Sampled in a 12 oz bottle.

Poured a clear yellow with a small, white head and no head retention.

I detected mild aromas of corn, sweet malt, and some grains.

The taste was very simple with flavors of malt and grain. There was nothing bad or good and definitely nothing surprising. Not a bad choice to have at a Japanese steak house if there are no micros available.

Appearance – Clear and yellow in color with a decent head and a bit of carbonation.

Smell – Sharp grains and a hint of candy sweetness make up the nose of this lager.

Taste – This didn’t come out very well. The ricey flavor is strung out like a poor attempt at a Budweiser. The sweet finish is like rock candy or some other form of pure sugar.

Mouthfeel – There’s a bit of lively carbonation to this light-bodied beer, but not enough to distract the drinker from the awful taste.

Sinkability – I paid 3.99 for a bomber of this stuff. I think “asahi” is Japanese for “gotcha”.

This one actually produces a thin, spongy head with some lacing. It is light transparent urine in color and has the faintest aroma of peaches. Biting astringincy brings in soapy, yeasty, and slight apple suggestions. OK but funky and the mouthfeel really stings like a bitch. This is way over carbonated.

Poured a yellow reddish color, absolutely no head, There was a slight hop flavor, but otherwise thats it.Very dry aftertaste. Hop flavored seltzer water, nice for quenching your thirst, maybe cleasing your mouth during a hibatchi feast, but I like Sapporo better.

I have this one on occasion, mostly when I am in NYC at a sushi eaterie. Not much to the flavour or aroma, thin and dry but there are virtually no off flavours. Does a good job washing down excess wasbi and cleaning the palate for the next roll.

Having Sushi tonight so I decided to pick up a beer of the Orient to go along with it. 16 ounce brown bottle labeled "Super Dry". I dont know what that is supposed to mean so I'll look at it like a traditional lager. Let's see.
The color is clear straw yellow with a white fluffy head that disappears quickly. Big fish-eye like bubbles of carbonation are visable.
Aroma is so clean its barely there. Hints of light adjuncts are present. No hop aroma at all.
The body is thin and bubblly. The taste is clean. No flaws other than a ginger-ale like taste that fades quickly. Sweet lager with no specific charecters and then its gone. Overall its a clean lager that went well with my sushi. Its very drinkable, but there are better versions of the style out there.

Tried this one at the Asahi beer factory in Kanagawa, Japan.

Appearance - Bright golden color. On tap, it's very interesting to roll around in the glass and watch the tiny bubbles move like in a lava lamp. From the can, it acts pretty much like most other Japanese beers and produces a high head which dissipates quickly. However, it leaves nice lacing on the glass and if you do a good pour it can last a while.

Smell - Meh, it's got a sweet, malty aroma with slight hops.

Taste - I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It's got a nice balance of malt and hops with some rice in there. Leaves a nice aftertaste which makes you not want to stop sipping. The froth has a nice taste as well and magnifies the beer flavor.

Mouthfeel - Very creamy for a draft beer. I can savor this beer for a few seconds before swallowing it down.

Drinkability - Definitely a great one to put down from the tap and not so shabby from the can. However, you need to give the can a few swirls to release the carbonation to keep the good points of the beer going.

Definitely a nice one to try, especially if you have doubts about Asahi's brewing ability. I drank this beer exclusively for a couple months until it got old.

Appearance: Pale yellow color, quite light. One finger of head which was fizzy not creamy, and gone in about a minute. Left no lacing.

Smell: Very light aroma of rice, not much else.

Taste: Typical adjunct flavor, most of what I get is rice. Just a touch of hops, little malt flavor.

Mouthfeel: Subtle would be kind. Not much body, finishes dry.

Drinkability: Easy to drink. Should go well with many kinds of food; no flavor to interfere with your appreciation of the food. On the other hand, there's not enough to entice me to drink more than this one. Ordinary, but not objectionable.

Poured from a 1 Quart 1.8 oz can into an Allagash tulip glass,

As poured vigorously the beer creates a big 3 finger white head which reduces slowly with little lacing down the glass. The beer is a pale gold in color and smells of wheat barley and a faint hint of hops. The first taste is of lemon and some grainish notes. The beer lacks body behind it, and leaves a dry grainy after taste.

It is well drinkable, something that would go well on a hot summer day. There is an "umph" missing behind the taste as there is no real body to the beer. I would drink this again, but only if someone else was buying.

Pours a straw yellow. Small white head on medium-aggressive pour. Thin layer of lace sits well, with good retention. Smell is of feint cooked white rice, with a bit of a tangy fresh malt odor. Cleanses the nasals. Taste is similar to the smell, flavor is crisp and clean. A good amount of tanginess on the palate. Borderline citrus, but never fully crosses over. Some semi-bitter hops at the start, lasting till the finish. Strong rice aftertaste which melds nicely with the hops. Not bad, not bad at all. Mouthfeel is crisp, and semi-coating. Drinkability is great.

A nice refreshing crisp Rice Beer that goes nice with food as well.
