satisfy the tastebuds of those who love a fresh IPA.

750ml poured into Sam Adams pint glass.

Pours a clear, bright copper with half a finger of off-white head that leaves serrated knife edge lace as it recedes.

Smells of muddled tropical fruit, squeezed pink grapefruit, baked caramel tarts and resiny hop bitterness.

Tastes of candied pineapple, bitter orange flesh, sweet biscuity caramel malt, sticky pine sap and tea-like hop bitterness.

Feels soft and creamy. Chubby middleweight with pillowy carbonation. Finishes dry.

Verdict: Highly recommended. Does everything very well.

Tasting notes: Light golden color, a finger of frothy beige head. Pungent aroma that evokes pine, grapefruit rind, cedar ... Maybe a whiff of peach and red berry. This definitely skews toward the piney/woody aspects of this much touted hop, a thin-bodied vessel by which the vegetal potency of this hop is expressed. Some bitter citrus rind as well. There is an ephemeral sweet orchard fruitiness as well, one that is almost totally eclipsed, however. Decent if lacking in nuance.

Thanks for another tasty prairie brew wordemupg!

Appearance. Pours a pretty clear orangy-gold with a finger of white head.

Smell. Big citrus hops and a little cedar and pine, some tropical fruits and toasted grains.

Taste. Big bitter hops, sweet tropical fruits, grass and pine sap, and some toasted grains and caramel. Very bitter finish.

Mouthfeel. Medium body, medium-low carbonation.

Overall. I only glanced at the bottle but did see something about this beer being intended for hop heads. Indeed. No shortage of hops here, and that's just fine with me.

Appearance - Pours an amber hue with a finger width of bubbly white head.

Smell - Piney hops, tropical fruits, caramalts.

Taste - Nice hit of piney hops, followed along with the tropical fruits and caramalt flavours. Good bitterness level.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall - I finally had a chance to sample this one (didn't get it the first time 'round). A good example of the style with nice bitterness. One of the better Dragons out there.

Poured from 750ml bottle into rounded beer glass. I believe this is a reissue of the series.

A-Pours a clear gold colour. About a finger of white head with ow retention. The glass ends up being partially covered with a bit of foam.

S-Some hops with a good whiff of boiled vegetable.

T-Getting some off flavours here with a bit vegetable and cardboard. Detecting hints of bitterness and some malt sweetness.

M-Moderate full mouthfeel that coats the tongue nicely. Hop astringency peels the top off your tongue a bit.

O-Hmmm...not sure what happened here. I've enjoyed a couple of the dragon series and was less found of others like the plaid, but they were all pretty clean. This seemed a bit off. Would consider grabbing one again just to see if the bottle was a bit of a mistake.

A nice DIPA, understated in terms of bitterness impact, very though well malted down. A nice drinkability. Light orange body with generous off white head. Mildly orange hoppy aromas.orange citrus juiciness. I don't think this would check out at 100 IBU in the lab, so nice though not most representative of the style. Bomber thanks Presario.

Poured from a bomber into a schooner; this one is hot off the presses so it's fresh!

A - clear amber beer with a fluffy tan one finger head and chunky lacing

S - slight caramel sweetness back with floral hops and earthiness

T - big grassy/tea leaf hops backing some solid bitterness, very big caramel and bready malt balances it out with some late sweetness but the nice bitterness coats the mouth

M - medium bodied, with a very slight oilyness that's cut with lots of sharp carbonation

D - nicely drinkable, for a hophead!

Nicely balanced DIPA - solidly bitter, but nicely underpinned with some delicious malt. Can't wait for this again.
