Brewed by:
De Brabandere

Style: Belgian Pale Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.30%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Petrus Aged Pale is a 100% beer from our foeders. Michael Jackson, the beer hunter, chose the name in the late 1990s – and he was the first to sell this beer in his beer clubs. Today, it is still the reference for sour beers in the US. Petrus Aged Pale has won multiple gold medals in beer competitions worldwide. Moreover, ever since the start of the brewery, the beer has been used as a blending-beer with other beers to give them fresh, slightly sour flavors and aromas.

Aged in Oak foeders for over 24 months

Beer is gold/yellow-orange with a slightly orange tinted white head about 1.75 girl fingers high. Lace is patchy around the edges. Aroma is tangy and sweet. Lemon, tart cherries and stinky fermented red cherries, white wine, tea, raspberries, green grapes, and a clean light malt sweetness. Taste is tart throughout. Puckering to an extent but not more tart than other sour beers. Very light sweetness underneath flavors of musky berries, white wine, and green grape skins. Very dry, almost chalky mouthfeel. It makes your mouth water. Drinkability is solid. Goes down easy but you're compelled to space sips out because of the entertaining tartness.

330 ml bottle poured into tulip. Best by 25/02/15.

A- Clear light gold body. Dense fluffy white head, one finger thick retention. Decent lacing.

S- Tangy green apple. Fruity wild funk. Faint grain, pale malt. A little citrus.

T- Tangy fruit, apple again. A little woody in the finish. Some bite.

M- Tart/tangy. Pucker bite of a finish. Rather light in body. There's an apparent woody dryness in the finish as well.

O- Really tasty. Tart and refreshing. Good wood aged character.
